Can anyone recommend a good removalist, Collingwood area and/or a storage place that is secure and reasonable.

C'mon..someone must know somewhere, I am still getting over the fact that we are going to live with my parents for a few months...
I am doing that at the moment....argh! so painful and its only been 1 week! one more to go...
oh i'm in the same boat. sucks.
but i have no recommendations. a friend stored his stuff at the storage place in collingwood that's near the Laird and moved with Man with a Van. He recommends both.
Poor love, I am just going to try to stay permanently inebriated the whole time and hope it all washes over me. That, or I shall be on the news for drowning them in the pool. Good luck to you Trock! Try to stay sane.
thanks MrsD I only have one more week though so should be ok
I stored some stuff at Fry's Self Storage on Alexandra Pde recently. The price wasn't bad, and there were no security problems. Only problem was you couldn't access your stuff outside of business hours (8-6 on weekdays, maybe 10-4 on weekends), which can be a drag if you work full time and such. website here- www.frys.com.au/fitzroy.html
can't you use white pages or google like the rest of us?
almost everywhere in collingwood/fitzroy/abbotsford area is booked out. if you're leaving it in storage for a while just go for the cheapest place. fry's in footscray is cheap ($100/month for 13 cubic metres) and has plenty of room available.
I wouldn't leave my things at fry's.
Rigid, I have looked at the white pages and google but last time I chose one I was accosted by one of the removalists, and they also turned up with a tiny van and told me they had to do two trips down Hoddle St in peak hour, so I thought people who have had dealings with these companies would be able to recommend someone or as above avoid them.
Everyone else, your help is much appreciated.....
Hey MrsD, how much stuff do you have? Van About Town moved me if you have a lot of stuff you'll probably want a truck rather than a van. They do have fairly big vans though.
In the past I've just rented a truck from Budget and roped in some mates (for the price of a few slabs and some pizzas) to do the dirty work.
Earlier this year we got some removalists to take about 30m3 of our stuff 2 km. We thought small distance, easy job as everything was in storage and boxed so opted for cheapest guys we could find. Bad move. These guys took forever, charging by the hour, and took no care at all. While we were helping. Even managed to chip up our concrete drive somehow.
Good luck.
Storage we used Fry's in Bayswater, they were great!
The people we 'rented' the container from, from NOrway wanted to fine us over $5000 for not returning their container on time. As if we had anything to do with that! It was from the boat to Fry's, unpacked and back to where it came from I guess.
i can recommend a nationwide boycott of all services and products from Kennards Self Storage. I've had no experience with the hire division of Kennards, but suggest a boycott there too.
I have to do this.....is the storage cheaper the further from the city you are?
