OH YEAH, YOU CAN LISTEN TO SHITTY THIRD RATE (EVEN BY THEIR MEASLY STANDARDS) SLIPKNOT ALBUMS, AND NAMEDROP A WHOLE BUNCH OF DERIVATIVE BUZZFUCK METAL IN THE BLACK METAL THREAD, BUT YOU ALL SOUND LIKE CHARALATANS OF THE FIFTH FUCKING ORDER (BEHIND POLITICIANS, ENVIRONMENTALISTS, MUSIC WRITERS AND PROSTITUTES)

YOU'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND METAL. YOU'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND THE CULTURE.

METAL

are you metal?

kaaren  said about 3 years ago:

yes

Peter  said about 3 years ago:

so you're saying that good Metal is famous for the right reasons and bad Metal is famous for the wrong ones?

do you see the problem with that?

It'd be like Montyclift commenting on a Block review...

An ancient Egyptian tomb made of bone and designed to hold the corpse of Dr Seuss. Don't tell me I don't understand metal. Or even METAL.

I know nothing about metal but am interested in exploring speed metal.

Can anyone help by suggesting any speed metal songs that veer towards rockabilly I could try? But not psychobilly. It has to be fast.

I have lots of motorhead, deep purples’ speed king, snakepit by whiplash, and that’s about it. I’ve tried bulldozer and x japan without taking to it. I loathe metallica. A friend is advising on slayer. There are more bands here but I don’t know what is what. I would prefer not to listen to bands that feature men in lycra, nor do I want to get into the culture.

I just want to listen to new stuff I haven’t heard before, any advice appreciated

Megadeth's ''Rust in Peace'' album is a corker if you can get past Dave's voice.
Try some DragonForce, and even Dillinger Escape Plan for some variations on the theme.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 1 year ago:

I almost shat when i saw Warrant in that list, but it's a different band apparently.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

I think Dave's voice is stunning, but I seem to be in the minority.

There's always Anthrax...

RoastOxCrisps  said about 1 year ago:

classic control freak I reckon, just couldn't hand the reins over to someone else even though he knows he's not that good.

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

I remember watching him being interview at 4ZZZ many years ago, the rest of the band just sort of sat there and knew their place. I always felt sorry for Marty.

MissAustralia2003  said about 1 year ago:

thanks!

i'm liking the prisoner song on that megadeth album - will listen more after work. didn't like dragonforce - vocal sounded like a lycra wearer. dillinger escape plan sounds interesting - will listen more later

I know a little bit about black sabbath, hmmm and a tad about 80s hair metal, and something about metallica and hp lovecraft and alchemist and the corner hotel in the early 90s but aside from that yes I'm a fuck that knows very little about metal.

angelicIV  said about 1 year ago:

oh a tuning down to c/// which would be better in b

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

I can't think of anything more interesting or relevant to this thread than telling us that you know HP Lovecraft and went to the Corner Hotel twenty years ago. No, really, it's extremely valuable.

Again, I ask: who are you talking to?

Hellzapoppin  said about 1 year ago:

He spends all day talking to himself on here in an effort to avoid spending time with his kids.. it's the Eltham way of bringing up little bastards who'll follow the same trend.

angelicIV  said about 1 year ago:

hello...???sailor. looks angry those words. maybe put them in chronological order as they came to your mind

like 'trend' would of been first I rekcons..

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

angelic, you're so incoherent I now just assume you're always drunk when you post, so I can never work out what you're talking about. Seriously, I have no idea what anything you've said today means.

angelicIV  said about 1 year ago:

oh well enjoy reading dr zuess books then. when you get to 'big' words let me know.

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

Please. If you had an active vocabulary you'd know that put them in chronological order as they came to your mind is at least fifty percent redundant.

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

oh well enjoy reading dr zuess books then.

You also might want to work on your spelling.

angelicIV  said about 1 year ago:

yeah you might like to work on yr mind. expand it. like you know...instead of learning everything from someone else, go learn something for yrself. goodo! or play golf. or walk heaps, people that walk heaps actually think. golf you get to add the exclamation point at the end of the thought as you hit the little golf ball!

astrousersasmind  said about 1 year ago:

Eldritch, I am an environmentalist yet I used to play in a band with Striborg. Am I metal?

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

Look, you obviously want to have an argument with someone who isn't me, or want me to have traits that you're capable of arguing against rather than the traits I actually possess, so I might just mark you as a dickhead and let you just type whatever you want from now on, okay?

angelicIV  said about 1 year ago:

I don't care. you attacked me, you seem lame. do what you want. I won't care. not my problem if you are inert of the mind.

Just wasting time listening to Mayhem before my afternoon stroll.

MissAustralia2003  said about 1 year ago:

fyi i'm making my way through the listening list - will report on findings/purchases once done.

noneabove  said about 1 year ago:

Have you tried High On Fire, MA? As a long time Motorhead I thought they were worth a giggle. It's not really speed metal, but it's fast, heavy and contains no high pitched vocals.

MissAustralia2003  said about 1 year ago:

sounds nice - will add to list of ones to listen to more properly. thank you!

MissAustralia2003  said about 1 year ago:
