FROM VAN DIEMENS LAND

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

INTERVIEW

I think the world is for ever changing and for the worst. There has, is, and will always be conflict and violence in the world because our minds are so rotten with hatred towards mankind.

mathieson  said about 2 years ago:

Shaun, you need to get past this whiny, twee folk-pop that you're always plugging.

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

Interviewing Striborg is right on top of my 'to do' list.

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

ANOTHER INTERVIEW:

My music/lyrics are a transcendental chariot to the darkest and coldest planes possible on earth and in mind, dreams/subconscious and afterlife.

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

Q: Tasmania has had a dark and cruel history in the 200 years since the European invasion, including genocide, torture, mass-murder, and other forms of violence. Do you think this makes it an especially good place to create cruel and violent music?

Striborg: Yes.

fliegende hollander  said about 2 years ago:

I heard once that his name is Russell.

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

Terrorizer interview

“The true spirit of Mother Nature is my only source of enlightenment and can only be felt when free of mankind. And I do not care if anybody thinks I’m being politically or ecologically incorrect as this is the way I perceive the world on a spiritual level. I’m not interested in promoting anything: I despise the human race and I can’t help feeling this way, that’s all. Read my lyrics and you’ll see I’m always referring to humanity as some kind of parasite that gets in Nature’s way.”

Ben  said about 2 years ago:

Shaun, let me know if you need a photographer

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

alas, the internet says Striborg doesn't do interviews anymore.

carl_sagan  said about 2 years ago:

he produces good music but from those interviews he sounds like he's a douchebag.

blake3030  said about 2 years ago:

Sounds like a bit of a downer.

kellyclarksonisgold  said about 2 years ago:

he needs font guidance.

mathieson  said about 2 years ago:

Any progress, Shaun?

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

apparently his interview with Terrorizer was the last interview he'll ever do. I haven't started to chase it up though.

Terrorizer is amazing by the way. Metal writers are among the best music writers ever. Probably because you really have to know your shit - metal allows no bluffing.

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

also DECIBEL

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

Chat astrouserasmind has not only met Striborg, he's played in a band with him.

From this thread, re: whether Striborg can break dance or not:

He can. I've seen him. I used to play in a band with him and Zach VB called UFO and I distinctly recall him breakdancing in a FUCKING AMAZING way when hammered at a party on Goulburn St, though this was in 1994 and may not currently hold true.

mathieson  said about 1 year ago:

I was going to ask how old Striborg is, but then I realised that he has transcended ageing.

zeroman  said about 1 year ago:

Striborg's real name is Russell and he is very short and wanted to beat me up in the nineties for looking at his girlfriend, who he stole off my friend. Good drummer but.

onlysaid  said about 1 year ago:

holy shit. i used to always read terrorizer! i've got one or two of their CD comps with a bunch of unsigned bands from the UK. i remember really like Cry Debris for some reason. and that other band.. Chug? something ridiculous but whatever - the ed. described their 1.30min song as just a recording of a car crash. still remember it was a pretty good song.

i need to know about striborg breakdancing. i... just need to see it.

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

Apparently Striborg doesn't live in Snug anymore.

Block  said about 1 year ago:

Hey shaun, what would you have done if he'd called this album ''Blissful Catharsis'' ?

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

Blissful catharsis wasn't considered a 'dumb word combination' back in 2004.

Scale  said about 1 year ago:

Apparently Striborg doesn't live in Snug anymore.

Nope, he lives out the back of Collinsvale if what i've heard is true.

He's been seen quite recently dropping prouduct off at Tommygun, a Hobart record store.

jimm  said about 1 year ago:

Any recommendations for a good place to start with Striborg?

raven  said about 1 year ago:

So how about that Everett True dude and his Thin Kids?

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

I've only got Solitude and the Embittered Darkness/Isle de Morts reissue. Both are great, the later is probably the best place to start though.

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

latter

anonymous  said about 1 year ago:

striborg should play a m+n lunchbox series.

venue can put calves heads on the menu.

somnia  said about 1 year ago:

Sounds more likely than Snug. Snug seems just so 'cutesy'. Collinsvale on the other hand is just demented in every way possible. Went for a wander up Collins Cap the other week and was (perhaps unreasonably) expecting the car to be stolen by the time we got back and to be replaced by a burning pentagram and severed animal parts. The people that live there...

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

On google maps satellite view Collinsvale is veiled in fog. How grrimm.

Goal attack  said about 1 year ago:

the other night I put my youngest kid to bed, put the blankets on and said ''there, now you're all snug''. I immediately thought of Striborg.

perhaps you'd rather live in a fake world of gothic forest death stuff?
sounds amazing

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

The one time I saw Striborg it was rather shit unfortunately.

angelicIV  said about 1 year ago:

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

thread needs a bump because I've been listening to a gutted wolf worth of Striborg lately.

raven  said about 1 year ago:

Does Striborg wear horns on his helmet?

specialaward  said about 1 year ago:

there's nothing to suggest it..

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

Apple24  said about 9 months ago:

Bump? I once found a Striborg CD in the bargan bin of JB.

Best.

rawr  said about 9 months ago:
