simpsons movie

thegirlwhocrieddave  said about 2 years ago  or at  10:11AM on Tuesday, November 14 2006.

there have been a few clips about, but last nights '5 minute special sneak peak', as touted by 10 reps for the last few weeks, gave away, well, not much. plus they have a very skewed idea of how long 5 minutes goes for.

anyway, who knows more? will it revive the sipsons, or lend it's hand in the eventual demise?

it's still 7 months away, that's a long time to keep interest piqued.

sipsons 4 eva

RoastOxCrisps  said about 2 years ago:

depends on who's writing it. if it's basically the same writing team as the last 5 years then there's little hope that it'll be memorable.

spaceman1  said about 2 years ago:

they always said the movie would be more of a concern perhaps once they'd wound up the series for good...so who knows? no one really goes crazy about new simpsons like they used to.

spaceman1  said about 2 years ago:

i caught the ricky gervais written episode on youtube and thought it was really really crap.

Get fucked. "It's a robot with guns for arms shooting at a plane made of guns that fires guns1" was my favourite Simpsons line ever.

hmm i see that as a valid point i'm inclined to agree with.

however i shall be waiting for this.

they need to get conan back

TagoMago  said about 2 years ago:

Um.. whatshisface who wrote the majority of the episodes in the 90s worked on the script for the film. Which is a good thing.

anonymous  said about 2 years ago:

and giving them more then half a hour to work on a story may give them more chance to be good, a break from the formula.

hiponion  said about 2 years ago:

Look, they won't, and can't, fuck this up.

And they've always said (since the original idea for a movie as a bridge between two seasons was scrapped) that they want it to be one of the last things that the Simpsons does, I have a feeling that they know that the show's in it's death throes.

hiponion  said about 2 years ago:

john swartzwelder's involved and the dude's hilarious.

JunkiePhil  said about 2 years ago:

They aparently have a lot of the orignal writers onboard for it.
I've got good vibes about it.
Yeah, real good ones,
They have a few story board type things for it on YouTube.
I liked the Moe GAG last night, 2-D!

dsico  said about 2 years ago:

what are you talking about ? the more recent episodes are better than the old ones.

MattuS  said about 2 years ago:

When it does come out, I'm gonna guess it will be one of the highest grossing films ever.

hiponion  said about 2 years ago:

anyone who thinks that the last few seasons haven't been a gradual decline doesn't like good jokes.

Inactivist  said about 2 years ago:

Hopefully it won't get played out like Borat or Talladega Nights or Snakes On A Plane or virtually every other comedy before anyone gets to see it. Which it will. By the time anyone goes to see the movie they would've already seen half the thing out of context.

hiponion  said about 2 years ago:

Something like Borat though is interesting to see what bits people laugh at. Simpsons nerds that know the whole script before they go and see the movie is completely different.

But thats a GAG in it's self!

Just saw this now. It's good entertainment, and thats exactly all it needs to be.

september  said about 1 year ago:

it is rubbish. disappointing. two thumbs down.

thegirlwhocrieddave  said about 1 year ago:

i found it awkward to watch in the cinema. i was restless, it was too big, not enough loungeroom and dinner, or something.

101010101010101  said about 1 year ago:

I really enjoyed it at the cinema, but on analysing it post-fun on illegal download, it really doesn't have all the spark it could have had.

thegirlwhocrieddave  said about 1 year ago:

the littler things that were meant to be all potmodern and funny, like the fox advertising scroll along the bottom, and the to be continued at half time, only served to irritate me.

also, is dr nick the second person in the simpsons to ever die? is it just he and maude?

september  said about 1 year ago:

and the series has lost it's heart.

101010101010101  said about 1 year ago:

Marvin Monroe, Frank Grimes, Bleeding Gums Murphy, Grandpa's girlfriend, a bunch of people have died.

101010101010101  said about 1 year ago:

The series lost it in season 10-14 or so, but it's slowly getting up. Lisa's episodes used to be annoying but are now the heart of the show, I reckon.

redlips  said about 1 year ago:

still haven't watched this... it's sitting in my room.

thegirlwhocrieddave  said about 1 year ago:

how did marvin die? and frank grimes? the others i remember.

redlips  said about 1 year ago:

finally watched this on sunday night and guess what!?

my DVD version from ''Even Better than Movieworld'' in Shanghai has an hilarious opening page...

It's a Ratatouille background with audio of Cartman singing ''Kyle's mum's a bitch'' and an overlay of the Simpson's titles (in Engrish). But it doesn't end there - the entire film has ''english'' subtitles that you can't turn off... they are quiet opbviously a bad english translation of a bad chinese translation of the film. The subtitles had us pissing ourselves and pausing/rewinding to catch 4-5 lines of absolute gobbledigook.

Some that I can remember:
[english audio/subtitles]
* ha ha/heartily heartily
* whatever barney says when he's crowd-surfing at the beginning (something to do with a weiner)/my favourite is a bean
* Springfield/often in the spring
* Bono/some long explanation of what the translator must have thought Bono was
* and sooooo many more!

Lemme know if anyone wants to borrow...

redlips  said about 1 year ago:

oh - and on the outside of the DVD, the credits were for Perfume and separate credits claimed that minni driver was in the film

101010101010101  said about 1 year ago:

I don't know how Marvin died, tgwcd, but Frank Grimes grabbed power cables in Homer's office and electrocuted himself. He was only in one episode.

michael_horse  said about 1 year ago:

marvin is alive

Monroe was thought to have died in ''The Springfield Connection.'' Other references to his death included the Marvin Monroe Memorial Hospital in ''Who Shot Mr. Burns? (Part One)'';a mention of his death in the 138th episode retrospective; and glimpses of both his grave and a school gym named after him. However, he appeared briefly in the season 15 episode ''Diatribe of a Mad Housewife'' - claiming to have been very sick. (The creators put the doctor on that ten-year-long hiatus because voicing Monroe hurt Shearer's throat.)

The new series of The Simpsons starts where the movie left off!

Not sure if anyone's seen this yet, but it rules.
