New thread!

Green on Sydney Rd, hands down.
ew, no - massive portions, but average food, i feel. that's one i'd single out in the 'big reputation undeserved' category. so disappointed the few times i've been there.MichaelDudikoff said 1 day ago:
The Green Grocer does, Lilo. But they're pricks. As you no doubt already know.
Can't agree more!

The Corner Shop in Yarraville, opposite the cinema: get the baked eggs that come served in the pan.
Windsor deli, always and forever.
The breaky at MART in Middle Park is worth a go. Good coffee too.
Mart 130 is delicious!!!
Also: Amsterdam St, New York Tomato, Little Rebel
Mixed Business Clifton Hill makes a mean meatball roll
I'm gonna repeat what I said 2 days ago, already been eaten by evil thread-muncher. I went to Court Jester following suggestion from here , had the incredible cabbage rolls and pierogi... so good!
yeah, that's definitely very tasty.
a minor place, fandango, jungle juice, mitte.
oh and small block are back in my good books despite the stupid chairs.
can anyone else recommend anything vaguely out east? need to find somewhere halfway between home and mum.
was disappointed last time with my meatball roll at mixedb. it was big, but dry and kinda boring :(

Absolutely, I dont get why people still think this place is anything more than just average. Such flavorless food, although the breakfast stack is pretty rad.
As I said in the old thread I'm off to check out Court Jester this morning.
A Minor Place is off my list now that Benedict is off theirs.
Also they've started serving OJ that resembles Tang.
breakfast FAIL
any cheap recs?
paying 12 bucks for a plate of eggs and bacon is starting to give me the shits (figuratively speaking)
I'm a big fan of Albert Park Deli. The best coffee I've had in Melbourne.
Out east?
Liar Liar in Hawthorne.
Mailing Rooms in Cantebury (never eaten there but they make a spot on coffee).
Replete Providore, Barkers Road Hawthorn.
I am about to go there right now. Strawberry hotcakes here I come.
Great food average coffee I reckon
Camel just down the road is better - or a bit further again Icoco is awesome
that providor place was so overpriced pg. tried it a few weeks back. big breakfast had like 4 things on it for $18 and was totally uninspired. smallest big breakfast ever. croque monsieur was pretty decent, bubble n squeak was a joke. boo hiss!
they closed about eighteen months ago -- are they back somewhere? they were my number one.
replete providore's bubble n squeak had more piece of ham fat than actual ham. it was also tiny and without the flourishes you'd expect if you were paying $15 for a small bowl of ham and vegies.
now that a minor place has dropped their amazing benedict, we need a new neighbourhood breakfast place with good/inspired benny to add to our rotation. brunswick/carlton/fitzroy area...
tips?
Lilly's Cafe - 316 Victoria St, Brunswick. Cute as fuck.
My favourite café in Melbourne is now Cornershop. Not just for breakfast but for late night wine, irresistable dessert, sexy dinner and what-have-you.

where you at k2?
right near nicholson village / figs / bar fred / marias / carolina / etc
take the tram up Lygon to Brunswick East Project?
Pope Joan?
Tell me more about Pope Joan.
Any vegan options?
I'm at birdies now. Their coffee is not bad.
Pope Joan's great. Check out their granola, my friend makes it and she works there too. Just north of miller st on Nicholson st.
Yeah I like PJ - went there a lot when it first opened (when they did the ham steak with pineapple and chutney which I LOVED), and during the week it's fine, but I wouldn't go near the place on a weekend. So packed full of idiotic hipster rayban/beard combos pushing prams. I think people actually drive there.
Just going back to cafe go comment, the kids who set up Fandango used to work there in it's heyday.
poop joanne is good
God, does Pope Joan get packed or what!?
I really like Squirrel in Clifton Hill too, low key and friendly and they sell chocolate crackles and honey joys. They don't have eftpos though which has proven annoying on a couple of occasions.
'the hell are you complaining about this time k2? people driving cars to cafes?
dont make me get my angry stick
you are an angry stick.
I think my favourite cafe is currently Atomica. I know you all liked it before when it used to be good or whatever, but I like it now.
You know what? I'll say it.
Mario's fucking owns.
C'mon diddy, that isn't that controversial. Manhattan used to go on and on about that place.
My favourite cafe is currently Africa.
it was my friends who now own Cafe Go in Geelong.
it may not be as 'cool', but they have tried hard to get their clientele to like their new coffee and food. i think they have done a really good job, and haven't alienated the hospital staff etc who are their bread and butter. it's still not open sundays, but the guys need a rest at least one day.
Must have improved, used to be shit.
Best options for coffee in that area are North Island and Growers I reckon. But they might be a bit further from you k2 if you're west of Nicholson.
The Bishop of Ostia now open!
Just grabbed a coffee from Carolina. They seem to be a bit more together now. They also have a pretty great selection of beer and cider I noticed. Will try their food over the weekend possibly.
im eating a roast beef and goats cheese sandwich from Tea & Toast, the new place in the old trippy taco location on smith st
fucking tasty. its like a rare thin steak in there. mmmm.
