So, I was trounced by astrousersasmind on Saturday night by over a hundred points.

I could complain about the bad letters, but that would be churlish. A new scrabble champ in the wings. The most polite chat I've ever met too.

my thoughts have also been turning to this lately and i it's about time we started the 2010 comp.

i need to check if nony is still keen to run the sydders comp this year. i know the attempts to wrap up the last sydney comp almost divested him of the will to live.

Hmmm. What about Hillsong? Is he still in Brisbane? Maybe he should be super champion and you have to win the comp to face him in the championship of the universe.

I'm still in Queensland, yes, so I am out of contention. I only win every second year thus far, and this isn't my winning year.

If nony is not interested I would adjudicate begrudgingly, but I'm a poor organiser and I'd probably spend the money on magic gum.

I would enter the melbourne comp this year but my words would mostly consist of ''Tit'' ''tits'' ''boob'' and any other single syllable words...unless ''Titmouse'' was eligible...

can someone provide a recap of the rules and regs and whatnot of the game for those considering joining? do you need to have a scrabble board to bring along, or are they provided? i think a warm up game might be necessary on monday night - block?

gusseting: usually, one of the players has to bring a scrabble board and a dictionary, or at least organise one (often more than one game is played at once, so you may be able to borrow the board/dictionary of another). the rules are the official scrabble rules. tile bonuses can only be used once. if you challenge a word, if you're right they lose their turn and take their tiles back, if you're wrong, the word stays and you lose your turn. etc.

I got into a pretty serious argument with someone last Saturday night who was trying to justify using an online scrabble cheater website. It almost came to blows.

Now I suspect a good friend of mine is using one in online games. I confronted him in the Words With Friends chat window but I'm yet to play a move in reply to his last one so he may read it here first. If you are cheating, friend, come clean now and our friendship can be saved!

Cheating in online scrabble is simply NOT ON and I won't tolerate it.

i'm moving to brisbane in a couple of weeks, so i'm not going to be available to run the melbs comp any more.

also, i spoke to nony recently and he is over running the sydney comp.

so if two enterprising chats want to to take the comp over, well you are all due for the 2010 championship season to commence.
