Did anyone ever see faith no more live?

i always wanted to.

Three times.

Once in 93 on the 'Angel Dust' tour at Festy Hall, with Big Jim Martin on guitar.

It was awesome. Someone spewed in the mosh pit creating a huge hole, and Patton was telling everyone to eat it. ''What are you afraid of?''

They also came onstage lit by a disco ball to 'The Final Countdown' dressed in boxer's robes and gloves.

The second and third times was in 95 at Alternative Nation and also Festy hall (can't remember if it was the same tour or a few months apart) for 'King For a Day'. I don't remember much about those shows but A.N. was great and aggressive - Patton kicked Puffy's kit over just to get a reaction from him, and he walked off for a bit. But fuck they played well.

Supported them at the Marquee. And some years later, Roddy ''takes it up the'' Bottum's band Imperial Teen opened for us.

Ronan and the gravy  said about 3 years ago:

ahh the AN show was the only one i was old enough for, i really wanted to go. but wasn't it in perth?

LoadMyRig  said about 3 years ago:

twice.

93 and 95.

imperial teen !! i must listen to that record again.

losgauchos  said about 3 years ago:

Saw them at Alternative Nation - crowd surfed to the front of the stage and then got booted by the cunting bouncers.

black wasp!  said about 3 years ago:

You whip it out but you can't graaaab it!

machina  said about 3 years ago:

alternative nation for me too... they were a'ight but not crazy-go-nuts good

tihstar  said about 3 years ago:

did they do a portishead coverat AN? i seem to remember something like that... but can't remember if it was the whole song or just a little bit.

the power of 666  said about 3 years ago:

At sydney Alt Nation, Mike Patton was forward flipping flat onto his back. That was kind of interesting.

TagoMago  said about 3 years ago:

Reform please. But i'd imagine Patton is too much of a stubborn cunt to ever consider it. I'm sure Billy Gould and Jim Martin could sure use the money..

Underrated bassist, Gould. Very tasty rhythm lines. Never an unnecessary note.

anok  said about 3 years ago:

alternative nation, melbourne.

Kez  said about 3 years ago:

I went to Alternative Nation but don't remember seeing them - maybe I found a spot undercover out of the torrential rain and was wringing out my socks or something. I did see them at Festering Hole though - really cool! I also got my Angeldust CD autographed at Virgin in Bouke St. - they signed the outside plastic case as well as the slick so I got twice as many.

pagey  said about 3 years ago:

i saw them four times, once at the hordern on the angel dust tour with scarymother (does anyone even remember them?), once at alternative nation in sydney, and two other times on the same tour also at the hordern.

gottagetawookie  said about 3 years ago:

scarymother, teehee

celluloid hero  said about 3 years ago:

why would you want to do this

adamdmills  said about 3 years ago:

i didn't. it's always caused me great pain.

the thing i've always been disappointed about when i see patton with other bands is that he's stuck behind a barrage of keyboards and whatnot. i want to see the dude cut sick like back in the old days.

bigdaddykane  said about 3 years ago:

Yeah what Monkeyman said.

Also saw them at Monash Caulfield. That was my favourite. Big Jim did the slide solo on Easy on a cig lighter. And you could tell they REALLY hated each other. Made me uncomfortable. But I was stoned.

Also queued up for ages at Virgin to get my Real Thing Tour T Shirt signed by Patton (he touched my back and EVERYTHING) and the jacket for Angel Dust (Tour Edition). Still got it somewhere.

I also interviewed Roddy Bottom and the new guitarist in about '95 for the Ottico Monash Student union paper. Nice guys.

Anyone remember the Live At The Wireless when during ''War Pigs'' the drummer cracked it and walked out, sick of the rest of the band's teasing and Patton just kept going? Got that tape somewhere too.

timewaster  said about 3 years ago:

I saw them in the middle of the mexican desert at night. They only played 'Epic'.

LAMF  said about 3 years ago:

Saw them back in August 1990, at the Old Greek Theatre in Richmond with Jim Martin on guitar on their first Australian visit.

Support was the Dubrovniks, who ended up sacking Roddy Rayda that night after they had a punch up on stage during the gig.

thomasr  said about 3 years ago:

I think I saw then every time they came out here. I loaded in their gear for their first tourin 1990? Can't recall (tough times).

...it was like he KNEW it was gonna happen... hmmm!!

ah I was wondering who originally did ''This Town Ain't Big Enough For Both Of Us''. I had no idea what song it was, but expected it from reading set lists.

moo-core  said about 2 years ago:

That was fucking awesome!!! This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us ruled! Chatroulette was kickass. Great setlist. So satisfied. And I was pretty close to the front, which made me very happy. Awesome!

Hazard_Man  said about 2 years ago:

You can find 'TTABEFTBOU' on a split single they did with Sparks... I think it's listed as 'FNM vs Sparks'. Was around the time of the 'Balls' album I think. They colab on the recorded version on the single, and Mike ads vox to another song too.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 2 years ago:

The other song is ''something for the girl with everything'' which is also completely awesome.

Eple  said about 2 years ago:

any bootlegs from Sydney Soundwave on the intrawebs?

I would like to swoon again.

BobMob  said about 2 years ago:

Chuck Mosely performing with FNM a couple of days ago in SF. Pretty cool! Never expected to see that.

Woah, Mike's REALLY calming down… at this rate Tre and Jim will be playing Duelling Banjos on stage before you know it!

I interviewed Mike Patton about his new project, Mondo Cane, for The Vine. No Faith No More questions, but you might find it interesting regardless.

Something For the Girl With Everything.

When they played TTABEFTBOU at Melbourne Soundwave I completely dropped my shit.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 1 year ago:

when they played TTABEFTBOU in Sydders hordern i also dropped. later i found out that ''As the Worm Turns'' was on the setlist also, but they didn't play it. This makes me angry on a daily basis.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 1 year ago:

Hey NiteShok, good work on the interview.

fzchk  said about 1 year ago:

When FNM played one of their sideshows in Melbs a friend told me they played Edge of The World...that makes me angry on a daily basis.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 1 year ago:

played it in sydney. i lost my mind almost as much as i did when they played small victory.

fzchk  said about 1 year ago:

LaxCharisma  said about 1 year ago:

I was so pissed when I saw Faith No More back in.....whenever the King For a Day tour was that I decided I wanted to see Mr.Bungle and kept yelling out about it. Then I decidd to take a nap on the floor up the front of the stage. Then I got taken out back by security. The band stepped over me as they left the venue. I tried to hi-5 em' and said some non-intelligle garble that I think was ''Hey dudes....''. Great gig. This is why I don't think getting pissed at gigs is really worth it.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 1 year ago:

i can see how that would be problematic.

fzchk  said about 1 year ago:

I only ever get pissed at small scale gigs - gigs where I can afford to lose my spot to go to the bar/toilet. Mind you at Royal Crown Review at the Forum with my mum turned into a drunken dance fest.

RoastOxCrisps  said about 1 year ago:

o...k

fzchk  said about 1 year ago:

Not with my mum...she was sitting up the back.
