why all the competition? theyre both good in their own ways

Mo  said about 5 years ago:

cause its friday - seems like a good way to fill the time and i wanna know what people think...

being a music discussion forum n that

why not eh?

dudewolf  said about 5 years ago:

your the king of rock mo. you are.

Mo  said about 5 years ago:

we all know paul stanley is dude...

with you as close second

Simon_Sez  said about 5 years ago:

Chuck could play lead, wrote awesome songs, and could duck walk.

But Elvis could shake them hips, sing like a motherfucker, and ended up having a towel roadie, getting presidential approval to carry guns and drugs across state lines, and died on the john.

this is a music discussion forum?

chuck. easy.

Angelic  said about 5 years ago:

I like both..one was marketed to white people one to black..they both crossed over that shit and everyone liked em..and both are legends. both.

but chuck is a guitar player, elvis is not

chuck.

rawk  said about 5 years ago:

king of rock was some guy who lived as a slave for his entire life picking cotton who seriously had the blues and never saw a cent for any of his tunes that were written in the little spare time he had. no one actually know's who he is, but he was wicked.

Dan_Crad  said about 5 years ago:

Chuck was marketed to white people. As well.

Elvis could play guitar. Not like Chuck, but he could play.

Mo  said about 5 years ago:

chuck purposefully sang a certain way and his subject matter was to purposefully attract a white audience...

perfect teenage rock n roll anthems

Angelic  said about 5 years ago:

yeah he could strum and shit elvis..

I mean Chuck kind of laid a lot of stuff down regarding rock n roll playing

Angelic  said about 5 years ago:

yeah ok chuck was marketed both ways..sure..

Dan_Crad  said about 5 years ago:

If I could only listen to one song the rest of my life, it would be Johnny B. Goode. Without a second thought.

Angelic  said about 5 years ago:

that wasn't a euphemism by the way..although it could be

yeah Johnny B goode rocks

I like reelin and rockin too.

the live 71' album is it 71? that slays em all..the one with my dingaling..

littlesmoke  said about 5 years ago:

The answer is on this album...

Mo  said about 5 years ago:

dan_crad - i feel the same way about rollover beethoven

dudewolf  said about 5 years ago:

holy diver!

littlesmoke  said about 5 years ago:

He's got the midnight madness, he's got control........he's the king of rock and rolllllllllllll

marz102  said about 5 years ago:

Chuck by a mile. Created so many styles of rock n roll. Whenever in doubt just ask Marty Mcfly.

monkeyman  said about 5 years ago:

I'd have to say Chuck hands down - He wrote killer riffs and had a style that influenced just about every rock guitar player since.

Elvis was good too though, but went soft musically and physically.

Chuck also wrote the book on degrading acts towards groupies too I believe.

bigstar  said about 5 years ago:

the real king of rock is Johnny Burnette

Thread closed

secretly wanted to say this for a while

Give the prize to the black guy. C'mon its not like they are gonna get the money.

Darkland Recordings  said about 5 years ago:

fucking chuck man.

elvis was a fat cunt.

Bugsy.  said about 5 years ago:

i dont think chuck is too strapped for cash these days. hes such an american institution now they pretty much forgave all his indescretions and johnny b goode was selected by nasa to represent 20 th century popular music on the disk that went on the voyager space probe.

Barman  said about 5 years ago:

Chuck wouldn't piss on Elvis.

But he'd watch someone else do it.

TopherPlus  said about 5 years ago:

elvis was a fat cunt.

quotable quote

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

my chuck song on repeat would be The Promised Land. Followed by Nadine.

Bugsy.  said about 5 years ago:

he certainly would!

i remember my dad telling me how he saw chuck and little richard play in 1958 at the carbondale town hall when he was a kid

medicineman  said about 5 years ago:

to hard for me to choose though - i'm an Elvis man through and through but my guitar hands cry in protest for worship at the alter of chuck.

chimpassgimp666  said about 3 years ago:

Chuck by a long long way. Sure Elvis was good in his own way, but wasn't much chop at writing songs or playing guitar in my opinion...yeah sure strum strum but James Burton was the man. And Chuck pioneered a sound and style while Elvis pioneered a sound and style ripped from the blues.

PooPeeTaste  said about 3 years ago:

Chuck. Named my first guitar after him.

JRB  said about 3 years ago:

Elvis had a better sense of rock 'n' roll excess. He spent his money on a mansion and Cadillacs. Chuck bought a country club and wired it up so he would watch girls pee.

chimpassgimp666  said about 3 years ago:

Aside from the girls piss side of him wasn't Chuck supposed to be an absolute cunt? Vaguely remembering someone's bio (maybe Keith Richards) where he is talking about wanting to meet Chuck his entire life and when he did it was a major disappointment.

scallywag  said about 3 years ago:

yep. that was in keiths book.

there is a link to the youtube footage of him and chuck and the ''oh carol'' jam. pretty fucking funny. i remember he also reckoned that chuck always used to use the cheapest pickup musicians for his touring bands. richards reckons they always sounded rubbish.

scallywag  said about 3 years ago:

chucked charged him for the hire of his amps, if i remember too....

Mo  said about 3 years ago:

i can TOTALLY see why Chuck was a ''prick''

JRB  said about 3 years ago:

Yeah, watch that full Hail Hail Rock 'n' Roll doco. Chuck comes off as King Prick of Prick Island.

Mo  said about 3 years ago:

but why jrb, why

chimpassgimp666  said about 3 years ago:

That was fucken great.

Don't touch my amp

Mo  said about 3 years ago:

i think the don't touch my amp argument is what directly leads to the ''oh carol'' incident

have i watched hail hail a zillion times? perhaps...

scallywag  said about 3 years ago:

keith ''you got to live with it''
chuck ''i've been living with it for 60 years''
keith ''well we both got to live with it after we're dead and gone''
chuck ''well, i ain't dying baby''

JRB  said about 3 years ago:

but why jrb, why

Starting a prison riot.

that's where he get's chuck onside, like ''i'm doing this to celebrate YOU and YOUR legacy''

scallywag  said about 3 years ago:

yep, he was quite diplomatic.

Mo  said about 3 years ago:

i reckon that is the MOST diplomatic you will ever see Keef being, and only cause it's his idols... no one else would get away with that behvaiour with keith in that period
