In Radiohead's new video for ''House of Cards'' from the album ''In Rainbows'', no cameras or lights were used. Just data.
Watch Video on YouTube Make sure to click on 'Watch In High Quality' beneath the video view counter - this video looks crap in yer standard YouTube resolution
Better still check out the 3D Visualizer for the video HERE! Click on the 'Play Symbol' and go make a cup of tea - takes forever to load but is worth it! You can play around with the visual data using yer mouse - impressive!
Even better! Download the data HERE! Radiohead have released this data under a Creative Commons license and are asking fans to use it and make their own visualizations
i wish they would make a record without microphones and instruments
Now if they could only make music without instruments we'd all be happy.
Snap!
Fuck I fucking hate you Radiohead! People have been making film clips for years without using cameras, you self-important jerks.
interesting that when you spin the head around to ''look'' through the eyes, the face appears quite normal and the 3d effect is diminished.
''Fuck I fucking hate you Radiohead! People have been making film clips for years without using cameras, you self-important jerks.''
I have to agree.
That's a pretty standard visual illusion CIC - that we see it that way is part of why that illusion that was on all those news.com.au sites, with the spinning woman silhouette who could spin either way, works.
Sooks!
...ya'll sookier than Radiohead
I don't understand...radiohead are claiming to be the first band to make a cgi or animated video?
...y'all
I hate the gaydioheads.
It's not CGI nor animated
anyhow i never mentioned anything about it being a first
radiohead LOL
Peaches - Radiohead are claiming to be the first band to make a video using laser-based 3d mapping technology.
hahahahaha, totally. The only thing lamer than Radiohead fans is Radiohead haters.
so - is the song any good?
The Making-of ''House of Cards'' Video
In Radiohead's new video for ''House of Cards'', no cameras or lights were used. Instead, 3D plotting technologies collected information about the shapes and relative distances of objects. The video was created entirely with visualizations of that data
Radiohead still have made no mention of being the first to do this....
I bet it's really shit.
Radiohead are claiming to be the first band.
Weakest point on the new album for mine. Tracklisting suggests the band agree ;)
I think it's time to trot the radiohead FACTS sheet.
fact A creep was cool but it was the chunk chunk before the chorus that was cool
fact B the bends is NOT the cred album
fact C Amnesiac is the best album because it has a song about a pyramid on it.
fact D OK computer was sooky about computers
The song is great, the clip is great. Handle it
Arcade Fire did this like 12 months ago, didn't they?
It's basically made with a shitload of lasers collecting data
FACT e. I still like this band I don't know why everybody hates them. FACT f I have a hail to the thief tshirt I can sell someone for 10k FACT G HTTT was NOT a dissappointment. I liked it.
i really like the song. hmmm.
fact f = more like 10 cents.
How does this work? Cos it's third last on the album? Therefore they were hiding No Surprises away on OK Computer? Only good tracks are at the front of an album? wot?
When I hear old Radiohead, all I hear is daggy 90s indie music. When I hear new Radioheaed, I hear boring plonk plonk futuremusic with increasingly whiney singing.
They don't take enough drugs, that's the problem.
If you guys put down your bongs and your stooges records for one second and actually listened to this band, you'd realise how much better they are than your shitty Tote headline band.
Ah, that felt good.
when i turn on the radio today i hear dickheads who weren't alive recycling the worst of the 80s.
90s indie music is daggy? I'm getting old.
That's weird. Most people I know who listen to the Stooges, either don't smoke pot, or have given up pot.
I was kind of being facetious. Just after Reckoner, which was given solid live outings before the album was released, and before Jigsaw... which was the obvious single off the record. And is kind of misplaced in the vibe of disc 1. I think Down Is The New Up, or Bangers & Mash could've worked better in that place on the disc. Don't get me wrong, House Of Cards is a great b-side ;)
if I have to give up weed to enjoy Radiohead, I think I'll just.. live without.
i think it goes: give up weed
become a christian
make radiohead your fav band
poor knerf. starting to see why people dislike radiohead and their fans.
is knerf insane?
he's had half the amount of usernames that you have, so possibly.
hahahahaha :)
Surprise! Get fucked!
god, for what reason? my usernames were transparent. I didn't know this dude existed..um...oh..yeah I geddit.
poor knerf.
shit man :|
dude, knerf is a radiohead fan. i suspect that giving up weed is not necessary.
I cant believe someone disagrees with me about music in the internet!
Hi.
Can somebody point out where Radiohead make the claim they are the first group of people to do this?
fuck you all
Radiohead never claimed to invent CGI
It's just a good video
cunce.
ha, i don't really care. i was just testing the waters of radiohead fans. some of the comments above were like a red-rag to have a go, so I did.
anyway, i'm simply not bald enough to enjoy this band yet.
They don't make that claim at all.
The thread is just sooking.
I like em. I like Thom's vox. good vibrato. operatic. just need some songs. not glitch shit.
are you confusing them with the Manics?
This video is not CGI
That was to Charles...
k
that film clip from Hail to the Thief where RoboTom is sitting on a park bench and the buildings start to collapse = first CGI filmclip ever
bahahaha
