D-Gen

jbahsavvy  said about 2 years ago  or at  4:49PM on Thursday, May 28 2009 in television

Probably the second best comedy Australia has produced (Late Show coming in first). Nick Bufalo should never have been lost to ACP, John Harrison is apparently a senior solicitor.

But wasn't the D Gen the name of the group of people that did the Late SHow?

I watched a few episode of Frontline recently. That was a great show. Almost as funny as the real Today Tonight.

cheezel  said about 2 years ago:

the late show was awesome.....i remember not goin anywhere on a saturday night till the late show was over.

crackwhore  said about 2 years ago:

all of yours anon.

SheikYerbouti  said about 2 years ago:

I concur that the Late Show was one of the greatestest ever shows. Anyone who disagrees with me is wrong.

tangy_zizzle  said about 2 years ago:

I have a lot of original episodes of the late show. Many of them are shithouse. Rose coloured glasses and all that. The good stuff is still good though.

tangy_zizzle  said about 2 years ago:

A lot of its strength came from the fact that it was live I reckon.

Best Aussie comedy ever?

Kingswood fucken Country.

crapbandname  said about 2 years ago:

d gen was good at the time. I think it was quiet in comedy and it came out? either that or I was young.

crapbandname  said about 2 years ago:

I liked vizard too before well you know..he should have been the dave of australia for ever

sister  said about 2 years ago:

colin carpenter is even better than D-gen. They were much better as The Late Show.

Personally I'm a bit of a Naked Vicar Show girl.

Bite yer bum Narelle.

crackwhore  said about 2 years ago:

struth sister! you can't be serious.

SheikYerbouti  said about 2 years ago:

Pigs Arse. ''Skivvies are back'' is one of the greatest sketches ever.

Norman Gunston on the steps of parliament, the day of the dissmissal.

Thread Closed.

Bittervictorian  said about 2 years ago:

Go back and watch the Late Show now. You will regret it.

anonymous  said about 2 years ago:

nah you won't.

anonymous  said about 2 years ago:

i watched all of the 1993 series about 2 years ago, held up pretty good, and there was the bonus of laughing at 1993 fashion, and its a interesting historical record due to the news based stuff.

and it had a nice post george bush/democrat as the president correlation going on.

juicenewton*  said about 2 years ago:

laughing at 1993 fashion

mick molloy's ceasar haircut for starters.

On the chick front - Jane Kennedy was carried on the Late Show. Give me any Jane Turner/Marg Downey sketch from Fast Forward anyday. In fact FF had the greatest 'characters' overall.

anonymous  said about 2 years ago:

though will admit, maybe its more a melbourne thing.

Goal attack  said about 2 years ago:

I beg to differ:

djbollocks  said about 2 years ago:

D-Gen was rad! I still think the sketch with the beached labradors is the highpoint of Australian sketch comedy.

Early Fast Forward was genius too, a lot of the same people from D-Gen and equally as funny.

Goal attack  said about 2 years ago:

I know, that's why I was begging to differ that Fast Forward had the best characters.

It's No Bingles, that's for sure.

I was pretty thrilled when I got a hold of both series a few years back. After sitting down and watching it all, I found that almost everything I enjoyed was on the Champagne Edition DVD. Those Commerical Crimestoppers bits still make me laugh. Muckraking... not so much.

I still laugh at the Happy Birthday Helen clip. ''I've Just Run out of Melbourne Cliches''

Bittervictorian  said about 2 years ago:

I loved it when I was a NSW kiddy. As an adult, not so much...

Fielding Mellish  said about 2 years ago:

How rad is the German Phrasebook skit from D-Genocide. It has ''all seven german phrases''. So Rad.

bad cop bad cop a close second.

fakeplasticme  said about 2 years ago:

Frontline's the best thing the Working Dog crew have done, closely followed by The Late Show. I've got the whole third season on DVD and watched it a few months back, held up fairly well.

The Micallef Program/Programme/Pogram, The Games and We Can Be Heroes are all up there for me too.

Modi  said about 2 years ago:

I think you're all forgetting a little show called All Together Now?

Australia You're Standing In It!

Has anyone mentioned Ratbags? John Derum before he became the voice of regional Orstralya (Mars Bars recipes), and Rod Quantock in the very early days.
