temporarybenbutler  said about 1 year ago:

They're probably publishing first and subbing later. Seems to be the new model.

horse  said about 1 year ago:

thats very web 2.0 TBB.. in the meantime these 3 hour old articles make them look bad

scissors  said about 1 year ago:

I think they're subbing first because all the online articles (especially the long ones) have the hyphens in them - which would suggest they had laid them out for print before pushing the transcripts online. Either way it's pretty disappointing. I've also e-mailed them (yeah, I'm a grandpa) about their fucking annoyingly misleading punned up headlines...

MichaelDudikoff  said about 1 year ago:

The Age's subbing has always been scarily shit. Prior to leaving Oz I would read it primarily for the angst it would cause me.

Now, when I glance at the website I am regularly accosted by that annoying sex and city shit or jack marx talking about how smoking crack off Russell Crowe's perinaeum is a bad thing. And, of course, terrible, terrible subbing.

Interested in Tbb's opinion on quality of subbing at The Age over time .... always shit (my claim) or recent decline ??

sister  said about 1 year ago:

serious recent decline on top of shit.

shhh  said about 1 year ago:

it's becoming more like who weekly every day

mostly just talk of celebrity couples

MountainMan  said about 1 year ago:

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

just showing my ignorance, but is melbourne a one paper town in terms of dailies?

paulie  said about 1 year ago:

.

astralwerkor  said about 1 year ago:

i only wonder because perth is a one daily town, and it is perhaps the worst major daily in the countries. a vendetta against the labour government, an editor drunk on power, and the scariest and funniest letters section i have ever seen.

What sister said: serious recent decline from a Grauniad-esque initial standard.

Yeah, and the Herald Sun is the standard-bearer of not just fine writing and editing, but also journalistic integrity and the upholders of balanced reporting. I'd rather have a few speling mitaks than be subjected to bigotry and lowest-common-denominator journalism.

That's actually potentially not a fuck-up. He has, in fact, been both.

black wasp!  said 7 hours ago:

But he isn't now! Medvedev is later named as president. The fact that he's been both means it's almost more important to make the distinction now.

louis  said 7 hours ago:

it's a fuck up. both quotes are contemporary, they name him as president at the start (wrong) and prime minister further down.

nice work subs and the journo who pulled it off the wires AND possible the journo who put it on the wires.

Also, in the same article, they had about 7 spelling mistakes and a repeated paragraph.
