ok so here's the deal...
i am always tired despite getting atleast 8 hours sleep a night.
what is the best way to fix this?
i dont drink coffee, so should i just be smashing energy drinks all the time?
or is there a healthier way?
Go back to bed.
what time do you wake up in the morning?
how much exercise do you get?
do you eat shitty food?
do you burn energy by getting anxious about modern life?
i get up at 6.50 or 7.50 depending on what time i need to start work.
i dont get much exercise.
i eat pretty healthy though.
would going to the gym help this at all?
are you a single mum with a daughter?
I'd suggest Landmark Education. You guys heard of it? PM me your mobile number if you want more details.
asking mess+noise is the first step to recovery. congratulations.
do you smoke copious bongs?
hmm it rings a bell...
isnt that just in sydney though? im in melbourne.
what is it, like a personal training thing?
It could be fucking anything, go to your GP. Geezus.
I find I possess a shitload more energy when I exercise for an hour a day at least a couple of times a week.
Sorry for taking this at face value, but I am a credulous bloke.
get exercise dummy!!
exercise. and better food. but mostly exercise. i sleep best on days when i do at least half an hour's exercise.
and get your iron levels checked.
you could have rabies, though.
more steak, more pushups.
halp.
I've met with this cunt from a service provider of ours 3 times, and each time he has told me that I look tired. Prick.
Were you tired every time?
Good diet, exercise, try not to drink too much. Take a multivitamin. Have regular sleeping patterns. Relax a bit - meditate if you have to. Especially if you've got anxiety, meditate.
Woolfat - are you taking your calcium like I told you? I stopped taking mine for a week, wondered why I felt crap, then took I realised why and life returned to normal.
i'm talking calcium and vit d.
the exercise one is tricky, i need to start swimming again.
no time to meditate! NO TIME!

See, I really don't get the meditation stuff, or the hypnotic tapes or any of that. Being an extreme sceptic by nature, if I even try that stuff, within about 3 minutes my mind goes ''this is fucking stupid''.
rawr, a family friend of ours was trying to sell that to my mum. i don't know much about it other than what he told me but because he was ranting about it, i'm inclined to avoid it. in fact, i'd like to beat him with it.
(but it could be really good. but that guy is a creep.)
alcohol is proven to disrupt sleep patterns. not a wise suggestion.
rawr, i've had a friend suggest that, saying it's the best book on mindfulness that she's ever read.
Part of the reason I'm constantly tired is because I drink too much and don't get ''proper'' rest sleep. Your body is recuperating from drinking alcohol, and all the other shit it needs to recuperate from isn't being recuperated properly.
yep, alcohol and sleep = bad.
Experience has shown that if you're tired and stressed all the time, you might actually have obstructive sleep apnea. Which means you wake yourself up about 400 times a night without even knowing it.
Not a great discovery to make, but it does explain why I've been tired and cranky for the last 20 years.
haha this is why i like you, woolfat.
cool, might check it out. i find that just reading in general helps my brain settle down/concentrate on one thing.
haha rawr, a coworker has started calling me ''caustic'' in place of my first name. haha. i'm really not that bad? (i don't think)
dogbastard, i have had periods of sleep apnea and other sleep disorders (sleep paralysis..fun stuff)...i hadn't really thought about it recently though, it might be worth investigating.
There's not much you can do about it except strap yourself to a machine that pumps air down your windpipe every hour of every night. Tres romantic.
''Restless leg syndrome'' is a good one too.
Sleep disorders are fucked.
the upside to it though is that you get to sound like darth vader while you're sleeping.
dogbastard, the guys i know with c-pap machines have said that the difference is unbelievable
my tonsils were causing it, dogbastard. i don't know if it still happens because i no longer share a bed on a regular basis - so who knows, it may well be. but i used to wake myself up gasping for air and haven't done that in a while.
the sleep paralysis comes and goes. happened this morning though - the sensation of someone sitting on my chest. extremely mild compared to other times though.
and restless legs - don't even start me.
Maybe you can try ZMA? It is basically Zinc, Mag and B6. PM me if you want my homemadeb formula (cut up zinc/mag/b6 tablets). Take it 30mins before bed time, empty tummy. It improved my sleep heaps!
I did a 4-week course at the local library a few years ago, and it was a great intro to meditation, which I've continued to explore on-and-off. Definitely interesting to try if you want to get to see what your mind does when you're not even trying to think, and then learn to work with what you find. They did, however, bring some religious paraphernalia to the last class (set up a little ''shrine'' with a picture of the founder etc) and tried to get us to sing a little song about Buddha. That put me off side a bit. They might have eased off with that sort of thing, but just be warned if you're severely atheist and it might bother you. Overall it was good though.
Mo, I did a 6-month trial of CPAP last year and though I did feel a difference initially, I ended up swallowing more air than I inhaled, so as well as sounding like Darth Vader, I also woke up pregnant every night and then farted my way through til morning. I assumed (rightly, I think), that my bed-partner preferred being woken up by snoring than farting.
So I gave it up, but will have to try again eventually. Aoplogies if that's too much information.
No.

yeah, they still do that because they are buddhists and that is their faith. they don't make you try and sing the song though.
i personally didn't mind it. i have respect for those who choose to hold faith in their lives, even though i'm not religious in any way at all. if two minutes of a little song is the worst that can come of it, then that's ok with me. and that little song is damn infectious. they are so happy singing it.

not too much info, i have been holding off doing my trial at the sleep clinic place for apnea, and it's good/interesting to know some of the bad side effects because the dues i know only talk about the good, not any of the negatives
I still remember the tune! Sure, it was pretty low-key stuff and as far as religions go, I actually have a lot of respect for Buddhists - I actually just finished reading an 8-volume manga about the big man himself! I guess it just set me off, like: oh no! here comes the conversion bit! But it wasn't really like that. And I'd encourage folks to do the course. I'd also recommend this book which is more from the mindfulness vs depression angle, and comes with a CD of guided meditations.
