Sweet, assuming the Glasshouse is different to the Cambridge. Cambridge was a bit of a shambles last year unfortunately.

101010101010101  said about 3 years ago:

The philosophy of size one looks well interesting. Especially with Phil on board!

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

Oh wait, the Glasshouse is the Cambridge. Well, I hope people be quiet this year!

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

Vegan pancakes as well with Phil panel.
And free!

svelteslacks  said about 3 years ago:

mount eerie tour? i think i'm a little out of some loop here.

101010101010101  said about 3 years ago:

I have Supergrass the night before. Quick drive Sat morning I wonder?

runoutgroove  said about 3 years ago:

good work sceaux.

beertickle  said about 3 years ago:

friday night is usually when they have the 'bands' while saturday night is for the sound summit but sceaux or runout might know more about that.
also there are bands on sunday for the zine fair in civic park being organised by alpsofmessandnoise including songs and castings.

shineslikerubies  said about 3 years ago:

it should be a rad weekend, although i always seem to miss it or large chunks of it. but binary, you definitely should come up.

beertickle  said about 3 years ago:

here are the bands playing the zine fair...

carlos esq  said about 3 years ago:

this gonna be the sauce.

gunshot_glitter  said about 3 years ago:

whoo

goldbuttons  said about 3 years ago:

I need to organise myself and try and do a weekend thing. And find somebody to come along with me.

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

Are hotels normally booked out quickly for this?

101010101010101  said about 3 years ago:

Friday night's the real kicker of a gig, but I won't be able to make it.

Might come up early Sat, shines. I'll let you know.

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

Hotels do get busy - best to book in advance.

There's also camping

beertickle  said about 3 years ago:

The Ibis is central to everything (smack in the middle of the Cambridge and the festival bar). Best be careful with the newly enforced 2am lockout though.

shineslikerubies  said about 3 years ago:

um, worse... it's a 1am lockout...

CaptainLeSnak  said about 3 years ago:

so bummed i'm gonna miss this year.

hope it goes amaaaaazing eli x

locky  said about 3 years ago:

so if i get the 2 day sound summit pass is that all i need to buy? all the other events are pretty much free?

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

Yup - most events free. Some gigs have costs. Like the TINA gigs.

runoutgroove  said about 3 years ago:

how much are the mt eerie pancakes?

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

FREE!

chef'd by me
they'll be awesome

may be byo maple syrup though.
i wonder if he could get mirah to make us some?

alpsofmessandnoise  said about 3 years ago:

the TINA gig i'm putting on is free to come to. you should probably throw spare change at the bands though.

and you have to get out of bed and be there by 12 midday. it goes til 5.

songs + castings + dead farmers + the garbage and the flowers + the alzheimer blanks + the bowles + brassskulls.

brassskulls, castings and the alzhiemer blanks are the best newcastle bands we have. probably the only local bands on the festival program too.

mitch_brennan  said about 3 years ago:

promises to be an awesome weekend. kk null.

billybarwang  said about 3 years ago:

strange that hey.... a festival in newcastle and no newcastle bands on the main event nights...

this'll be the shit!! lots more newcastle based bands and other weirdos

3/4 October @ Hamilton Station Hotel Lineup includes Grannyfist, Go Genre Everything, Crab Smasher, Crux, Elise&Jem, The Thaw, Anal Cum Wolf, Inappropriate Tough Guy Behaviour, Netas, Xylocaine, Drillbit, plus heaps more tbc. $2 Entry!!!
....also i think Castings & Thylacine Death Rattle (Heil Spirits & Festive Jackels) are playing too>>>

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

That's gonna be awesome. It's a shame Castings aren't involved in any of the 'official' proceedings.

billybarwang  said about 3 years ago:

not really a shame mate...

SGH  said about 3 years ago:

Nothing doing at the Lass O'Gowrie?

billybarwang  said about 3 years ago:

nah sgh.. the hamos the replacement by others.

mitch_brennan  said about 3 years ago:

the 'this is not part, of the tina festival' shows provide on of the most interesting aprts of the weekend. it's a shame that the tina people shun themselves from whats actually happening in newcastle. however, it might be a good thing.

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

Hey haters, TINA is a national festival that looks at ideas, ideals and passions throughout all areas of independent, emerging and experimental arts. I think its amazing it exists, and that the form allows for so much diversity, not just one small creative sector of one geographical area of the country.

runoutgroove  said about 3 years ago:

i'm not sure that they're really haters sceaux. Events like TINA aren't going to be able to make everyone happy but we're all better off with it than without it. the kids have done a good job taking things into their own hands and putting some shows on anyway.

now all they need to do is put on some extra shows around whatever town is selected for ATP....

goldbuttons  said about 3 years ago:

I've just realised that I will now be away for this! Although I may be able to make it to the zine fair if I'm not too jetlagged..

How long is the train ride from syd to newcastle?

runoutgroove  said about 3 years ago:

How long is the train ride from syd to newcastle?

about 3hr?

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

yeah - 2.5 - 3 hours

necktie  said about 3 years ago:

haters?
you try being ignored for nine years (what are we lepers?) after all of our hard work, i had hoped that all of the us may be a little more appreciated or respected...and by all of us, i mean the COUNTLESS artists here in newcastle. THE CITY WHERE THE FESTIVAL ORIGINATES AND RESIDES. it IS a part of the city. why are locals so ignored by TINA?

necktie  said about 3 years ago:

and why is that all the local hardcore and bands (a) mostly shite.

and (b) endorse and encourage the local kids to only be interested in THEM?

i have lost count of the amount of times an interstate or overseas band has played to 10 people (who the fuck walks out on CRUX, PISSCHRIST, SEVERED HEAD OF STATE, ABC WEAPONS, RYOKUCHI, AMPERE, BRAIN RESIN etc...
everyone - even the local bands themselves sometimes, leaves watching their friends and only their friends?

the TINA people and the local artists need to communicate more - not just six weeks before the festival is due to begin.
the above shit is an example of bad communication and bad vibes...that are perpetuated continually. can't we do more than just bitch and moan and look after our own?

necktie  said about 3 years ago:

discuss.

mitch_brennan  said about 3 years ago:

oh necktie, causing a ruckus once again. but i agree, i've termed that ''the newcastle effect''. it sucks.

eyeoftherobots  said about 3 years ago:

SOOKS. NEWCASTLE IS AWESOME.

firewitch  said about 3 years ago:

elise&jem are not playing at this. I dunno who said we were. No one asked us!

gunshot_glitter  said about 3 years ago:

We need a 3 person tent for TINA.

Any oh so nice chats in the Sydney area that can help spare a large tent will be plied with beers in appreciation.

everything is booked :-(

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

FOUR DAYS

blogging here

runoutgroove  said about 3 years ago:

nice collection of videos there sceaux

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

Hey if you were thinking of coming but were worried about where you'd stay then... why not camp??

AUNTY JENNY'S TENT CITY CAMPGROUND

This Is Not Art has set up a temporary Campground to provide festival goers with the cheapest accommodation option for the festival - $10 per person per night, open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.

So, if you were unsure whether you could afford to stay for the whole five days - we've just answered your question! Other budget accommodation options in Newcastle usually book out over the festival period – but you can guarantee yourself a place to sleep by booking into Tent City – there is room for up to 500 people.

runoutgroove  said about 3 years ago:

nice work aunty jenny

necktie  said about 3 years ago:

silence.

a response to the/my/our above dilemma is needed from TINA i feel.

thanks for your time.
tsk tsk.

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

TINA is a festival that promotes DIY culture - people program events that are relevant to the communities they represent and if you feel like you're being ignored why not pull together a festival that's either a part or not a part of TINA and do it for yourself instead of idly whinging on a message board? If you feel there needs to be more communication between ''the TINA people'' and Novocastrians then why not initiate it?

sceaux  said about 3 years ago:

PS this started yesterday and is going way great.
