went to borders in Pitts St Mall at lunchtime and they've closed down.
suddently gone is my regular 'what to do when I don't have anything else to do at lunchtime' back up of going to Borders and leafing through their massive collection of magazines and periodicals from around the world for an hour.
anyone know of another bookstore or similar in Sydney CBD that's got a similarly massive range of mags that I can while away my lunch hour while flicking through?
Kinokinuya bookstore used to have good mag selection but they've got rid of there's.

How about a library?
There's that bookshop next to Utopia Records. The back of the shop is covered in dirty, dated porn. Like big haired early 90s magazines and stuff.
Or so I've been told.....
kinokuniya?
whoops. should read first.
utopia's near syd uni these days yeah? sorry, that's too far for me to get too. I'd walk there in my lunchhour and I'd have to turn right back.
I was going to suggest Mag Nation, but it's a Melbourne thing...
Sounds good...but yeah....I'd definitely have to come straight back the minute I touched down at Tullamarine. That's a long lunch hour.
library is deft a great idea. free dvd loan too.
where's a library in central CBD? I think there's a branch in Haymarket on George St...but is there one deeper in town?
used to be one behind town hall
hmmmm...okay...will check out City of Sydney website.
But in the meantime, I'm still interested in any shop suggestions as I'm guessing they might have a more up tod ate range of mags.
Customs House!!! Still a bit too far for me.
town hall
What about the MCA/AGNSW? The shops in them usually have a nice selection of mags/books to flick through.
ah cool...thanks __v - I missed that one.
Up to date, as in, bigger range of mags? Or the most recent editions? I don't think you're giving your local library enough credit!
most recent editions. yeah, you're probably right. I don't know where but somewhere back in time me and libraries fell out of love. I still remember making awkward convo with a girl I had the hots for on the back of a bus once in my teen years....grasping for something to say...anything....I pointed to the recently renovated Stanton Library in North Sydney as we drove past and said, ''Have you been into the new library? It's really great. They have an awesome cassette collection''....and she looked at me as if I was from Mars. Convo went further downhill after that.
Maybe that's where me and libraries started down our own separate paths. It's probably time I tried to patch things up.
it was the girl's performance that was lacking in that exchange, burtbacharach - not your own.
your life since that moment has been a lie.
I know...I know....
Bad news. went to City of Sydney's Town Hall library yesterday. Very small and even smaller mag selection - just a few Vogues scattered around the place.
want to find a place in Sydney CBD that had the kickarse mag selection that Borders had - particularly on the architectural/home design side - but where I'll be free to read without a newsagent proprietor telling me to either buy the mag or piss off.
tried the library at customs house (have ignored rest of thread)
there's whole bunches of mags there on the left hand side walking in (ground floor)
yeah....am thinking that's my best hope anon...onlyprob is that it's a bit far for me to walk during lunch hour...I'll have to come straight back once I get there, but I might give it a go and power walk down there.
