full of cunts. thread closed.
is there a gold mine there?
OI! cockhead! I'm from ballarat. respect.
im thinking theres a large bogan element. but that the town itself isnt too bad.
does the war still rage between Ballarat and Bendigo?
i wouldnt call it a war... bendigo has more old people than ballarat... crisis over.
no.
because i was forced to grow up there.
I am from Ballarat too. What Ken said still stands.
hmm. not sounded too good
yeah, i didnt say there wasn't cunts that largely populate the town. it's full of them.
I have alot of friends from Ballarat, coming from bendigo means it's stacks on whenever I enter a room...
The fact that it's a uni town plays a big part.
hell yeah. and street rats have diminished in the last 6 years. and radio dave has died.
He died? Really?
Actually, I think my Dad did tell me that a while ago.
What about the other dude that used to walk around with all the cassettes?
eh? i just thought radio dave was it, i havent heard of a guy with cassettes. but someone did buy dave a cool cd player/ boom box and a bunch of cd's about two months before he died. i thought that was sweet.
radio dave's death
youtube interview.... wow
i would have thought the university would bring more desirables to the town?
Aw. That is really sweet. I can't look at Youtube at work but I'll check it out when I get home.
When I was at school there was this other skinny red headed guy who used to walk around with a walkman and a bag full of tapes. He'd pull them out and show them to anyone who'd give him some time. The cases had pictures of naked chicks stuck on them.
Having the uni there makes just about every pub in town a permanent o week venue.

When you play on the 14th you can tell all the locals to ''come back next week, there;s a sweet band from MELBOURNE coming!''
close. 23rd of elvis has an ex dead salesmen in it.
Next the Dead Salesmen will reform
Eerie. Yeah, is Lenny still playing bass for them?
Deadies Duo are playing a show in kyneton with tim rogers raising money for depression awareness
yeah len still playing bass with 23rd.
Someone should give Lenny his own tv show. Or at least replace that abomination on Rockwiz with Lenny as host.
funny you should mention that
Haha. I've wondered what Lenny does during the daylight hours. I am both appalled and impressed.
Any updates on the vibe?
The Yard Apes best band in Ballarat at the moment. Check them out! Someone book them in Melbourne FFS.
Man held over fatal shooting
KIM STEPHENS
January 11, 2010
A 28-YEAR-OLD man was charged with murder last night after surrendering to police following a shooting that left one man dead and another seriously injured in a Ballarat street before dawn yesterday.
John Lucas, of Mitchell Park, was charged with murder and attempted murder and will appear in Ballarat Magistrates Court today.
Steven Brooks, 32, of Wendouree was fatally wounded and a 36-year-old Delacombe man injured when each was shot once in the upper body outside a Ligar Street residence about 4am.
Homicide squad detectives launched a hunt for the gunman after the injured man drove himself and Mr Brooks to Ballarat Health Services Base Hospital.
Mr Brooks, bleeding heavily from a chest wound, had collapsed and could not be revived by medicos.
The manhunt ended when Lucas gave himself up at Ballarat police station about 6pm.
Homicide squad Detective acting Senior Sergeant Gerard Clanchy said a weapon was yet to be recovered and the motive behind the shooting was still under investigation. It is yet to be ruled out as a drug-related dispute over money.
Detective acting Senior Sergeant Clanchy said Mr Brooks and his friend returned to a Ligar Street home following an earlier altercation between Mr Brooks and another man and they were confronted by a gunman in the street.
''It all occurred in the street. After they were shot, both the victims ran along Ligar Street and one has collapsed in the street,'' he said. ''The other one returned, got the vehicle, picked up the other injured party and drove to hospital.''
Detective acting Senior Sergeant Clanchy said both victims attempted to flee the gunman on foot, but Mr Brooks staggered only about 50 metres before collapsing.
Associates of the dead man told The Age he made a telephone call before losing consciousness, saying: ''The mad bastard's shot us both.''
Both men were rushed into emergency surgery at hospital but Mr Brooks died about 6.30am.
Police were last night waiting to interview his friend, who remained in a serious but stable condition.
Detective acting Senior Sergeant Clanchy said all parties involved in the shooting, along with a man and woman whose home the incident occurred outside, knew each other.
''We believe all parties are known to each other so it's certainly not a random act,'' he said. ''We are still investigating the motive, that [drugs] may be one avenue but until we speak to more people we don't really know at this stage.''
The crime scene in Ligar Street was cordoned off for most of yesterday as forensic investigators scoured the scene.
Ligar street....i wonder if it is named after a lion and a tigers offspring
So I'm heading to Ballarat this weekend for a day trip. Any suggestions of places to check out or things to do?
Take a side trip to St Georges lake, it's really nice and just near Creswick.
i went there for the first time driving out of Meredith the other week.
we bought pies, we promptly left.
is Ballarat meant to be full of smackheads??
sovereign hill and gravy spot.
I (temporarily) live here and I honestly can't think of any interesting suggestions.
Facebook sleaze creator 'may face stalking charges'
THOMAS HUNTER
June 28, 2010 - 2:33PM
A Facebook page titled '100 Biggest Sluts of Ballarat' is being investigated by police, who say its creator could face stalking charges over the publication of the offensive list.
Victoria Police spokeswoman Karolyn Formosa today confirmed that one person has been interviewed over the page, which has been removed, but charges are yet to be laid.
She said 60 of the 100 women listed on the site had contacted by police but said investigators were calling for anyone else who had been affected by the page to come forward.
It is believed the creator of the page could face as many as 100 stalking charges, one for each name on the list.
Associate Professor Jeremy Gans of University of Melbourne's law school said the case showed that stalking didn't always mean following someone in the street.
''There's a huge list of ways you can stalk someone. It's not the page that's illegal. It's the conduct,'' he told The Age.
Associate Professor Gans said there were specific legal provisions about publishing on the internet a statement or other material relating to someone which causes fear.
He said police analysis would look at the effect of the page rather than the content.
''Then it's just a standard criminal law question of whether you did that either intending to cause harm to someone or arousing apprehension or fear or safety.''
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or go to crimestoppers.com.au.
Hoping to move to Ballarat very soon!
