So, she's touring? Well she's got a show in Sydney this March anyway.

Could folks please post deatils for us non-facebook types who insist on living in 2005.

''This remarkable album is actually what I personally always wanted 4AD records to sound like, only they never quite delivered the hazy pleasures their beautiful sleeve art promised'' - Pitchfork

''The kind of beauty that makes sailors run aground'' - Mojo

In what should turn out to be one of the best live music nights of 2009, Preservation will present a show from US artist Grouper in Sydney on March 6.

The project for Portland, Oregon's Liz Harris, Grouper has steadily built incredible international acclaim for her mesmerising music, culminating in reaching both Pitchfork and The Wire's Top 50 albums for 2008 with her most recent full-length, ''Dragging A Dead Deer Up A Hill''.

Often compared to classic 4AD dream-pop acts - especially the Cocteau Twins - the trance-like melodies and narcotic voice in a Grouper song swirl both prettily and mysteriously in their pastoral, psychedelic way. Otherworldly and blissful, this one-off, intimate show will be special.

Making that more so will be a rare performance from Sydney's sublime electronic composer Pimmon, set to release his new, long-awaited album Smudge Another Yesterday in April, with Seaworthy also adding their own delicate beauty to the evening.

The night takes place Friday March 6 at Serial Space, 33 Wellington Street, Chippendale from 8pm. Entry is 12 dollars.

oh fuck, i just got a ticket to meredith.
Does anyone have melbourne show details? I have to get my flights before they become expensive, but i'd rather see grouper than go to golden plains i think.

trafficsounds  said about 3 years ago:

really looking forward to this show!

esquared  said about 3 years ago:

Im thinking about flying into melbourne at 6am on the day of golden plains. SO EXCITED FOR GROUPER.

anok  said about 3 years ago:

melbsies please.

MichaelDudikoff  said about 3 years ago:

Er, Golden Plains ?

Whoever she is, whatever I just listened to Myspace sounded AMAZING.

kazpatafta  said about 3 years ago:

Aw wonderful

greenriver  said about 3 years ago:

oh hells yeah, hope the melbourne date is confirmed real soon.

default.jamerson  said about 3 years ago:

If it's the 7th in Melbourne, that clashes with Gary 'Is He Human?' Numan. Maybe they could settle this problem for me and play together. Maybe I could shoot laser beams from eyes whilst breaking the sound barrier with the sheer power of my mind... crap.

kuroneko  said about 3 years ago:

According to Myspazz:

TENTATIVE DATES:
March 6th Syd
March 7th Melb
March 8th Brisb

i read somewhere that she likes playing with audience chatter; gives her something to play off, etc.

sam  said about 1 year ago:

She seemed pretty pissed off in Newcastle. When people called out for more she said ''you can't even hear me''.

hellosQuare  said about 1 year ago:

theklausfactory - you should have come to the canberra show, small intimate space but absolutely respect for her during the set. i imagine melbourne to be the same and brisbane for sure since open frame works a good deep listening vibe each time.

pc  said about 1 year ago:

Here is a photo from the Canberra show

basil seal  said about 1 year ago:

wow. that's a wonderful photo pc.

theklausfactory  said about 1 year ago:

hey hellosQaure,

i will most def be attending the Canberra show if/when she comes back to tour! I was seriously entertaining the idea but could not get away long enough due to work etc. better planning will involved next time as i can just imagine based on what i've heard on the albums + some of the reviews above + word from friends, that she would be absolutely mesmerizing in the right environment.

for the life of me i don't know why half of the squawking hipsters even went to the show in Sydney on Saturday night, I mean it literally was a struggle to see her in a room not bigger than the average classroom. mental.

shaun  said about 1 year ago:

It was the same when she played Serial Space in 2009. Hence why I didn't bother attending in 2010. It's really horrible when gentle music like this is ruined by rude people.

runoutgroove  said about 1 year ago:

Sorry to hear about the crowd noise at the sydney show. Regarding crowd noise, I chatted to liz about this and it was interesting that she did say that when playing to big crowds, the noise tends to become a nice droney sound to play off (so you're right boner m). I think it is probably different when there are ''squawking hipsters'' amongst a smaller crowd.

ending  said about 1 year ago:

thanks for coming back, liz xo

blake3030  said about 1 year ago:

I wonder if putting signs up telling people to remain quiet during performances would work?

Maybe if they felt like they were being watched, they'd shut the fuck up.

runoutgroove  said about 1 year ago:

A third pressing of Dragging a Dead Dear up a Hill is out and about but you'd better be quick.

lalorl  said about 1 year ago:

does that have 'heavy water' on it?

runoutgroove  said about 1 year ago:

sure does.

lalorl  said about 1 year ago:

whats the rest of the album sound like?

runoutgroove  said about 10 months ago:

The two new albums were to be released this week ''DREAM LOSS'' and ''ALIEN OBSERVER''. Vinyl sold out already apparently but keep your eye out and don't snooze if you see them available.

esquared  said about 9 months ago:

Just tracked down a copy of Alien Observer (sorry, last one). $28.45 shipped, sweet!

Dream Loss popping up anywhere?

runoutgroove  said about 9 months ago:

If you are quick, Stashed Goods have copies of the LPs.

tigers  said about 9 months ago:

Sold out. It was sold out when i looked there the other day too.

moth  said about 9 months ago:

Damnnn. Have to cross fingers and hope for a repress I guess. Also, wish I'd had $$/sense to pick up DADD on LP up at her gig last year, 3rd pressing of that seems to be sold out now too. Just giving A I A its first few listens, enjoying it a lot.

tigers  said about 5 months ago:

Was able to find copies of Alien Observer and Dream Loss in a record store in Portland. Also, going to see her play tonight!
Today is a good day.
