i was quite late to the books, but i've really been enjoying the lemon of pink lately. Really almost everything i want from music right now.

Thought for Food is their best IMHO.

celluloid hero  said about 3 years ago:

used to be one of my favourite bands, i still think they're excellent, but it's been a while now since they've put out a new long player. i loved lost & safe, thought it was the best thing they've done.

ghostofbarry  said about 2 years ago:

Anyone know if there will be Melbourne shows/sideshows?

whale  said about 2 years ago:

i'm there

tinyman  said about 2 years ago:

Interesting. Pencils in diary.

amplexus  said about 2 years ago:

tickets bought. the best live band that never tours.

whale  said about 2 years ago:

i havn't heard lost and safe yet, what's it like?

trafficsounds  said about 2 years ago:

oh god i didn't realise it was sold out :(

Pelt and/or Holler  said about 2 years ago:

both sydney shows? shit. was going to come down for either syd or melb, may have to be melb!

whale  said about 2 years ago:

what, really? but who listens to the books!

trafficsounds  said about 2 years ago:

sydney festival shows are different though. old people take a punt on ''art'' and ''music'' especially because it's in the spiegeltent and go see shit they don't know about but like the description of in the booklet. and then walk out halfway through, somewhat miffed it's not what they were expecting. (at least that was my experience during mice parade...)

carlos esq  said about 2 years ago:

I did not anticipate the sell-out. Blast.

devines  said about 2 years ago:

dammit! i was waiting to get tix. and trafficsounds totally agree with you on the syd fest crowd. how annoying.

surely that's a good thing! people exploring new music and taking a punt.

ok, that part not so good. but i'd never noticed people doing that at syd fest gigs.

amplexus  said about 2 years ago:

so happy I bought these. such a good band. so so good.

take time

jimm  said about 2 years ago:

I camped out out for Tix for Nix once and a guy told he'd seen old people leaving during Joanna Newsom. Another time at Tix for Nix an middle aged woman was asking if St Vincent was a chanson. Hopefully, people do actually use it as an opportunity to get into new music, I know that's what I use gigs for a lot of the time.

So glad I bought Books tickets. I got introduced to them by a kind person I worked with a year back. Amazing band, I can't believe what they do works so perfectly.

@whale
lost and safe is great.

whale  said about 2 years ago:

i'll pick lost and safe up.. how about that newer EP?

likely to be tix for nix for the books?

I was surprized by how many beautiful, dark songs were on there, too.

ocelotl  said about 1 year ago:

Must say the new album is not satisfying me quite as much as Lost and Safe... pity. Oddly I belatedly discovered Tunng in the past few months and have been totally won over. I guess the ''folktronica'' label has been slapped on both of them - not all that accurately for The Books I'd say, but they do both scratch an itch in a similar way... melodic sample-collage, lots of dry humour. Recommend.

i have 2 tickets for their sunday show at thornbury theatre...and i cant go anymore.

nyx  said about 1 year ago:

How many dollars?

MelonHCST  said about 1 year ago:

Quite possibly

Arthurly  said about 1 year ago:

Yeah - Friday night at the Syemour Center - who's going?

Velodrone  said about 1 year ago:

Can someone describe this band to me? They're on a label releasing pretty good music. I may be interested, but have no way of hearing anything at work.

minuteman  said about 1 year ago:

they're $80 for both. i also paid $10 booking fee, but $80 is fine.
message me 0421302705 if interested.

MelonHCST  said about 1 year ago:

Oops, I only need one

minuteman  said about 1 year ago:

Still got 'em...

chrisj  said about 1 year ago:

i have literally just discovered this band. got 3 albums, first to digest was the lemon of pink. like it a lot.

ocelotl  said about 1 year ago:

Wonderful show at the Thornbury. My first time seeing them. Struck me how much surging wonder at existence is in their music. Well that's how it hit me tonight anyway. Love 'em.

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

Hilarious - scarves and duffel coats spotted outside the Thornbury Theatre. This is Melbourne in winter.

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

By 'winter' I mean 'summer'.
