I downloaded these yesterday. Haven't gotten around to listening yet.

CaptainFez  said about 2 years ago:

I like them a bunch. Some of the stuff I've heard reminds me of those Warp samplers... high quality throughout!

The cover for the new NWA comp is by Grant Hunter, who also designed the last Cyclic Defrost cover:

angry animals. vol.2 a bit too laid back. i like vol.1 more. Telafonica, Kyu, Raven, Loom, Brutal Hate Mosh. dig.

tadatadatada  said about 2 years ago:

yeah, i like vol 1 more as well. only played 2 once thru so far though. improvised saxophone is really not my favourite instrument in the world however.

CaptainFez  said about 2 years ago:

See, I liked a lot of the more downtempo stuff on the second disc - loving the opening track in particular. I liked that William Gardiner track a lot, too - sort of Glass/Nyman/Kats-Chernin-esque.

I wonder whether the discs will turn into gigs...

Yep there's a New Weird Australia showcase at This Is Not Art. Sunday October 4. FEATURING: Go Genre Everything, Polyfox And The Union Of The Most Ghosts, Brutal Hate Mosh, Lucia Draft, Alps, kyü, Moonmilk, Castings, Blastcorp, smRts, Gugg, Holy Balm

tinyman  said about 2 years ago:

Trust your head, tiny. Also, this series is fantastic. Such a shame about the terrible name, though.

trafficsounds  said about 2 years ago:

NOT HEAVY ENOUGH

we've been waiting all this time for you to come back and that's the best you can muster eldritch?

TRY HARDER. METAL.

Hellzapoppin  said about 11 months ago:

I'd like to say that I've been thoroughly enjoying this new compilation. The opening Axxonn track is simply superb and I think Machine Death may be fast-tracking itself into this months number one.

flukazoid  said about 11 months ago:

I can't remotely comprehend how this new compilation is metal, but it's fantastic all the same. Nearly all of it seems to take its cues from the noise universe, which is fine by me - but why they called it ''metal'' I'm utterly mystified.

tinyman  said about 11 months ago:

drum'n bass special next please.

whale  said about 11 months ago:

if you can really call doom drone metal

raven  said about 11 months ago:

Axxonn and Machine Death FTW, yes indeed.

It's quite bleak at least.

BennyChips  said about 10 months ago:

Can't think of any better new aus music than Phrase and Miami Horror. What they're doing with Snickers Sessions is going to make some of the best music of the year! SO EXCITED! Check it out!

I like the comps, but don't think they're very 'weird'

What do you think it is? Looks like a balloon in a stocking to me.
Anyway, this comp is fantastic, I am very recommend.

Hellzapoppin  said about 8 months ago:

Good times.

raven  said about 8 months ago:

It's ace. The only thing I don't like about this comp is that because it's co-compiled by Gail Priest, it doesn't have anything by her on it!
