Please Buy My New Book

devilwillride  said about 2 months ago  or at  8:11PM on Monday, June 30 2008.

Hey guys,

I used to post on here a lot and I'm not sure if any of you remember me. I have a written new book that I have had published and I was hoping that I could come back here and drum up some sales.

Called ''The Fantastic Place'', it tells the story of a young group of teenagers and their dog Fritz growing up next door to a futuristic abandoned amusement park in the not-too-distant late 1990s. They spend their idyllic days in their club house sipping on lemonade and eating toffee until one day Fritz jumps the amusement park's fence and disappears never to be seen again.

Convinced that Fritz is still alive by the bone-chilling dog howling they hear at 1AM on the dot every morning, one particularly cold Friday night the teenagers put down their bongs and decide to scale the fence. What they find is a race of deranged carnies viciously guarding a secret formula for eternal life in a hidden underground garden known as ''Meinschatz'' or ''The Fantastic Place''. The teenagers must then choose which one of them will be sacrificed to appease the carnies' heathen gods and set their wonder chum Fritz free.

Published by Random House and at $49.95 RRP for the hardcover version, the film of the book, to be directed by Jamie Blanks (Urban Legend, Storm Warning) and starring Gary Sweet, Demelza Reveley and Tammin Sursok, is currently in production in Broken Hill.

It would really help me out a lot if you guys bought a copy and helped both my publisher and the producers of the film break even, as well as helping me secure an advance for the prequel ''Beneath the Fantastic Place''.

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards,
Tim Winton

I mentioned Gary Sweet, didn't I? He is actually only standing in for the dog on set, which will be CGIed in later. Magda Szubanski will be providing the voice of Fritz.

aloha  said about 2 months ago:

his real name is barry, so it can't be true.

svelteslacks  said about 2 months ago:

you'd be surprised who posts on here southernbelle.

southernbelle  said about 2 months ago:

And Tim Winton is kinda a big deal in modern Australian literature, so drumming up sales on M&N would be pretty bizarre.

charlesincharge  said about 2 months ago:

he's just having a laugh. his real name is Morris Gleitzman.

southernbelle  said about 2 months ago:

Nah, I moved over to fasterlouder and to a lesser extent melband. I got banned from both for posting pornographic images of timewasters who didn't have their own transportation.

I found the audio version of this book narrated by James Earl Jones and Mark 'Jacko' Jackson at gleebooks on saturday.

I await the $5500 fine for annoying catholics during world youth day with barely restrained anticipation.

crackwhore  said about 2 months ago:

the warrick capper narrated version is the collectors edition anon.

devilwillride  said about 2 months ago:

Professor Stephen Hawking narrated the collector's edition, crackwhore, but that is a common mistake most people make.

crackwhore  said about 2 months ago:

thanks for clearing that up for me devil.

hiponion  said about 2 months ago:

Obviously Bill Hunter is in the film version somewhere, what's he playing this time

devilwillride  said about 2 months ago:

Bill Hunter plays a local soothsayer Mr. Electrico who doubles as the amusement park's electrified fence.

Modi  said about 2 months ago:

Does the delightful living treasure Bud Tingwell make an appearance?

raincoat  said about 2 months ago:

But I don't really understand the joke, I must say...

me either..

devilwillride  said about 2 months ago:

Bud Tingwell will be playing Most Popular New Talent (Male) Logie Award Nominee Stuart MacGill of the future, who visits and advises the teenagers throughout their quest via a series of convoluted acid flash-forwards.

Stuart MacGill will be playing several of the film's First Class moments.
