a new single - let's go surfing - a kind of barracudas-style surf pop number with a delightful whistling solo... got me hooked enough to buy it on itunes
they're probably the kind of band pitchfork hate though
here they are on youtube
and myspazz

I LOVE THIS SONG
yeah me too :)
do you know the barracudas neopleuromasterdon (wow, that took a lot of double checking)?
check out summer fun from drop out with the barracdus for the poifect programming couplet
lol they have this on their myspace page:
''New York's official Coolest New Band...''
but I do dig the muzac. my excitement turned flaccid when I noticed they're not touring here.
check out the comments section on that video.
Hahaha. It's a cute poppy song and they'll probably go on to do nothing much of great note. So it goes.
yep, get the 7'' now, because the reunion tour is a long way off yet
and > ''New York's official Coolest New Band...''
anything official is officially lame
are sideshows EVERY being announced????
Sideshows.
fuuuuck WHY MUST I BE IN AMURICA DURING ALL THIS EXCITING SHIT? have fun jerks.
huzzah!
Yay Motifs for getting the supports! Great lineup. Nice one guys.
is that the ''lover. i just wanna go surfing'' song i've heard on jjj a few times? if so, i can dig it.
that's the one sloth.
aces. i shall investigate further some time.
i like that song ''Forever & Ever Amen'' which i saw on rage on friday ... they are kind of catchy ...
I've become so keen on these guys since discovering them on the weekend. I've had Saddest Summer stuck in my head all morning. Is anyone going to the EBC gig?
monday august 2nd at EBC
and sold out

Oh wow, I just bought a ticket yesterday! lucky.
Sold out. Damn!
obama
i wanna go scalping
... no, not funny
coolest jerk - angry much?
did your band not get signed to modular or something?
that is correct, and I am very upset about it
Looking for two tickets to the Melbourne show, if anyone needs to offload.
This band wasn't for me at all, but the crowd was huge and appreciative. Go early and see the Motifs!
surprised how much backing track was going on with these guys. i like some of their songs on record, but live it wasn't for me. strutting singer dude was just shrieking the vox by the end. motifs were pretty good, though.
I quite liked them live although I will admit it was a bit different to recorded which I think is probably better. I really wish that this gig had have been played in Summer and I'd had way more energy to dance around to it. It's that kind of music. The lead dude was pretty overexcited for a cold winter night.
Motifs were great, nice to see them on a big stage.
whistle songs... like the peter bjorn and john tune their surfing song will live gloriously on my stereo for a couple of weeks before suddenly and violently backlashing.
anyone into the newy? angstier!!
Watching them now, nothing special. Cults were way more interesting.
Thought Cults were great but Drums were really really good. Singer was nowhere near as camp as last time but the band can now manage more than one note at a time, which could have been band but is actually ace. Special props to Danny Lee Allen, their new drummer who used to play in Youth Group. Didn't play enough old stuff but the new stuff was almost as catchy. Crowd (except Nony) went nuts.
i really like this stupid band for some reason. quite excited to see them tonight.
they australian?
nah
the sound sucked (thanks, Palace Theatre) but they were great. I had fun.
Jonathan Pierce is a perfect cross between Edwyn Collins and Morrissey.
checked them out last night at the palace as I scored a free ticket for me and a friend. we both didn't really feel anything watching them - it wasn't bad but it wasn't good either. cults were a lot more enjoyable.
they were fucking lame at laneway.
