I quite like them. Only have two songs but she's got a great voice. Anyone else heard her?

I really like 'Dog Days Are Over'.

ichabod  said about 2 years ago:

any sideshows announced?

Tim_Marben  said about 2 years ago:

Any haters should definitely check this out, I was a skeptic 'til I saw her live, v cool presence, awesome band. Is it going to be a local support or is she bringing The XX with her? (also a fucking ace band)

devines  said about 2 years ago:

the xx remix of 'you've got the love' is awesome.

devines  said about 2 years ago:

or is it a cover? anyway, it's rad.

timewaster  said about 2 years ago:

She has a nice voice. But the music is all so wet.

Polydor sign Florence and package her for the Coldplay / Snow Patrol fans with soggy tissues up their arses. It's all so over-earnest and ultimately fake. I don't think she's gonna have longevity like Cat Power.

Wonsly  said about 2 years ago:

yeah she is quite generic. blah theres a lot of hers going around.

Hazard_Man  said about 2 years ago:

I was confused as to where to place her / them in the scheme of music . . . I've decided on Moloko.

tinyman  said about 2 years ago:

i listened. i'm not hearing what all the fuss is about.

i'm not hearing a Moloko connection either. Roisin Murphy has a more distinctive voice, Moloko had half a dozen awesome tunes. rough estimate only, i'm not going to list them. Well, Flipside and Forever More were great in my head. and the fashion and the video clips! ok, i admit, i haven't seen any bit of Florence and the Machine save for the album cover.

Hazard_Man  said about 2 years ago:

The Moloko thing came after seeing the visuals... video and live footage. She does the same eclectic music / glam / weird thing that Roisin does.

She's a bit Sia too, but Sia's a bit more arty weird.

If anyone can part with a ticket for tonight in Melbourne my friend is willing to pay absurd amounts of money for it.

tugboat  said about 2 years ago:

She is a bit Meh.

samiek  said about 2 years ago:

Very meh..

but La Roux my be more mah..

tugboat  said about 2 years ago:

Don't give a fuck RE: La Roux anyway.
Florence's got a good voice though.

untold/animals  said about 2 years ago:

Florence and the glances at watch, stretches

samiek  said about 2 years ago:

yeah she does.
maybe if Florence sang in LaRoux we would have a band worth the hype.

Goal attack  said about 2 years ago:

yuck - strident, much? besides, her website has a fucking ad for deoderant set to auto-play. WTF is with that shit?

Texaco  said about 2 years ago:

I prefer Marina & The Diamonds.

dj  said about 2 years ago:

Isn't that the song that was on the last episode of Sex in the City?

tugboat  said about 2 years ago:

Saw ''You've got Dirtee Love'' (with Dizzee Rascal) live at Brit Award on Rage.
Awesome.

samiek  said about 2 years ago:

Are you joking Tugy? that was atrocious! there was nothing good about that 'song'.
of the 4 'songs' i saw live on that show, it was all about youthful good looks, big productions, being an 'it' artist, and they completely forgot about anything approaching an actual good song. there was no songs!!!!!

switchbladesisters  said about 2 years ago:

sounds like Sophie B Hawkins.

CaptainFez  said about 2 years ago:

Currently background music on the Masterchef teaser.

samiek  said about 2 years ago:

seriously at least in the 80s half the acts were ugly, pushing 30's and had some good songs!!
like the buggles, their hit will be around forever, but they would never get on tv/radio now, not marketable enough. there are heaps of cool acts from back then that you would never see now, and we are left with cool kids with no songs!

there were no songs that will be around in 10 or even 5 years on the Brit awards.

I am not a big fan of Florence nor Dizzee. But the performance is pretty cool though.

Zaphod  said about 2 years ago:

I haven't heard any of the songs, but are they selling tickets where you can just go and ogle her?

Florence Welch Horn Thread???

Coz  said about 2 years ago:

One night I got slightly drunk, and decided to look Florence & the Machine up on Youtube to see what all the fuss was about. In my drunken state, I got very pissed off about all the hype surrounding this outfit and that fact that it made me waste my time watching what is essentially just... crap.

I want that 30 seconds of my life back.

timewaster  said about 2 years ago:

It's just wet schmindie music for people who like Snow Patrol records. She has a nice voice though.

Quoted for truth. In fact I'll be quoting that all weekend timewaster.

andydepressant  said about 2 years ago:

This is top forty music. So is the Gossip.

Tim_Marben  said about 2 years ago:

Naaaahhh, I'd never lump the Gossip and Flo together. Beth is so much more punk.

andydepressant  said about 2 years ago:

No she is not. She sings like a showy ''soul'' diva and writes banal lyrics and melodies. Get's naked and is fat are entirely extraneous facts.

Benji  said about 3 months ago:

This.

Oh, and this band is definitely on Jenny from accounts' iPod Shuffle...

In some big newsagent I was flicking thru some music mags I don't recognise.

And oh my, this Florence lady can look amazing!
