Is there wireless internet there? If not, access to the information will be better from home or work.

Goal attack  said about 3 years ago:

internet + laptop + projector, DO IT, Birmingham!

Goal attack  said about 3 years ago:

Watch all those little red states go blue

Pelt and/or Holler  said about 3 years ago:

if it's anything like the 2000 election, it'll be a loooooong session...

Inactivist  said about 3 years ago:

Is it some sort of CNN link or what?

questionmark  said about 3 years ago:

if this thing starts at 3.30pm, it will be 11.30pm tuesday in the eastern states, 10.30pm in central states and 8.30pm on the west coast. do you reckon the whole thing could be called by then?

election nights have been ruined I tell you by these poindexters who are able to call it beyond statistical doubt at 6.35pm based on the first count of the moggill scout hall booth (before preferences) based on the even proportion of doctor's wives, working families, footy mums, cashed up bogans, silvertails and basket weavers in that part of the electorate.

bump for manhattan

Inactivist  said about 3 years ago:

Yeah, I'm super into the idea of watching this but I'd rather not turn up and have the thing over. Or watch graphs on someone's laptop. So... what are you guy's doing for it, Birmy?

Manhattan  said about 3 years ago:

Well, I have the day off, so it's a matter of where I'm buying my beers. But yeah, 3.30pm is WAAAAY too late to start. Why not go from midday?

Carn Birmy, get your act together.

Just got a press release which said Channel Seven will be suspending regular programming from 11am AEST on 5 Nov to cover the election via NBC's live programming.

Inactivist  said about 3 years ago:

Come 'round to mine, Hatts. We'll get toasted from 11.

Manhattan  said about 3 years ago:

Inacty, I think I need more than just one person to kiss when Obama gets elected (not to jinx it or nuttin). I'm not the exclusive sort.

Inactivist  said about 3 years ago:

Should I invite shoes_no_socks?

Manhattan  said about 3 years ago:

It's a deal.

bamesjaker  said about 3 years ago:

Wednesday November 5th, Tuesday November 4th. Which is it?

birminghamhotel  said about 3 years ago:

Hi Everyone,

At the time of first presenting this event, networks had not announced their coverage details,

So we will now be screening the coverage from 11:00am Melbourne time. This is from the time polls close on the American east coast.

So come down, The Birmingham Hotel - 333 Smith St, Fitzroy.

Manhattan  said about 3 years ago:

HOORAY

Thanks, Birmy.

Inactivist  said about 3 years ago:

YEAH! This is going to be interesting. You don't get commentary when you see the footy at the pub, and this broadcast is mostly going to be about commentary...

russiancaravan  said about 3 years ago:

Hmmm, I wonder if my boss would be amenable to me working Cup day and taking Wed off instead...

birminghamhotel  said about 3 years ago:

so... what did yr boss say?

Inactivist  said about 3 years ago:

C'mon, people!

LoadMyRig  said about 3 years ago:

i'm gonna pop down for lunch i reckon.

thenewmeatloaf  said about 3 years ago:

I'm goin' to Mistys to eat buffalo wings and jalapeno poppers, so I can pretend I'm actually there.

Manhattan  said about 3 years ago:

I'll be there in about an hour and a half, whether I have company or not.

Inactivist  said about 3 years ago:

Super, Loads/Hatts. I'm gonna watch from 11 here and then pop down for lunch. Sweet! Midday drinking to celebrate (hopefully) a positive change in the global political landscape!

Ron  said about 3 years ago:

The whole ''free entry'' thing is a bit of a given, eh? I mean, all you're doing is turning on the telly.

Not that I'm complaining. I would be there with red, white & blue bells on if I could.

LoadMyRig  said about 3 years ago:

i'll be there by 1pm.

elaine  said about 3 years ago:

I read yesterday that 30 million people voted early.

Many of them black, from poorer neighbourhoods and first time voters. In an effort to make sure that GOP court action doesn't void their votes.

Manhattan  said about 3 years ago:

Does that mean you're coming to the Birmy for drinks, Elaine? Or just an observation?

elaine  said about 3 years ago:

just an observation.

probably the wrong thread.

some poor suckers are at work.

mipearson  said about 3 years ago:

I might ride up for lunch. What's the menu like?

Or after work - but by that point it'll be all over.

russiancaravan  said about 3 years ago:

sigh

Unavoidable work stuff today. AND I worked yesterday.

It'll be CNN on the couch for me after 5.

astrousersasmind  said about 3 years ago:

Goddamn exams! I'll be there after 8 if there is anything left to see, besides drunk chats.

tihstar  said about 3 years ago:

So they do food? If so I'll be heading down for lunch.

turtle  said about 3 years ago:

No food, but they don't mind you bringing food in

JunkiePhil  said about 3 years ago:

$6 small Napoli from Marios, next door,
Best eats around that gaff.

tihstar  said about 3 years ago:

Thanks chaps.

JRB  said about 3 years ago:

I wasn't going to go to this but the way the early results are going I may need to head down for a little moral support.

birminghamhotel  said about 3 years ago:
