Charge Group

shaun  said about 7 years ago  or at  11:03AM on Thursday, August 21 2008 in music

Yep, no dedicated thread, only gig threads etc.

Anyone going to the album launch in Sydney this weekend? So pumped for the album.

gunshot_glitter  said about 7 years ago:

I guess we don't have to use the Purplene thread anymore.

When and where is the album launch Shaun? I am seeing them at the Tote in a couple of weeks with Pikelet.

shaun  said about 7 years ago:

Not sure if it's something I should post publicly but I'll PM you gg. If you get Kabuki's mailouts it's in that.

gunshot_glitter  said about 7 years ago:

Thanks shaun!

filterfeed  said about 7 years ago:

what a tease.

cannot wait to hear this record, played the tour ep (or whatever it was) to bits. lovely stuff. will also be attending the charge group tote event in the coming weeks. are they headlining?

gunshot_glitter  said about 7 years ago:

Pikelet are headlining the Tote gig filterfeed, with Charge Group supporting. Extreme Wheeze and The Twerps are also supporting.

shrombone  said about 7 years ago:

Not the official album launch, just a wee celebration for us, our friends, etc. But all are welcome. We are rather jubilant that this sucker is finally hitting store shelves after almost 3 years work on it, so thought it fitting to do something low-key on the evening of its release.

I'm too dumb to work out how to paste the official flyer in here. Shaun, did I send you one?

shaun  said about 7 years ago:

Nah, I didn't get a flyer, but if you pm the url I can post it here.

beertickle  said about 7 years ago:

is the flyer the album cover? cause that is a sweet pic.

can't wait for a fortnight

steveholt  said about 7 years ago:

When is album released?

filterfeed  said about 7 years ago:

hey beertickle, dragons versus cocks pre-gig? aloha's in town and suggested it. you won't be on your own this time, and let's face it, you need all the help you can get.

this should've been a pm.

beertickle  said about 7 years ago:

album is out on Saturday via Remote Control

filterfeed  said about 7 years ago:

good answer.

polaroidsofandroids  said about 7 years ago:

the album is awesome.. really really really awesome

shaun  said about 7 years ago:

Depending on how much money I have I might just have a Charge Group listening party at my house with my cat and a six pack of Maes

beertickle  said about 7 years ago:

Might do the same Shaun though it will be my housemates cats

trafficsounds  said about 7 years ago:

i'll be there on saturday night. i like a late night launch.

beertickle  said about 7 years ago:

the flyer....

shrombone  said about 7 years ago:

Thanks for putting that up, 'tickle. There's a bigger version of the flyer on the latest Myspace blog thingy too. And yep, the album cover is from the same Jack Warren art - an NYC-dwelling painter who's as talented as he is crazy...and generous...

The album sleeve has a bunch of his works from the same series.

beertickle  said about 7 years ago:

yep he is a champ to answer the door of a random australian guy armed with a scrap of paper with an address and a couple of hours to kill. a gracious host.

So, i've booked Charge Group to play my next gig night.

Coolies from NZ and Alps are also playing.

It's been over a year since the last Sydney show, so i reckon some folks will be almost as excited as I am :)

Here's the deets...

Time: 8pm
Date: April 28, 2011
Location: FBi Social (Level 2, Kings Cross Hotel) - 248 William St, Kings Cross

And a link to the event's website.

nice lineup, good night, fun times..

thumbs up to the venue from a mixer perspective.. it's not wembley stadium, but everything was easy and it sounds better than most spaces without much effort.

steveholt  said about 3 years ago:

New Charge Group album!!! Got it yesterday, from first listens sounds true to form i.e. excellent.

If M&N wasn't so busy spruiking bloody Catcall albums maybe there might have been some word of this somewhere.

specialaward  said about 3 years ago:

A REAL fan shouldn't need a M&N article dude ;)

steveholt  said about 1 year ago:

I'm not sure how I ever missed this but while scouting around the net with that Sandpit vinyl re-issue I came across this.

My copy arrived yesterday and it sounds beautiful.
