real shame. terrible loss.

temporarybenbutler  said about 5 years ago:

You're kidding.

Fuck.

Barman  said about 5 years ago:

It's fucked. The guy had a one-year-old son. The new album is the best solo thing he's ever done, really focussed and sharp.

He was really struggling with cancer the last fe weeks. The chemo hadn't worked and he was just on the way out.

damselfly  said about 5 years ago:

RIP ian. fond memories of seeing Sardine V with ian on vocals and barton price on drums.

Elton  said about 5 years ago:

ghostofbarry  said about 5 years ago:

RIP Ian. He got up and played a couple of songs with one of my bands last year. He was out with Spencer celebrating the birth of his son. This is really sad news.

Vale Ian. Thanks for years of good rock'n'roll.

Sad. He was a bit unwell tho wasn't he?
Tupelo - Ian was in the original Rose Tattoo lineup - (may have co-wrote Bad Boy For Love...not sure).
Then was in X (legendary Melb band)
Ian Rilen and the Love Addicts was his more recent band project. Been around for years.

AlexGionfriddo  said about 5 years ago:

RIP Ian

Well done Ian Rilen LOL

Barman  said about 5 years ago:

For those of us in Sydney who were inspired by Ian, his music and the joy he brought to our lives, there are some drinks this Friday night ( November 10) at the Bridge Hotel, Rozelle in Sydney.

It's a Dave Tice & Mark Evans gig, who are looking forward to some special guests being involved. It's kicking off from 6pm til late ( it's an early start, drop in early, stay late whatever) involved.

There is no door charge but all donations, large and small, will be gratefully accepted on the night.

It's a chance for Sydneysiders to get together, pay respect and remember Ian, and in the appropriate Rilen fashion give it a real good nudge.

Great article by Dave Nicols in Perfect Sound Forever

Barman  said about 4 years ago:

It would have been Ian's birthday on Saturday.

thenewmeatloaf  said about 4 years ago:

yep, they whacked Aspirations on the PA after the gig on Sat night - think you'd already left by then, Barman. His 60th, wasn't it?

Barman  said about 4 years ago:

Nah, I was in the front bar. Ian was born in 1947.

T J Honeysuckle  said about 4 years ago:

bump for sad anniversary

Barman  said about 4 years ago:

Sad day and I believe his ashes are being scattered down on the Mornington Penninsular today.

Love Addicts studio album is out next year.
