Text Formatting / Markdown

Jason  said about 2 years ago  or at  6:22AM on Tuesday, August 11 2009 in chat

What do you guys like/dislike how text is formatted here?

Am looking to move away from Markdown with something that's more intuitive.

A few ideas:

  1. Making line breaks to work as expected
  2. Support for using basic HTML (links, images, blockquotes, etc) that can be validated and displayed without breaking the layout.
  3. Dropping support for all the obscure markdown features (references with id's, code blocks, headers, etc)
  4. Keeping support for the current link, bold, italic, lists, and quoting syntax.

Your turn.

The line breaks thing has destroyed my life. I put two spaces at the end of everything now. Just to be sure.

I think jason's already started.

I just typed ''/sarcasm'' in a pair of pointed brackets, and it got treated as HTML.

[maybe square?]
