For fans of Modest Mouse, 13 isn’t an unlucky number. It’s been 13 years since these indie rock heroes began their musical journey, and now they’re taking their first trip to Australia.
Choosing to help Australia welcome in the New Year, Modest Mouse will bring their existential tunes to life in Australia when they tour through December and January. While both Falls Festivals may have sold out, fans have been ensured another opportunity to see them live, as Modest Mouse announce very special headline shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
Powerful, dynamic and in a league of their own, Modest Mouse shows are renowned by fans and critics alike. With an album’s worth of new material to showcase, Modest Mouse’s live shows will satisfy fans that have been waiting years for the band to appear in Australia.
Of their last album, Good News for People Who Love Bad News, Rolling Stone wrote: “As other bands grow old rather than grow up, Modest Mouse have finally found the big cheese.” And on their forthcoming album (due for release in early 2007 through SonyBMG), they promise to take their band – and their fans – to a whole new level.
Original drummer, Jeremiah Green, has returned to the fold and they’ve adopted a new band member: legendary Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr. Vocalist Isaac Brock has described the new album as a “nautical balalaika carnival romp” and coupled with the new additions to the Modest Mouse family, this release is set to be their most stunning to date.
Tickets are on sale MONDAY 30 OCTOBER, and with a cult following behind them, Modest Mouse’s maiden Australian voyage is destined to sell out.

jeremiah coming back to drum is pretty much almost as good news as johnny marr playing guitar. he was such a vital foundation for their early sounds, such a fucking good drummer.

I'm after a ticket for tomorrow night's show at the Prince. Let me know if you can help.
applecore, I think POW has released more tix
Thanks Ralph! Got em now :)
That setlist. Wish I got tickets to that show instead
Melbourne: Last night was waaaaaay better than last week. Better setlist, better sound and the band were on fire instead of being lazy slobs. No 'Heart Cooks Brain' last night but 'Cowboy Dan' and 'Trailer Trash'...so good.
Oh and 'Dramamine' blended into 'Life Like Weeds'...highlight.
They were clearly jetlagged and lazy that 1st Melb show.
:(:(:(:(
And Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset. And A Different City. Dang it
