per song or ''session''?

batman4eva  said about 3 years ago:

Yeah the whole time. Anyway you're in a real band. I bet you don't have times to take out records and rip off parts from them.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 3 years ago:

Usually we run through about half the songs in the set once, maybe twice. That's about 20 minutes. Then we talk shit for 3 hours and get drunk.

FrankieTeardrop  said about 3 years ago:

That's pretty much the plan tonight too.

I bet there is no band on earth who doesn't have a stupid in-joke!

rigid  said about 3 years ago:

30 - 40 minutes for the first song, 10-15 minutes per song thereafter. pizza break. two minute songs.

dnzr  said about 3 years ago:

jamming is for hippies, shitty funk bands and free jazz.

i hate that word so much.

charlesincharge  said about 3 years ago:

i love jamming so much. you wouldn't hate it dnzr if you and the people jamming were good at it.

dirtylover  said about 3 years ago:

depends on where we are, plus we call it band praccy

if we're paying for it, it's in 3 hour blocks, but, that does not include singers turning up an hour late or pulling out toolboxes to fix some dodgy amp/guitar/drum/pedal etc

if it's here in my house, we can go for 5 hours or more, including beer and smoke breaks of course!

dnzr  said about 3 years ago:

no, i'd just rather work out a song and teach the others.

Flesh out your own parts each time you run through it rather than playing the game of 'anyone have any riffs?'

rigid  said about 3 years ago:

there are strict rules that must be adhered to, after all.

No time-wasters or breadheads.

nishiki  said about 3 years ago:

jamming is best done at the end of summer, when the berries are about to go out of season. then you've got lots for winter. hooray.

janedust  said about 3 years ago:

twice through each one every day at least 5 days before the gig...

luke  said about 3 years ago:

Thurston Moore doesn't like jam bands.

kabukiboy  said about 3 years ago:

if you're gallucci it's 10 hours a day, 7 days a week ;-)

LaxCharisma  said about 3 years ago:

Till the case is drunk, till the bowl is empty...

Although of late for 45mins or 1hour if we are headlining.

hillsonghoods  said about 3 years ago:

Well, when we're in the middle of the makings of the 'master blaster'*, we are often found jamming until the break of dawn. It could be said that we are jamming, jamming, jamming.

Jam on.

*i.e., a song.

knerf  said about 3 years ago:

We rehearse at leats twice a week. One arvo/evening on a weekend day, usually 6-8hrs with breaks for beers and food. Then one night a week, usually for 4 hours. Extra rehearsals if there's gigs coming up.

sum1  said about 3 years ago:

Back in the day, it was for the duration of the first slab. Then we'd go buy a second and set to work finishing that off.

MattuS  said about 3 years ago:

aim for 2-3hours, more if working on new songs, but usually an hour or so and a bunch of fcking around.

kickcat  said about 3 years ago:

as long as it takes generally about three hours at band practise.. longer if we can.

They sound like awesome reasons for jamming!!

until the bread is covered.

There's no way you can jam on the entire Bread back catalogue in the six hours they give you at the rehearsal studio. Pick a couple and stretch 'em out.
