My friend keeps yelling about Nite Jewel.
I should probably check them out.

switchbladesisters  said about 2 years ago:

new track on a forthcoming Alberts Basement tape. Serious.

Rally  said about 2 years ago:

Anyone know of any touring plans to melbourne?

jeebee  said about 2 years ago:

I love them!

chelloveck  said about 2 years ago:

Haven't been able to stop listening to Nite Jewel recently. So good.

jeebee  said about 2 years ago:

they have a gazillion shows coming up, but none in oceania, sadly...

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

song on the Milky Disco 2 compilation is sweet! definitely gonna check out more.

blinks

how did aB make this happen?

eucrid_eucrow  said about 2 years ago:

It's lovely stuff, IDIB is pretty much a flawless label. Looking forward to that Albert's Basement comp!

pking  said about 2 years ago:

new single out this week on idib (here).

thankfully she's cleaned up her production a little. the overtly lo-fi sound was a wee bit frustrating.

untold/animals  said about 2 years ago:

You're just saying that because you love deep house!

pking  said about 2 years ago:

ah yes, the production values of deephouse warrants a good chin stroke.

pking  said about 2 years ago:

i suppose the low-fi hiss that nite jewel has in her tracks is the tape equivalent to the canned vinyl crackle that jonny jewel adds to all his tracks.

jeebee  said about 2 years ago:

funny, I really like the hissy sounds of her home recorded stuff on MP3, but I got 'What Did He Say' 12 inch on IDIB and admittedly the hiss sound is much more enhanced on vinyl...

anok  said about 2 years ago:

'want you back' is gorgeous. like she's channeling arthur russell in parts.

pking  said about 2 years ago:

an arthur russell + chris and cosy collaboration.

pking  said about 2 years ago:

hey anok where did you pick up the 12'' from? i used buy to idib stuff from hearnow records in the city (i'm assuming you're in Melbourne) but they've shut down. i’m not sure now what non-internet record stores stock this label.

anok  said about 2 years ago:

slsk, but I'll buy it from the Internet later. no idea where to shop post-hn

jeebee  said about 2 years ago:

i'm fairly sure there isn't anywhere now...

puretokyo  said about 2 years ago:

in the beginning, there were two... glass candy and chromatics

soon, farah joined them. then, desire and nite jewel.

HOW MANY MORE??

shaun  said about 2 years ago:

Is Glass Candy and Chromatics similar to Nite Jewel?

Everyone go listen to Ariel Pink's Creepshow right now. (It's on Worn Copy)

eucrid_eucrow  said about 2 years ago:

I think Nite Jewel is closer to stuff like U.S. Girls and such than GC or Chromatics but she definitely still suits being on Italians Do It Better. Tiedye are another recent enough addition to the IDIB roster, doing a really cool cover of Metallica's Nothing Else Matters.

what are you getting at?

anok  said about 2 years ago:

anyway, the best thing on IDIB is invisible conga people!

shunt  said about 2 years ago:

mezabel stocks some of their stuff.. they're local but mailorder only

they still have that tiedye remix of rubies which is a stunner

i THINK round n round records in brunswick had some idib last time i went there but not sure. they have a small section of off kilter disco type stuff worth a look at anyway... picked up some arthur russell and betty botox edits

but yeah. hear now was the best :(

and the italians sleeves look so good on a shelf

pking  said about 2 years ago:

did you catch the invisible conga people remix of woolf vs projections on permanent vacation records last year? gold!

thanks shunt, looks like its mailorder/internet then.

agreed, its disappointing that the new 12's have dropped the standardised sleeve

Friends Forever  said about 2 years ago:

Where's round and round records in brunswick?

Rally  said about 2 years ago:

On Sydney road.. before A1 but after savers.

shunt  said about 2 years ago:

yeah, i reckon they'll bring em back though, seems to go back and forth

jeebee  said about 2 years ago:

new video for want you back... there's a baby fox, aw!

jeebee  said about 2 years ago:

oh. this is probably one of the funniest fan clips I have ever seen. so bad! why?

untold/animals  said about 2 years ago:

I really like these humans.

Not as dreamy for sure. Still ok. Maybe it will a be a slow burner.

iguessso  said about 2 months ago:

Actually, no. Chorus just kicked in. Definitely not a big fan of this newer stuff.
