Second album ''Thieves'' is out on Saturday and they're touring - do their fans buy albums?

I'm calling 12.

You?

Sure, they are adorable. They were much more adorable as teenagers, granted...

And my God, that is an AWFUL picture!

Angelic  said about 2 years ago:

due to the slowness of posting rates over the last 9 minutes, I'll go back down to 22.

I got old when I had children.

Hendrix's Dog  said about 2 years ago:

I go soft and say top 10 - did a show with them in Canberra, and manned the merch desk after - sold PLENTY at the gig. Depends on their launch schedule I reckon. Plenty of shows might work in their favour.

yep, late 70's early 80's, always been bogan central and as you mentioned big on sports which was cool, i had 8 mates expelled in yr 10 and was lucky to hang in myself. A mate teaches there now, reckons after lunch 60% of the class are stoned, it was only 10% in my day, good school though.

ltherpantsisbackfan  said about 2 years ago:

i went to that school as well ltherpantsisbackfan and although it is a private school it's at the bottom rung of the ladder, never met so many drug addicts, alcoholics, criminals, musos, and tough cunts in my life, i loved that school.

i agree. outta my friends in year 7, there was a murderer, attempted murderer (who i became friends with again in w2 franga psych unit after an involuntary stay. lol. and all the dudes i was friends with were hard n got expelled promptly...but unless, like me, you are from frankston or even dingley/south of aspendale/in a lower socio-eco area, you can really begin to see a culture of boys clubs and mates helping mates - all those beaumaris-chelt-sandy-mentone clicks...twas a hard school till about 98, but then nah...they all went to parky high...i dont think the hardman image would work for declan though, cunts never take cunts in lenseless glasses seriously for some reason.

loveparade  said about 2 years ago:

this band sounds to my ears like another fall out boy. i don't get the description of their sound that most people are buying.

haha awesome!

i thought there were murderers at all schools though. there was also the guy that raped an old woman or did he double-up and murder too?

On-topic. I've always found the drummer to be a champ. And I could've told you this album would chart well. The suburbs are abuzz with British India fever.

katiepotatie  said about 2 years ago:

the front page says 'a whole 153 albums sold' - obviously there is some hating going on here, but how many is 'usual' for a #5?

Backyard  said about 2 years ago:

unprecedented? maybe unprecedented for a band from whatever school youse are all rambling about.

but good on em. didn't seem like the new stuff was cutting through. they're ambitious and precocious but who isn't these days..

Backyard  said about 2 years ago:

number 5 is probably around the 3000 - 3500 mark but it fluxuates significantly week in week out. then again heaps of indie stores don't report to aria.

whoever wrote that news item, whoa.. bring out the claws.

katiepotatie  said about 2 years ago:

so maybe if they only sold 153 copies they had an easy week with no real competition (or i'm guessing thats what the report was implying), but if stores dont report to aria it could have well been higher... ok.

i think good on 'em, they seem to work hard so i wouldnt begrudge them any success they might have. then again i might br the only person here who didnt go to school with them, maybe if did i would have something to hold against them!

josejones  said about 2 years ago:

whoever wrote that report was clearly being irreverent.

I got suspended from St Bede's in the late 80's because my hair was too long. Kind of ironic now that I have a shiny dome. Maybe they were right and I was wrong and God had his revenge

team ham sandwich  said about 2 years ago:

So I was talking about the 153 albums joke on the tram on the way home from Polyphonic Spree last night and my friend nudges me telling to shut up. Turns out their manager had been at the gig and was sitting next to us. Ouch.

katiepotatie  said about 2 years ago:

ahaha looks like the reporter got the name of the album wrong in the news brief thing. doh, how embarrassment!

HEB  said about 1 year ago:

Fark!
How much does a full page advert in NME cost these days?

Even The Temper Trap who are actually on the radar in the UK only bought a quarter page - and it was to advertise a lot more than four gigs...

timewaster  said about 1 year ago:

Did British India buy a full-pager in the NME?

monkeyman  said about 1 year ago:

Well I guess British India might need a full page ad to get the attention, whereas The Temper Trap don't?

I'm assuming that's a hell of a lot of money to spend on what would already be an expensive venture.

team ham sandwich  said about 1 year ago:

I heard a rumour that the last time british india went to the uk it was a shambles.

a- they didnt get visas and got turned home
b- they then paid big bucks for a lawyer to get thehm back into the country
c- flew back to the uk
d- played a couple of shows where the sound was fucked but a few big name a and r guys were there.
e- flew home and the back to the uk
f - tried to break into a castle where the drummer put holes in the bottom of his feet which got infected.
g- the reason they had flown back was to play again to the same a and r guys, but they had been fired so it was alla waste anyways.
h - british india suck

Im not sure if thats exactly what happened as the person that told me was drunk.

team ham sandwich  said about 1 year ago:

and my formatting sucks more than the band. sorry.

outerspacextrapnel  said about 1 year ago:

At least they've got a name that will work well in the UK.
