Kanye West - 808's and Heartbreaks

drugshakehands  said about 1 month ago  or at  7:27PM on Thursday, November 20 2008.

i've been listening to all of the leaks. i can see why you would hate it, i'm actually liking it more on first listen than graduation. it's bizarre for a mainstream album, the sounds are pretty sweet.

i wonder if there's going to be an erroneous apostrophe on the album cover as well...

no cunt gives a fuck about grammar no more. it just ain't gangsta.

where are these leaks?

What a strange record.

drugshakehands  said about 1 month ago:

it should be all over the internet now. the retail rip is floating around.

Psyclops  said about 1 month ago:

who swallowed the vocoder?

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

What a strange record.

so does this mean it's really awesome then? I love it when established popstars take a complete left turn. Let it be so!

drugshakehands  said about 1 month ago:

i don't know if it's a complete left turn, he couldn't make party albums forever. this is pretty downbeat, it is a pop record that's raw with lots of strange blips and crazy vocal parts. some songs are out there especially the pinocchio song, make kanye a real boy. it's definitely worth a listen.

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

I'm mildly excited about this.

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

...first track sounds awesome, like it's building up to something that will kick my arse...

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

...has Kanye been listening to Burial?

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

oh god that auto-tune is like some science fiction soul music isn't it? second track wins so far...

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

makes you wonder why this guy ever masqueraded as an MC. Amazing is pretty good but I'm craving another left-turn (c'mon surprise me again Kanye!)

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

ahh, more android soul. i think I like this song more, is he really gonna do this all the way through though?

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

I can't imagine Kanye fans getting into this. Five tracks in and there's hardly anything to move to yet. People are going to hate this!

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

oh yeah! Paranoid is great. it's like Junior Boys with charisma

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

...with Kanye charisma

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

Robocop is my favourite so far. I can't wait to listen to this album for a second time.

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

that consistent auto-tune sound has some weird nostalgic feeling to it doesn't it? reminds me of 90s club music

shaun  said about 1 month ago:

...sorry, forgot i was listening to it for a while. Coldest Winter woke me back up. Sounds great. I'm a bit auto-tuned out though.

Why didn't he put Pro Nails on this album?

I'm up to my 6th listen and am starting to get misty eyed and lovey dovey.

JudyDickslap  said 24 days ago:

I've decided that 'see you in my nightmares' is a truly shitful song. It screws up the consistency of the album in the same way that 'drunk and hot girls' does on 'graduation'.

tigers  said 24 days ago:

i like that song!

my only problem with the album is that it needs two more tracks i reckon.

JudyDickslap  said 24 days ago:

Yeah, I reckon it needs more tracks too. 'Coldest winter' is a bit gash as well. And it doesn't really work with the rest of the album. He should have saved it up for an album dedicated to his mother.

Ubu  said 24 days ago:

I love the previous record, and had read nothing about this one before slapping it on. Is it some kinda in-joke between him and Spike Jonze or some other hipster? I can't get past how ridiculous it sounds. I'm yet to decide if this has got any merits at all. Pretty funny joke though.

VelvetDogge  said 24 days ago:

to me the previous one seemed directionless. i like this one, he's gone off on an odd path.. haven't given it a proper listen though. will be a cold day in hell when he hits the heights of the 1st album.

JudyDickslap  said 24 days ago:

I really love 'graduation'. Apart from the fact that his rhymes are a bit shit and ''apologin'' isn't a real word.

anok  said 24 days ago:

come on. ''apologin'' is a highlight! half kanye's charm comes from his crafty mangling of the english language.

wow - he needs to stop playing these new songs live, or get the sound right first.

TagoMago  said 24 days ago:

This stuff is horrible. I can't really discern between it and those Gummy Bear mobile ringtones. It's a cut above Crazy Frog.

Ha, hyperfuzz and I were actually speculating as to whether 'love lockdown' was inspired by the Gummy Bear ringtone...

muscles.mail  said 19 days ago:

if you guys hate so much why don't you go write a 4th album, organise an international tour, and perform the tour?

bunch of morons, the lot of you.

lessmore  said 19 days ago:

?

I happen to like the article.

TagoMago  said 19 days ago:

I just heard the Howie Bear ringtone on television. I'm pretty sure this Howie Bear fellow at least co-wrote the new Kanye album, which is a surprise, since Kanye's new material wasn't anywhere near as good as the ringtone.

Why don't you do that?

drugshakehands  said 15 hours ago:

i'm listening to late registration right now, i thought it was my least liked kanye album. it's pretty solid, the song with brandy is about the only one i'm not keen on.

I am loving this record - even Robocop is growing on me. Street Lights is amazing.
