interpol thread

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago  or at  12:00AM on Tuesday, June 27 2006 in music

ill need one to slag the new album when they sign to interscope.

In hindsight, antics hasnt dated anywhere near as much as TOTBL and the writing is defintely more matured, but what are interpol without rampant teenage concepts of love and alienation? they become a bunch of old men

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

I just regot TOTBL the other week- is (still) awesome!

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago:

indeed, but the reverb is ridiculous, honestly!

banks girlfriend was the bridesmaid at trump jrs wedding os banks is hanging with the drumpster these days, back then he couldnt sing, play or get laid. This is spoken in volumes in the music

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

Yeah they use it well though.

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago:

whats your fac track goodbye?

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago:

welcome mike witty, who cares sins

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

'P.D.A.' easily; the breakdown wrecks me each and everytime. You?

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago:

fuck you are asking an interpol nerd who paid 600 bones for 4 LE shepard fairey prints that!

that breakdown is kkkilllerrr, they are technically ordinary musicians, well kessler especially but that bit is just amazing.

shit hands away was always something to me, and one cant go past obsatcle1 the first times you heard it, but the new is it at the moment i chop and chnage of course.

You feeling the "your looking alright tonight, i think we should go" breakdown in that?

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago:

that wasnt fuck you either, it was fuck, you

PumpUpTheHam  said about 5 years ago:

she's lost control is pretty good as well...

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

I was thinking about that breakdown today at work- this is weirding me out.... (Although my mind often wanders at work) The song sorta goes sour at that point- sorta goes raw if ya get me.

japanrodeo  said about 5 years ago:

it's so kesslers band.
he keeps the whole shit together.
ilove totbl

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago:

thats the beauty of the song to me, it lets go which is very un-interpol then goes back into interpol mode, give it a few more stabs youll love it eventually, might come to you later. I didnt get obstacle2 until recently i always hated it so much

what about antics? take you on a cruise is something special as is public pervert for mine

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago:

yeah its kesslers band japers, but the rythym section adds a hell of alot, if you had conventional rock bass player in that band theyd be nowhere and pauls knows how to sell a line no matter how silly it is

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

A coupla good songs and I do listen to it now and then, but it feels very cut'n'dried compared to TOTBL (I that doesn't really make sense, but anyway).

japanrodeo  said about 5 years ago:

antics is a fucking monster of an album after totbl, but they really nailed it.
i can't choose a favorite song.

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago:

indeed, its more of a grower to me, but how can they ever top totbl. Its basically a cut and dried version of totbl with paul more clearly ( less reverb) snging i love you over the top

Goodbye_beret!  said about 5 years ago:

yeah that is more or less what i meant.

the third hurdle  said about 5 years ago:

choose one you dont like?

i still have trouble with length of love

thanks filterfeed.

filterfeed  said about 1 year ago:

so that sounds like he is not a permanent member, which is a shame, could've been interesting.

anyone got any hope for this 4th record? i didn't listen to the last one at all.

Ghostface  said about 1 year ago:

the last album wasn't bad but it's far from their best work. apparently the original 4 recorded the album but Pajo is just filling out on tour duties and the like. I also like that it's out on Matador

theklausfactory  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah, I have sort of lost a little hope for them but the last album did seem to be a step back in the right direction. It had some good moments.

The clip at the top of the Matador blog post, I linked to above is for a new song called 'Lights' which I have to admit on first listen didn't really get me. His voice kind of sounds weird (in a bad way)... dunno, but I won't pass judgement until I have heard the album in its entirety.

They really need to do something new though to keep me on board the Interpol train.

New song 'Barricade' has leaked.... sounds pretty bad

Wire|Side  said about 1 year ago:

The record has leaked. Better than the last effort but still to early to form an opinion overall.
Not liking the vocals personally.

shakethecloudsout  said about 1 year ago:

lol at fans of this band.

continuing to prove the first album was a complete accident. i have never laughed so hard at a record ever. almost every sound, lyric/vocal or arrangement choice seems comedic. gay cabaret music, it should be on broadway or something.

Ghostface  said about 1 year ago:

i have never laughed so hard at a record ever.

then you sir have clearly never heard Sinbad's best of Stand Up album ya khunt.

interpol still think they're an $85 live act ha ha ha

steveholt  said about 1 year ago:

Strangely conflicted by this. TOTBL is amazing and even Antics had its moments, but the past 2 albums have done very little for me, but the prospect of seeing Interpol with Pajo is inticing.

Ghostface  said about 1 year ago:

Been cranking Turn on the Bright Lights for the past 24 hours. Amazing album. That is all.

devines  said about 1 year ago:

i agree with ghostface...

Does anyone want two interpol tickets, cost price, to their sold out show at enmore next tuesday in sydney. If so PM me!

devines  said about 1 year ago:
