Have a listen and you might agree.
Thee Oh Sees
I think they're like a punked up version of the B52s but I'm crap at describing music so best you listen and decide for yourself.

I agree
I agree.
Masters Bedroom is one of my fave albums from this year.
All hit, very little miss.
So much better live then recorded.
Masters Bed falls short for me, love the first 2 songs, the rest gets a bit samey.
Lovely people too, John in one of the funnist people I've ever met in my life.
Had me thorwing up with lack of breath at one point.
I'm trying to get em over here somehow.
As is Eddy Cuz.
I think Witch Hats are doing a split 7'' with them soon too.
I've had Block of Ice stuck in my head for days!
I'm gonna see them again on Friday! Want me to say hello for you JP?
Please do!
Can you say ''Aussie 5'' to him for me.
He'd say that in a british accent to me all the time, for some reason.
1/2 the time you can't even understand him, speaks a million miles a miniute.
Are they playing with Yellow Fever by chance?
They're excerlent too, say hi to them too!
Supports are:
TY SEGALL
A real charmer from the Traditional Fools.

HERE COMES A BIG BLACK CLOUD
Portland's most free-wheelin' and garage-smart dance band.

Ty Segall! Awesome!!
We played with him too,
Nice guy.
I aparently (can't remember it) yacked his ear off for an hour about the Scientists, and he'd never even heard them.
Felt like an ass the next day.
He's kinda like Made For Chickes by Robots.
There is another band John was in a while back called 'Coach Whips' that are a more savage raucous version of the Oh Sees.
Worth a listen.
We played a basment show with them in Sactown.
It was a really small room packed with about 40 people.
All jumping and what not, hitting your head on the roof everytime you moved.
I only lasted 5 songs due to one over excited punter spraying beer cans all over everyone.
He just kept on opening them and swinging them around his head, I was drenched and bailed because of it.
Then about 2 weeks later,in NY, on the other side of the country, same guy popped up again.
Slabtown??
Nah, Played there though.
I ment Sacremento, they just call it Sactown, cause 2-pac did.
Watched the live goner set, it was real good should really get the album. Do they have many release?
They have a few. Their name seems to change slighty between each release.
fag!
Yeah, these guys are ridiculously great. Masters Bedroom is maybe my favourite record all year.
I just listened to ''Help'' and it freaking rules.
I've come round to the LP now.
It's actualy all bloody good, not a bad song on it.
Wish they'd come here.....
i wish they'd come here too. if you get them over, adelaide show?
SURE THANG...
Were coming your way soon, but thats not with the Oh Sees, so I'll shut up...

Thanks uvrace for the heads up about the rooftop show btw- two tickets bought
Evelyn rooftop can't be that big, right? 26 and sunny is perfect for Thursday.
Last night was fucking terrific. Most fun I've had at a gig in awhile.. Paying for it at work this morning though
Last night was cool. Good to hear ''I Was Denied''. These chaps must love Melbourne, eh? They've been here for at least 10 days. Unless they've been away and came back again.
Still my favourite live band I reckon. So much fun. Rooftop worked really well.
Uv race were as bad as I remember them being, which is a shame.
nah uv race were great. technical difficulties hampered them. took 1/3 of their set to get into it but i thought they were good.
Todays show was up there with the Bendigo show they played a few years ago...awesome.
the corner show was fantastic, i'm actually really amazing at TOS's stamina, it was incredibly HOT and they were relentlessly lively and cheerful and it was pretty excellent, they played every song I wanted to hear. I was pretty damn satisfied.
with the exception of the barely 18 year old girls standing right in front of me, talking throughout the entire set, with their backs to the band, taking photos of themselves (with a very, very bright flash) all evening. and their barechested, horrid little boyfriends.
errr, unrelentlessly.
No, you had it right the first time woolfat.
Unless you mean 'unrelentingly'.
thanks bungle. hours and hours of data entry has my brain resembling baked beans.
:)
Also I thought Total Control destroyed it at the corner, though I still kinda wish they played the more synth-heavy tracks with a drum machine, as the live drummer doesn't quite sound as crisp.
The Oh Sees were a hell of a lot of fun, but by about the 45 minute mark I'd had enough of them, wouldn't have minded a little bit of variety.
yeah, they definitely suit a shorter set.
i missed a bit of total control, but what i saw was fun.
Didn't see the Corner show. Thought the rooftop show was heaps more fun than the Sugar Mountain Show. I was a lot more intoxicated though
they were good at Sugar Mountain, excellent at the Corner and best on the rooftop. But the last quarter of the Corner set probably could've been chopped.
Has anyone seen this blogspot before???
Fan Made Recordings
Was just trawling the internet as I do and came upon it
Hey that's my blogspot :)
Recording of the rooftop sounds so good because I got a line out from the soundboard. The guy who did sound is super awesome and always helps me out at shows so a lot of credit should go to him. I also recorded the show at The Corner but the sound isn't as good. I'm trying to get a multitrack recording off the sound guy before I do anything with it though. It's the longest show I've seen them do as well. Clocks in at about 70 minutes.
Live @ Sugar Mountain here http://soundcloud.com/horiscopic/sets/thee-oh-sees-live-at-sugar
new song off an upcoming lp, sounds alright
whoops
Sweet, man those san fran garage bands are prolific.
