what kind of job is it?
simply contact the highest flyer of your acquaintances and ask them for a personal reference. big heads love being asked to endorse anything, besides, the comparison ratio placed upon references in general in CVs in particular between job seeker and potential employer would probably be something like 95% to 3% respectively.
Yeah. I quit my job yesterday so I should probably get a job club going...
there's a good reference, juicenewton: BADALEX - CEO and founder of internet forum 'job club' thread. got a certain ring to it.
Damn right. More of a ring to it than ''Lots of brains, talent and innovation but no funding leaves you stuck working in shit fucked jobs that you then quit after a very short period of time.'' anyways..
as of monday, i am an official member of the job club!
Pffft. I was a member of the job club before it was cool.
job club 4 eva!
getting pretty bored with my job over here. thinking about getting another one.
If anyone wants to consider the clubs and activities role at Swinburne Prahran message me, I'm going through resumes at the moment and there's some ...interesting ones.
It amazes me how many people apply for jobs and fail to include the key selection criteria.
I don't recommend putting smiley faces on your CV or your photo either
getting bored with being a teacher... teaching the kids is great, dealing with the other side of it makes me want to murder.... a bit depressed, because i can't think of what else i'd like to do except tour the world playing rock music.... hmm...
do you wanna be a bubbleologist, hyperfuzz?
contact these guys
you teach kids from primary to high school about learning through play, using soap bubbles. it's a WA company, but they wanted to expand to the east coast earlier this year. if you've been to clown school, it'll hold you in good stead.
Cool, hyperfuzz. time to take a day off so i can slip a CRT day in.... NUTHING yet this term, and holidays are coming.... yikes. I thought teaching was recession/pov-proof

ARGH!! Just got a response to a follow up, being told that I'm perfect for the job, but an internal applicant also has a strong application . . . and that if I dont get the job, its more a case of timing and circumstance, than a reflection of my skills.
GARRR!!!
Good to know I'm good enough, but still . . .

I reckon you should be able to interview potential co-workers before accepting a job. Being forced to associate with unbearable fuckstains for 40 hours a week is amongst the most unpleasant aspects of working life.
Music promoter, obviously.
Ha!
You know, after thinking about it, I actually like people telling me how awesome I am. I only talk myself up when I'm feeling a little dry.
I dabble in the Music Industry Coz, I love it but it might make me die a little inside if I was to do it for a living full time (I'm too sensitive....)
The thing I really dream about is starting an artist space/retreat/commune type thing in the country where its self sustaining, artists have to submit a proposal for the project they wish to undertake there as well as a time frame - they would be funnelled in from universities, community groups and select arts organisations. Funding would come from government and unversities (Because I would have developed a partnership with them) and the artists who are already well off who don't want to work at said retreat (Doing their chores like feeding chickens or washing and such) would pay their way.
Once their projects are completed I could then refer them to galleries and managers and stuff in the 'big smoke' and give them a shot a the 'big time'
The retreat would include a variety of artists, not visual, but music and everything else in between.
Its not really thought out or researched, but I like the idea of pickling my own fruit on a farm living with other artists, and them all being creative around me and producing things and not falling into the trap that people do when living/working in the inner city......
Don't laugh by the way, its just my little day dream for the office. I have no idea how realistic it is in real life....
My not really thought through dream would be to work with horses.
Shudder......
I need to find a job I don't hate before my Job Provider finds me one I do hate.
Chances of job network actually finding a job for someone=0. Once they offered me a job working for them as a case manager. I'm pretty sure it was some kind of bizarre joke.(I dont have any kind of office-y skills or experience) Another time they thought i might like to be a real estate agent. It was then i realised how much they hated me. I said i'd rather be a male prostitute, or poke my eyes out with a stick.
The CES used to find jobs for me that i could actually do.
Job Network members are useless. Unless you're disabled or have some kind of substance dependence etc, they won't get funding to help you. Stream 1 madness. The idea is you're job ready so you don't need any help... Then why must I go to the appointments?
can i just say, artshub, com.au always goes ballistic on friday afternoons
Thanks Punch, but i don't do credit cards:(
seriously I bet you're just lazy. what's wrong with being a case manager? they probably suggested real estate agent as a little joke, ie, this guy is full of shit
Blow some more bubbles Charles. I do serious labouring, a/v tech work, gardening ,+volunteer work for community radio. So i guess that would make you the one who is full of shit.
Anybody else looking for work finding that every second job is either part time, casual or contract? FFS this shit is driving me absolutely mental.
Can anyone hook a brother up for some newvbie Batista jobs?
anyone into digital media want a job in Sydney? PM for deets
Hello! I am looking for temp / contract work. Preferably admin, will also do merch, door bitching, bar work, probably numerous other things. Please let me know of any leads! x
hi again. same as above, except i now can't walk around. merch should still be okay, but jobs that involve sitting down are most preferable. x
Hey all, anybody had any experience working at Lonely Planet? I've heard they are a bunch of tight arses. Any idea what they pay a book editor? Should I or shouldn't I?
Lonely Planet are GREAT to work for. Three of my best friends work / have worked there and they all have nothing but great things to say.
Word of warning though: their pay is shit. Better off working for Pearson if you want to a book editing job.
In other news, I'm still looking for a PHP developer if anyone knows one :(
