THE OFFICIAL 2006/07 ASHES THREAD

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago  or at  1:14PM on Wednesday, October 18 2006 in chat

bfore anybody emplores me to DAFSFFS, this is the only official thread sanctioned by cricket australia, none of it will be appearing on ebay and people may only post after joining the 'Australian m+n cricket family'.

so come one, come all, post your predictions, rants, news, interesting things.

also, feel free to have a go at me if you hate sport and feel it should stay off this forum, i understand but i'm catering for an audience here. call mke any name you want.

anywho, i though i might get things going by stating that i think steve waugh is wrong with katich, and i dont think he has any further potential in either the one day OR the test teams.

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

like i said angelic, this is the OFFICIAL thread!

tangy_zizzle  said about 5 years ago:

I think Clarkey has more potential than Katich. Clarkey for next captain.

lordsnot  said about 5 years ago:

i have a tv in my office at work. bring it the hell on

Lordevilegg  said about 5 years ago:

Oh god cricket, the worlds most boring game

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

welcome to complain lee, go right ahead! no jews for you here though.

TopherPlus  said about 5 years ago:

God damn this is a shitty sport played by bogans i have no respect for.

I still want a talking boonie.

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

and clarke has a large amount more potential then katich, whether he should be captain next, i'm not so sure.

angelic_layer  said about 5 years ago:

Katich is a hack.

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

thats highly hypocritical of you topher, and quite a misguided comment. i will defend the status of cricket as a purely upper class sport that has been despoiled by working class hooligans over the years. and boonie was one of them!

angelic_layer  said about 5 years ago:

Ian Chappell saved the game.

holyrattlesnakes  said about 5 years ago:

Clarke's going to be a great player. but he's not a captain; very much a follower, not a leader.

angelic_layer  said about 5 years ago:

Clarke is a hack too.. He rim licks Ponting.

TopherPlus  said about 5 years ago:

just because i like the idea of the talking boonie, doesn't mean i respect him

my original comment stands..

cricket is boring, the national team are bogans

versionsporadic  said about 5 years ago:

bring on the talking botham

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

i beg to differ topher!! we have warnie, symonds, clarke. oh, wait.....

they do, however, play good cricket.

angelic_layer  said about 5 years ago:

not everyone can be Gower.

someone has to carry the gear, pack the bus, thats what the bogans do..and whos going to field at fine leg?

A bogan thats who...

Us slippers know the way things stand.

versionsporadic  said about 5 years ago:

not good enough cricket though

angelic_layer  said about 5 years ago:

our team is at a low point

VERY LOW

we have NO schtick in our side, no 'word' no 'pawnage'

I mean Clarke? WHAT A BABY..

WHO'S OUR BOWLERS

LILLIE THOMMO HOGG WALKER?

TopherPlus  said about 5 years ago:

20/20 (whilst an abomination in the eyes of cricket fans) is at least palatable. watching bogans slog sixes all over the place is more fun that watching them stand there for 5 days.

getting beaten by english yobs made the last ashes even more painful.

still i leave this thread for the fans discussion....

I dunno I'll watch it.

LoadMyRig  said about 5 years ago:

i'm going to this tonight - freebie from the boss.

doesn't mean i like the game.

hillsonghoods  said about 5 years ago:

as if lee and johnson are actually that sick - i bet they just can't be bothered.

TagoMago  said about 5 years ago:

Harwood and Hopes? An unexpected & nice surprise. Harwoods about 30 already, and has been great for the Vics, i never thought he'd be selected for international duties despite being one of the best quicks in the state competition for about 4/5 years now. So that's good for him. Hopes is pretty decent aswell, very similar to Ian Harvey, lots of variations of slower balls and can use the willow, again he's also about 30.

While these are good selections, you reckon they would have given some kids ago?

anonymous  said about 5 years ago:

reckon johnston would play if he could.

astralwerkor  said about 5 years ago:

thing is, selection in this game really doesnt mean much, its just hit and giggle really. but i guess some exposure is better then none.

angelic_layer  said about 5 years ago:

its something..only thing I have against 20/20 is that its over too soon..
maybe it should be 20 players a side for 40 overs of slogging.

TagoMago  said about 5 years ago:

In latest news Ponting says he is aiming to shatter the world record total against England in this tournament, and Hayden denies punch-up with Martyn.

He's the ODI lineup

  1. Adam Gilchrist
  2. Matthew Hayden
  3. Ricking Ponting
  4. Michael Clarke
  5. Andrew Symonds
  6. Michael Hussey
  7. Cameron White
  8. Mitchell Johnson
  9. Nathan Bracken
  10. Stuart Clark
  11. Glenn Mcgrath

Michael Clarke has moved up to 4 in Martyn's abscense which i think is more suited to his style of play. Still not sure why Shaun Tait isn't being considered for ODI selection.
