They said haven't taught the drummer anything other than Die Tonight when I asked them to play one of their cover songs.

hwct  said about 2 years ago:

they played teh canckill theme song the other night. stephane told me he isn't really a drummer, but a black metal guitarist.

hwct  said about 2 years ago:

that should have read 'candykill' theme song.

In late February 2010 female fronted, French doom quartet Monarch will be once again gracing our shores, they'll be touring nationally with Olympian atmospheric black metal trio Wolves in the Throne Room (Southern Lord records).

MONARCH 'Sabbat Noir' LP Release Show in Melbourne:

hwct  said about 1 year ago:

As a pre-tour warm up event, MONARCH are doing a special headline show on Wednesday 17th of February at the Ding Dong Lounge in Melbourne to launch their new LP ''Sabat Noir''!
Supports on the night are Hotel Wrecking City Traders, Agonhymn & Encircling Sea.
Entry: $15 / Doors: 8pm

Recorded in late December in Bayonne, France, and featuring Robert MacManus (ex-Grey Daturas) on drums, Sabat Noir is one 30 minute long track thats been split into two parts and spread across both sides of the Sabat Noir LP.
This is some of the darkest funeral doom that Monarch's ever committed to wax, it's way heavier, more textural, melodic and sonically dense.

Released on Heathen Skulls, Sabat Noir has been pressed onto 170 gram wax, is limited to 400 hand numbered LP's and will have slightly different artwork to that of the European pressing, due out in early April for their European Tour.

MONARCH new LP now released - SABBAT NOIR!

For all of you that got to see MONARCH's surreal low end funeral doom attack in support of Wolves in the Throne Room, and liked what you heard, you need to buy a copy of their new LP SABBAT NOIR. The piece of music they played live on this tour was this LP in it's entirety, start to finish. SABBAT NOIR was supposed to be released to coincide with the tour but got delayed six weeks due to the lame efforts of Zenith Records in Melbourne, don't get me started.
To view the cover and releases info visit: www.heathenskulls.com
To order copies email: mailorderstuff@gmail.com
SABBAT NOIR is $20 + $10 postage anywhere in Australia
It's strictly limited to 400 copies, has silver layered reflective covers and pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Basically it looks and sounds amazing and it's an essential item in the collection of every black metal / doom / drone / noise fan.

firewitch  said about 1 year ago:

Ah yes.
Zenith!

Heathen Skulls  said about 1 year ago:

Monarch latest album 'Sabbat Noir' is now finally being issued on CD, released on Monday 12th of September, 'Sabbat Noir' is be packaged in a deluxe 6 panel gate fold Digi Pak with the same silver reflective artwork as the LP, but with extra photo's and liner notes. It'll also be super limited, 500 CD's, thats it.

Heathen Skulls  said about 1 year ago:

MONARCH are also returning to Australia in February 2011, stay tuned for details, or visit: www.heathenskulls.com
