WHAT? Were they just sound checking? They better do another good show the cunts.

HEB  said about 3 years ago:

Looks like the main show is Saturday 10 January at 13.45 at Ampitheatre

Gorn  said about 3 years ago:

Yeah they better not get too fucked up on the friday night so they can play in the morning, though this might just make them play better

monkeyman  said about 3 years ago:

I think at ATP it's not unusual for some bands to play more than one set, or do a 'surprise' set on one of the other days?

lozz  said about 3 years ago:

Yeah, the Stabs played another show Thursday night in Mt Buller. They're playing again for everyone on Saturday. Relax, yo!

switchbladesisters  said about 3 years ago:

it's not unusual to be loved, by anyone.

this is Sydney related (sorry) but one of the things I'm most looking forward to is getting to the Island at 10:30 and cracking my first beer at 11:30 for the Stabs' opening set.

SO FUCKING COLD

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

I got some text messages from andyr and anon recently, something along the lines of:

andyr: I'm standing right next to Michael Gira

anon: I'm standing right next to Michael Gira

I sobbed, but y'know, sideshow and sydney ATP next week should make me feel a bit better.

jevus  said about 3 years ago:

Grinderman were fucking amazing! Great set. Bill callahan was soulful, dirty three took the mood to a whole new level. I was worried for the saints headlining the first day following some very credible acts. But they held their own nicely. More to come. This iPhone posting is laborous and I have been neglecting my beer.

I saw them in SF and Portland in September.

It was so rad.

GrantleyBuffalo  said about 1 month ago:

I saw them supporting Jebediah with the Get Up Kids at RMIT's Storey Hall in the 90's. It was ace.

By the time Jebediah were on, I was so drunk I picked a fight with the entire Living End, Stevo from Area 7 and a groupie. That was ace, too.

untold/animals  said about 1 month ago:

and a groupie

MelonHCST  said about 1 month ago:

Archers did that tour as well? Damn

mrmagoo  said about 1 month ago:

Archers supported Magic Dirt in the 90's

LeRayonVert  said about 1 month ago:

I saw them three nights in a row, October 1st,2nd,3rd 1996. Amazing.

Back on topic - it's nice to have this thread bumped for a good reason. Still not getting hopes up too much though.

mrmagoo  said about 1 month ago:

roraiman  said about 1 month ago:

it's on now

anonymous  said about 1 month ago:

so we're all just waiting for the last 10 minutes I assume.

Evilio  said about 1 month ago:

...I'm just waiting for some to post the info here.

roraiman  said about 1 month ago:

They just mentioned the 'upcoming' Jeff Mangum ATP so I suppose this is at least a few weeks old. Makes any big announcement seem less likely.

nexus  said about 1 month ago:

$10 says they'll be asked and they'll say something along the lines of ''we want to very much but we're still looking at options as we want to do it right if we bring it back again'' :(

anonymous  said about 1 month ago:

close, they wanna do it again and loved mt buller, but they need more interest from people to go, so err, email them and let em know.

nexus  said about 1 month ago:

that's bullshit though. suck my dick. seriously. it's been three years since mt buller and in that time they've made bullshit statements going ''yeah we plan on coming back'' NOW when pressed ''email us and tell us you're coming''. of course the first year wasn't going to be a huge sellout, i get they lost money, then why not spend extra timing planning a new one for 2012? it means we won't se ATP at least til 2014 given it takes a year of planning (as they said).

anonymous  said about 1 month ago:

yeah, but if they think they're gonna lose more money if they do it again, they'll be hesitant.

sure everyone said it was great, and the legend has passed on through time, but if people don't pony up the cash when it matters, all the talk in the world is worth naught. Especially when festivals are falling over left and right as it is (and the market in australia is as oversaturated as it is)

nexus  said about 1 month ago:

The longer they wait, the more they'll lose money because the people like us who went will not bother/find another commitment. Also, it takes time to build these things, no business makes a profit in the first year. If they at least said it was every second year in oz then they'd have two years lead for punters to get into it, scrap the mirror shows in brisbane and sydney so that everyone had to go to Mt Buller (or some bands did single side shows). It's way more expensive for us to fly to the UK/NY ones.

It was the first weekend of Jan IIRC..that's still three months before golden plains. The type of people who went to ATP would be meredith/GP types.

Looks like MoFo in Hobart next year wil be my summer music festival

mrmagoo  said about 1 month ago:

said it heaps, but they should've just gone for the one event that year. make everyone make the effort to get to Buller or wherever, build it up that way. it was too diluted the way it was. I went to the Brisbane event, it was so sparsely attended

mrmagoo  said about 1 month ago:

also, that year BDO had Neil Young
