Me and Mrs Flobs are down for a wedding on Thursday, staying for the weekend. Looking for suggestions for things to see and do; bands, galleries, museums, good cafés, bars, restaurants, etc, etc...
We're staying in Darlinghurst, so we're probably looking for stuff that's fairly central. Anyone know if the Glebe markets are on this Sat..?
Any tips for the Sydney festival would be appreciated - I'm off to wade through the program now.
Cheers.

festival first night on saturday!
glebe markets is every week
bird cow fish in surry hills is the best restaurant i've been to in sydney for ages, though admittedly i've not done much dining out in sydney for ages. still a bloody good breakfast, though.
Get into Spice I Am (90 wentworth ave) in surry hills - worth a wait out the front for great thai.
if you get the weather, try the fish market in Pyrmont. There's also a food market in Pyrmont on odd weekends, but I don't know which.
Have a drink at Icebergs in Bondi if you can!
Can't help with cultural stuff - that's what Melbourne's for, innit?
Love of Diagrams + Laurels + Ghosts of TV at the Annandale Saturday!
Cheers, TR. Any idea what time you're playing?
Probably round 10, but I've not verified this assumption with a worksheet.
Any cool stuff today and tomorrow, day stuff, like exhibitions etc...?

That was great last night Celluloid. A whole bunch of bands playing at the OAF tonight, FREE ENTRY

The woolloomooloo bay hotel is returning to sunday evening bands after a break of a few years with my old mates from jellybeanjam, which is where I first met them way back. Ideal if you can handle 70s disco

Musica in Extremis – PIVIXKI
The duo known as PIVIXKI is a unique combination of two distinct
talents: two hard-working artists of the Melbourne and international
music scene, Anthony Pateras (piano) and Max Kohane (drums). The
beauty of PIVIXKI lies in the clash of two musical cultures though the
willing experimentation of Anthony Pateras and Max Kohane has seen fit
that there is no clash at all. www.anthonypateras.com

The first No Fixed Address show by The Gate is happening this weekend. It's being held in a secret backyard, you'll need to RSVP to get the address. http://www.thegatepresents.com/
Oooh, I like how clandestine that sounds. Link is dead at the moment, but I might be keen to head along.
Sorry the link failed for you dude.. is it working now? Looks OK from here, but you never know...
Still broken at my end, but these work computers are running absolutely ancient internet browsers to which the absolutely ancient IT guy refuses to upgrade to 'these fandangle new unofficial third party browsers.' Will try again tomorrow.
ghoti: firefox portable
Legendary. Thanks anon.
think there's portable versions of chrome around as well if you feel inclined.
Black Wire records instore tonight, Sounds Like Sunset at the Lansdowne tomorrow night.

Happy Hate Me Nots @ The Sando
looch, go see Royston Vasie.
Reckon I might try and make Adalita @The Sando tomorrow night after work.
Tomorrow night The Townhouses, Elizabeth Rose and Tim Fitz are playing The Gate @ Pablo's.
It's all the way out in Epping but I reckon it's worth the trip. we've spent a lot of time and effort trying to give it the best sound and lighting you'll hear and see in a small space in Sydney at the moment. plus the crowd seems to stay almost eerily quiet while the artists are playing which is amazing if you like to enjoy seeing music without people nattering in your ear.
