As we're in a financial crisis and all.....
- I'm going to start stealing toilet roll from work instead of buying boxes of tissues.
- I'm going to drink water and white food colouring and pretend it's milk as it'll be cheaper.
- The cat can eat Chubb for a few years instead of Fancy Feast.
- No more going out to nice restaurants. I'm taking Ratz to McDonalds for our anniversary next year.
- No more air conditioning or heater. We can burn stuff or cover ourselves in ice. Or eat gone off food if it's Winter and just keep warm by having a fever.

i bury my money in the garden. waiting for it to grow a money tree. but instead i found some local stray bunnies are now cruising around in a new car. suspicious.
When you have money, don't spend it. Then you will have money later on.
Bullshit, Moke.
where the fuck do you get white food colouring?
oh, and a cigar tube filled with bee's makes a great vibrator and saves on batteries.
Racist
that's not what liquid paper's for.
hahah. refilling with new bees mid way thru must be a hassle. i don't kow how long bees would last.
Does this make sense to anyone else? Can someone translate?
i agree with modi. Quit buying shit.
*I'm going to start stealing toilet roll from work instead of buying boxes of tissues. *
Already ahead of you there. It's more the point of not having to buy it and thinking the checkout person was imagining how I shit. As I used to do when working behind one.
but we have to! krudd gave us the cash in good faith. stimulate the economy and all.
1er cru is shorthand for premier cru. wine n that.

i got naked visuals of anyone who bought condoms. wether i wanted to or not. yuk.
Yoghurt is easy to make. a litre of milk, a tablespoon of yoghurt, leave it on the bench overnight, then put it in the fridge.
Awwww - that's so cute coming from you SS!
Or the freezer, should you want Froghurt.
See, frog hurt. You really are an animal abuser!
Stay warm and cut down on heating bills this winter
No frogs though, I've just been throwing yoghurt at cows and throwing them in the Westinghouse to make them produce yoghurt straight up. Or Yoghurt and ice for Froghurt.
I am thinking of a way to track down my spending.
At the moment, I'm using a pocket budget app and have an excel sheet of how much money would you save by inputing your wages and yearly/monthly/weekly budget for things (like $600 car rego/yearly, $30.40 PT/weekly, $130 grocery/weekly, $50 eating out and fun/weekly).
Is there a excel sheet template to add up my spending? (like, show me how much I spend on each thing monthly/yearly?)
I have a pretty simple formula for calculating that. Take note how much money you spend in the next hour. Put that in Field 1A. In field 2A put this formula =1A x 24. This will work out your daily expenditure. In Field 3A put =2A x 7. This is your weekly expenditure. In field 4A, put =3A x 52. This will calculate you annual expenditure.
you can use this to calculate income too. Just enter how much money you make in the next hour in field 1A.
google docs has heaps of budget templates you can use. I use the Family Budget Planner and it's just me using it and I find it the most useful when I actually remember to use it!
hahaha
This is flawed. Going off the last hour, I have an annual expenditure of $0. Going off 5pm-6pm this afternoon (happy hour) , I have an annual expenditure of $104,832.
I knew a guy who used to make heaps of ham and cheese sandwiches on sunday and freeze them to eat all week. Pretty gross but I guess it saved money and time.
Are you a climate change denialist too coz? The theory is solid.
You can't argue with good solid maths.
10% of your earnings, every week.
No, I know climate change is real, I actively contribute to it wherever possible. Hence I will one day live in a state where it's warm enough to surf all year round, without ever having to move from my Brunswick East enclave.
how is the money saving going for everyone?
we hemorrhaged a large chunk of cash across these past few weeks due to unexpected things like wheels falling off cars while driving. it's a never ending up and down battle, this whole saving thing.
not so great, because i've moved house and had silly expenses that come with the increase of rent and bond. so still out of pocket. but looking to implement the savings plan the second i can..
it never seems to end does it? it's funny though, the people i know who earn heaps still complain about not having any money. perhaps the dream of starting a commune in the country is the answer. live off the land and cups of tea.
Im now in an alright position to save and am starting to get back on a roll with it. But still, you always find something that you need to chip out of your savings for, like car rego and tyres.
Ive got a money box I made that once its shut you need a drill, screw driver, hammer and a saw to get into it. Pretty sturdy piece of work. I had around 2 grands worth of coins in it once.
Tea bags are good for about 3 cups.
Steal vegetable bags from supermarkets to use as poop bags (if you have a dog, like me)
Go veggie
Bulk buy veg, make soup, and freeze it in plastic takeaway containers you have saved. If you haven't saved any, begin to.
If you smoke straights, change to rollies.
That's all I got.
piggy banks are awesome for saving. our piggy is huge. holds a fair chunk of coin. lately i've been filling it with $5 notes at the end of the day as well. surely that's gotta add up.
are you saving for anything specific yoghurt?
its just the fact that every payday i've had to part with a large sum of money, meaning that i don't have the means to put bits and pieces aside to budget properly. i'm in a bit of a tailspin.
don't fall down the rabbit hole of MTM clothing and updating your iphone with every release
i rarely ever buy clothes (i hate clothes shopping) and i don't own an iphone, i have an android, and most of those apps are free.
the more you earn the more you spend. I worked for the government and had no money, currently I receive newstart and have the same amount of no money.
I really could save a lot of spondula by not buying coffee every day at work, or buying lunch as often, or buying ridiculously expensive curios.
Yeah, I'm crap at saving, however I have an auto-savings account that just takes a certain amount every fortnight, sure I can pillage it whenever I want but my hoarding mentality often prevents me from doing so. Must be all the Ungle Scrooge comics I read when I was younger.
Instead of buying a $30 compilation just for one song you need to have try and hunt down a $10 7'' instead.
It'll save you money, honest.
cheap flights
I have bought far too many $10 7''s recently for this to be money saving.
Fekken' brilliant!
rent in sunshine not brunswick.
I will end up killing myself and funeral ain't cheap, so no.
don't they just put you out with the recycling in sunshine...
or 'as' the recycling.
You're starting to talk like Mrs JRB.
I have been making coffee with my Hario hand grinder and Aeropress instead of buying coffee for 8 months. Good way to save money. You can do it with Pre-grinded coffee and French Press too.
Bring lunch/snack to work.
Rent increased already!?
no, but my last house was half the price of the one i'm in now. i'm still recovering from the increase of bond etc.
The money tin/piggy bank thing wouldn't work for me as I would just be taking more money out of the bank and breaking more notes because I wouldn't have the coins on me. I suppose it would work if you had a decent income, but as a student practically living off Centrelink you need every cent.
I could probably save money buy making my lunches etc, but that is my one weakness I guess. I never really buy anything except food, drink, sometimes booze. A couple weeks ago I went shopping for the first time in ages and bought two tops for $2. The thing I bought before that was probably text books for uni.
Not sure yet. Nothing specific but the plan is either travelling or business venture. I guess we will see what happens.
Making lunch is the best and easiest way once you are in the rhythm of it. Its so easy to spend over $10 on lunch. Thats $50+ a week that can be cut down to around $10.
Winter time soups are good. Make a massive one sunday night, freeze him up and then either take it in a thermos or if you can microwave it.
Summer time make salad sandwiches. Plain simple and easy.
With the money tin I would end up saving heaps because if I had anything less than a $10 note it would go straight in the piggy. All that I missed out on was things like buying a poweraid if I was thirsty and drink water instead. I would get $20 out the atm buy what ever I needed then put the rest in the pig. Simple.
HOARD YOUR MONEY. easy
This thread totally got hijacked. It's gone way too serious for my liking. Some new money saving tips I have are;
We've been using the cat litter tray to save on toilet roll and save water.
Empty cardboard box with a window for diy puppet shows instead of TV.
Cut the floor out of the car so we can use it Flintstones style.
Can anyone recommend a good financial advisor in Melbourne?
