fuck. another legend bites the dust. Vale Ian.
Vale.
Seriously, that's a big shock. RIP Ian.
RIP Ian.
One of the good ones. He'll be remembered.
He didn't wanna go out....
real shame. terrible loss.
You're kidding.
Fuck.
It's fucked. The guy had a one-year-old son. The new album is the best solo thing he's ever done, really focussed and sharp.
He was really struggling with cancer the last fe weeks. The chemo hadn't worked and he was just on the way out.
RIP ian. fond memories of seeing Sardine V with ian on vocals and barton price on drums.
sad news
RIP Ian. He got up and played a couple of songs with one of my bands last year. He was out with Spencer celebrating the birth of his son. This is really sad news.
How old was he?
Fuck. That is really sad news.
RIP Ian.
golly.
i could google it and save face
but fuck, i gotta ask.... who's Ian Rilen?
teach us ignorant ones.
RIP Ian
damn.
Vale Ian. Thanks for years of good rock'n'roll.
Sad. He was a bit unwell tho wasn't he?
Tupelo - Ian was in the original Rose Tattoo lineup - (may have co-wrote Bad Boy For Love...not sure).
Then was in X (legendary Melb band)
Ian Rilen and the Love Addicts was his more recent band project. Been around for years.
RIP Ian

Man too much, he could wake the dead, with his big heart..
that's a nice tribute, barman
Tribute to Ian in the PUB strip today also.
Can you post it or is it online?
Just the last panel:

Some great photos of the last Love Addict's gigs here
Bulletin just posted on MySpazz from Ian Rilen & The Love Addicts:
Ian's funeral will be at 11am on Saturday, November 2 at the Melbourne High Memorial Hall in Alexandra Avenue, South Yarra, before a private ceremony for family. Ian's wake will be held at St Kilda RSL in Lock Street, St Kilda West.
there's already a thread, peli, and it's november the 4
Ah
Taken at the Robbie Rocket Benefit:

And WEST St Kilda RSL. My mistake.
Was he a MHS boy?
Wow.
no he wasn't
debon-fucking-air
Well done Ian Rilen LOL
For those of us in Sydney who were inspired by Ian, his music and the joy he brought to our lives, there are some drinks this Friday night ( November 10) at the Bridge Hotel, Rozelle in Sydney.
It's a Dave Tice & Mark Evans gig, who are looking forward to some special guests being involved. It's kicking off from 6pm til late ( it's an early start, drop in early, stay late whatever) involved.
There is no door charge but all donations, large and small, will be gratefully accepted on the night.
It's a chance for Sydneysiders to get together, pay respect and remember Ian, and in the appropriate Rilen fashion give it a real good nudge.
Great article by Dave Nicols in Perfect Sound Forever
It would have been Ian's birthday on Saturday.
yep, they whacked Aspirations on the PA after the gig on Sat night - think you'd already left by then, Barman. His 60th, wasn't it?
Nah, I was in the front bar. Ian was born in 1947.
bump for sad anniversary

Sad day and I believe his ashes are being scattered down on the Mornington Penninsular today.
Love Addicts studio album is out next year.
