Rad show – humans are such fucking cunce though. It seems the cool way to discard of a still-burning cigarette is to throw it into crowd, somewhere far enough away that the people whose hair it lands on can't find you. I saw this happen about 4 or 5 times but didn't see exactly who it was so I could spit in their faces and then smoosh the spit in with a fist. Also, I wouldn't do that.

The 20-minute ode to douche-baggery Runaway did kind of encourage people though.

Last night was mesmerizing. He was so sincere and charismatic. 1.5 hrs solid performance; 0.5 hr autotuned speech/confession/rant; over the top theatrical production; great band; aweaome ballerinas; surprisingly friendly crowds; sing-a-long; lighters in the air; Coldstream Cider.

i think we were in a bad pocket on the hill. Girls on shoulders for extended periods in front blocking views, on shoulders behind kicking us in the back. Girls finishing their sparkling wine and throwing the cup into the crowd forward. Girls dancing excessively and bumping into as many people as possible to clear more space for them to dance excessively. Girls screeching the lyrics out of time and tune.

as for the show, i didn't enjoy it as much as his last tour, but i liked hearing a lot of Monster live.

i really think Kanye needs to film his show with a single fixed concert, then sit down and review it with open eyes. no one wants to hear his whining when he whines enough in a song.

it's not just the whining either. i don't wanna hear the same chord progression belted out on an electric piano over and over for 15 mins without variation. also wondered whether he's ever reviewed his show, or if any of his ppl have ever questioned the merit of the rants... or even the flow of it all. after a blistering first half of the set the mega-sooks seemed to be really close together and just completely compromised the flow.

god he's a hilarious douchebag/sweetie pie though. that crappy sample playing in runaway just endeared him to me even more.

i dunno how much i'd talk up the 'band' when 95% of the music (which was disappointingly quiet where i was) seemed like backing track.

the crowd near me was totally wholesome and fine. my little brother and his friends were hugging, excited and rapping/singing along for heaps of it, which was completely adorable to witness.

pissed that he didn't play paranoid or the glory, but knew that'd be the case anyway. just felt extra shitty with the aforementioned faffing about.

also, when he kept restarting 'All of the Lights' for the crowd to get 'my nigga dead' right it was getting a bit tedious

i think you'd be surprised how much the synth players were adding. The backing tracks were really stripped back to drums and various samples; I'm fairly sure most of the bass was coming from the front synth player, and they were both playing a lot of the pads and arpeggiated bits.

I certainly heard more duff notes and off time stuff at Kanye than at a NIN gig...

well, that's encouraging. i did notice some live stuff, but was probably too far away to assess properly. there were quite a few tracks where they were off-stage though.

i liked the re-work of stronger. not a fan normally.
