Is there already a thread? Who knows!
Anyway I'm gonna be in this fine city for the first week or september.
Anyone got any good suggestions/resources/hot tips for stuff going on? Where to stay, places to go?
Be there with three friends and we're thinking of sub-letting an apartment (there's tons on craigslist) for the week, any advice?
Inform me, M+N!

You could wait and see if loveisafist logs in, she is living there and would know about all things cool.
Also, think there are some other threads floating around, however, hard to find shit on here these days.
aww.. i thought this thread was about the band Berlin..
sigh.. one day, cake..one day!
*sings Take My Breath Away *
ha! i love that!
One thread...you may have already seen it?
Another thread...
I'm gonna be there in December! excited
thanks poprocks!
pm jimmytrash. He'll get you drunk.
plenty of info here
Friedrichshain / Kreuzberg / Prenzlauer Berg is where you should direct your attention.
I like both the city Berlin and the band Berlin.
if anyone has any accom suggestions for Berlin, i am looking for a nice enough hotel or hostel (or however else they have over there, a cheap nice room is what i mean) for a couple in Berlin over July 10-14?
thanks!!
(:
I stayed here, Wonsly... No complaints!
Also, this place was recommended to me - bit more expensive though...
Can't remember the prices, but I stayed at The Circus a couple of years ago. Clean and friendly and value for money. Ace location too.
If that's not your speed, I highly recommend looking at hostelworld.com. Great for finding cheap and nice places to stay in all over Europe.
We ended up renting a sweet as fuck apartment in the middle of the city for a week, if anyone cares. 2 months to go!

We stayed at Itowe Gallery and it was freakin' awesome! A fully equipped apartment inside a working church in Kreuzberg. Unfortunately it looks as though the owner Greg is still renovating it (we were the last guests pre-renovation) but you can still stay in his other apartment in Friedrichshain. He is a very camp, doting, southern american that has been living in Berlin for 15 years. We preferred the independence of the church as we stayed two weeks, but for a few days sharing facilities with Greg won''t such a big deal if you are prepared to humour him whilst he mollycoddles you. I can't find the original link, we hooked it up through berlin craigslist
So I need to get from Frankfurt to Berlin and I recall german rail prices being really expensive over there, but if you're a foreigner who books ahead it's a fair bit cheaper..
would I do this via DB's site or is there some other reseller?
Yeah you book directly from the DB website. Trains are pretty expensive, there's a couple of ways to saving money. Use carpooling / share a ride pages such as mitfahrzentrale, if you get a ride it works out so much much cheaper, and there's always lots of rides going to every destination (downside you can really only find out about lifts 3 days prior or even later, so not ideal if you're a militant planner). Also if you're travelling on the weekend, train tickets allow you to travel with up to four other people on the one ticket, these websites also advertise for people to share the fare of a ticket (you too can also advertise). Or just hitch.
A few questions if anyone can help:
-how long/how much cash would it take to get from the city proper to Schoenefeld airport for a ryanair flight? especially if it's leaving early (like 9am early.. so I'd want to be there before 8 I guess to be safe)
-(I should just ask them but) is there any discount on DB fares booking through Australian travel agents? I'm considering the bus to avoid a 70 euro 4 hour ride but eh, you gotta pay what you gotta pay in the end..

I was speaking about the second half. In my time there it was the drunks, the homeless, the punks and the slew of tourists drinking on pt.
Plenty of the first three but yet to see someone I could ID as a tourist drinking on PT. Maybe I'm hanging around the wrong lines...
Perhaps, perhaps. I remember a lot of them- I guess the novelty hadn't worn off yet.
Do you take the u8 much? Can you tell me if the gangrenous guy is still around? I had the suspicion the poor guy wouldn't see the last winter out...
I've seen plenty of tradesmen having a breakfast beer on 7am trains.
Either that or they're coming home from a club where you have to wear overalls to get in.
Have been on the U8 a fair bit but haven't seen anyone with gangrene.
There was a guy who used to get on at hermannplatz. His feet were rotting (I wish I was joking) and the smell was so bad that he'd clear out not only the carriage he was in, but the one in front/behind, too. Even long after he got off the smell would linger and you could tell if he'd been on the train even if you couldn't see him. Poor bastard.
never hide
Been on the u8 pretty much every day since the start of august, thankfully haven't detected that. Though a month ago I was walking to Hermannplatz Bahnhof and a homeless guy pulled his pants down and took a massive shit right on the footpath. I think I looked a lot more shocked than the two teenage Turkish girls walking the other way.
Also anyone know how much Lucky Dragons show is? On an iPhone and it's kinda hard to find out.
I like the fact you were around long enough to see it was massive.
I think it's €16.50.
I didn't bust out the tape measure at the time, but I did have to avoid it at least twice a day for the next couple of weeks. Shit-avoidance skills are pretty important here…
Anyway, I think I'll be there wearing a Men's Recovery Project t shirt if anyone wants to say hi.
OK
Skeletons suck.
Playing at Madame Claude tonight.
