Sailor's Thai !! (The Rocks, Sydney)
Just voted best That restaurant in Australia in the Restaurant and Catering Awards (associated with the SMH Good Food Guide/Week).
how much $ is the pad thai?
thats a load of crap
glebe $5 thai all the way
poor big boy!
but don't worry, i recognise your genius.
anyone know if bangkok thai on nicholson st is any good? or classic thai? i dont have the classic thai menu though... HELP!
best thai I've had in australia (and I've had lots) is Chiang Mai at Nobby's on the gold coast.
that's no help to you, I know, AlterEgo, but I just needed to post that. Carry on.....
yeah thats okay, i'm trying it out anyhow, will report back on their green curry, spring rolls and gang pannang.
aside from that best thai i've ever had was at sum-o on parramatta rd in leichardt. fucking AMAZING thai food. was cheap as chips when i used to go there too.
And the shortlisted Victorian Nominees are...
Warwick Thai in Sydney Road, Brunswick
Ghin Khao, Swanston Street, Melbourne City
Ora Thai, Port Melbourne
My house on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Suay muk muk.
i've been to both of those alterego. one was pretty damn yum. one made my bottom runny. i can't remember which one's which though. so uhh...
good luuuuuuu-uuck
haha, shunt, she picked the runny one.
i told her that when i found out
so far we both have intact stools
haha, well it's changed its name to absolute thai, and it was pretty damn good! hopefully it was runs-free. i wont be posting that kind of info though....
i'd have to try their pad thai before i gave them a proper rating though, since thats what i always rate thai places on.
so, how're you guys holding up? it didn't hit me n bracksy til the next day
mmmm red curry
did a nice solid poo this morning, shunty
this restaurant gets two thumbs up
I've read upteen reviews on eatability etc saying that Sailors Thai is really good, but no better than the top two on King St. Considering that it is much more expensive, I've chosen to avoid it so far.
yeah it was pretty good. the other one is dericious too, just a bit more expensive and some of the smallest servings i've ever seen from thai takeaway. they fill like half the container with salad
all fine here, except for my flu which wont go away. grrrrr.
Anyone know a decent Thai place around Northcote? I'm way to hungover for cooking and want some coconut rice!
sorry can't help fasty but...
anyone in Sydney who pays more than $10 for a lunchtime thai meal and insists on it for the 'quality' is a stupid resource wasting yuppie whose ilk must be extirpated!
Sorry fasty - I know a great Thai restaurant in hawthorn east but not Northcote.
COCOFUCKINGNUT!!!
Yah, Hawthorn is a touch to far for a lazy Sunday..cheers anyway.
Communist.
Doy Tao is great for dinner, never been there for lunch.
Oh well, this was fruitless. Fuck it, Indian will do.
You gave up on coconut rice!!??
Well I'm still waiting for my dining partner to call me and hurry the fuck up as I'm starving. They are even more useless and indecisive than me so I can see us falling either into a curry house or a bar. I really do want coconut rice though, stupidly enjoyable that stuff.
I could go a rogan josh right now
looks like I'll be sticking with the vegemite toast though
Coconut rice is the best stuff ever. Once you enjoy its goodness you can never go back to plain rice.
I'm thinking a mighty Alu Mutter will see me well.
Plain rice has its place and purpose, for which I quite enjoy. Coconut rice though is the superfeed of the enlightened, than can turn otherwise frail individuals into ferocious animals of the night.
why dont you try something that no one has tried before canoe? do you need a recommendation?
Cause I'm not in the fucking mood for it, quite simple really. Would like some enjoyable dinner, am hungover and can't be arsed taking a blundering run at somewhere random as this usually fails me and I end up pissed the fuck off, post meal hungry and stomping about.
i am much the same... was just wondering if you felt like being a guinea pig for the rest of us for the night.
Is Narai That still about on St Geroge's Rd? They used to be pretty good.
Yep, it's still there, I don't mind the place it's just expensive. Top quality coconut action though.
...in my building
man, that's what you want - every building should have in-house thai!
haha awesome questionmark!
i had better thai than big boy the other week. this is difficult for me to admit but the standard has been slipping of late anyway, and hooray for new winner being in the same state as me and stuff.
good post.
Best is by far thai pothong on king street...fucken expensive but the food is amazing as is the service.
Inthanon Thai - 182 High Street, Northcote is awesome - perhaps this would have been more useful 3 months ago, but there you go
Big Pot Thai In Alexandria (i think that's the location)
anyways - shits over every single thai i have had in aus
chat thai - it's where the local thai population go to eat...
made it to spice i am the other week, was pretty amazing.
I might hit aoy up for a phad phak before the council moves in on him.
How's the Raad Naa?
thanks for the reminder oort, I'll ring aoy now to make sure he has all the ingredients.
