Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffitti

batman4eva  said about 3 years ago  or at  10:21PM on Friday, June 20 2008 in music

Ok I'm pretty sure all of my friends who like music will ridicule me for this but I can't stop listening to it like I can't stop listening to shit Cambodian disco. On that note actually does anyone else like stoopid Sublime Frequencies music?

Does anyone else like this? Or should I post a blog link.

Ok I'm gonna go hide or something!!

switchbladesisters  said about 3 years ago:

i like him. I also like Sublime Frequencies too.. it'll be interesting to see what happens when Ariel comes out of the writers block

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

we can be friends!

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

...and concerning Ariel Pink, I find his music strangely unsettling, but I love it. I'm glad I didn't see him live otherwise the whole too-far-down-the-AM-frequency aura may have been ruined

batman4eva  said about 3 years ago:

Yeah, that's what stands out to me alot! Some of his songs though could stand alone as real good punk numbers, some!

Sublime Frequencies ARE good aren't they! Not on the label but foreign and probably weirdo anywayy: does anyone have Turkish Delights? I really wanna hear that one!

ariel pink isn't garage rock! what's going on here?

celluloid hero  said about 3 years ago:

...really good stuff though. get the doldrums. that 'among dreams' song is so so good

kazpatafta  said about 3 years ago:

I've also really been digging Blank Dogs and Pink Reason lately, I dooon't know! Have you seen this blog called Mutant Sounds? That's how I found it! I'll listen to Doldrums, when my internet gets fast again, and also send you Hardcore Devo vol 1 & 2!

Also how good do these look:

Thai Beat a Go-Go is really good!

nightmonster  said about 3 years ago:

the music released by sublime frequencies is not stupid at all - it's unique and regularly brilliant more like it, especially doueh, inerane, omar souleyman, shadow music of thailand and bollywood steel guitar.

as an aside i remember fondly ariel singing along drunkenly to 'ratfucker'.

mistletone  said about 3 years ago:

a new ariel video for an old song (gray sunset from the doldrums). ariel's hair is looking magnificent!

Woollen Kits  said about 3 years ago:

Ariel rules.

Though, I do believe John Maus rules harder.

batman4eva  said about 3 years ago:

hey nightmonster, it is goddamn unique, and brilliant! Whats Shadow Music of Thailand like? I like my Thai music, like Thai Pop Spectacular! That one ''unknown'' song with the fuzzy heavy rock guitars and high pitch chick whyyy did it have to be unkown damn!

nightmonster  said about 3 years ago:

i haven't heard the thai pop spectacular but i've heard the molam discs and have ordered the 'thai mystery record' (on mississippi records). shadow music of thailand is one of the best so far and only the third SF set to get a vinyl release. i missed out on the vinyl versions of group doueh and group inerane, with each of them going for big bucks on ebay now (consistently more than $100USD for albums that came out barely a year ago...)

Pelt and/or Holler  said about 3 years ago:

Shadow Music Of Thailand is great! One of my favourite SF releases... all the ones I've heard so far are great - with my favourites being Cambodian Cassette Archives, Shadow Music and particularly the Omar Souleyman one - was obsessed with it for months last year.

nightmonster  said about 3 years ago:

there's live footage of souleyman on youtube. i read somewhere that he has moved to columbus, OH. not that i believed it...

najort  said about 3 years ago:

i was just talking about dear mr nightmonster two days ago!!
Ariel Pink is just brilliant.
He's fantastic, and no i am not being sarcastic

nightmonster  said about 3 years ago:

hi najort. had to check yr profile to work out yr identity! hopr yer well.

Fielding Mellish  said about 3 years ago:

Ya know, Ariel Pink is in the current line up of the Lilys. I love that band.

Not so secret show

Phoenix this Friday

Ralph Malph  said about 2 months ago:

At $15, I bet those who forked out $50 on Sunday are spewing.

jhf92  said about 2 months ago:

It'll go real late, yeah? Was planning to leave pretty early for GP on Saturday.

mistletone  said about 2 months ago:

it's an 8pm start, we're going to keep the support slots short & sweet, all of us need an early-ish night before golden. will publish playing times soon.

this was such a last minute hairbrain scheme (decided in the early hours of this morning), so we are just so happy the phoenix could accommodate us. it'll be fun!

kazpatafta  said about 2 months ago:

I went last night and I'm not spewing, sounds like tempted to go again but probably will just preserve energy for a dance during their Golden Plains set.

Did they play anything after Menopause Man last night? Had to leave to catch the train/tram. Among Dreams put a massive smile on my face.

kuvasz  said about 2 months ago:

Dang it, I can't make the secret show. Good thing I did see them at the corner. The current band is great. Ariel is currently sporting a hamlet hair do.

klaximopark  said about 2 months ago:

Awesome! I'm there. Love me some Ariel Pink.

mistletone  said about 2 months ago:

there will definitely be no tickets available at the door tonight.
there will however be a pretty awesome surprise!

blacklight  said about 2 months ago:

Weird that tonight has sold out, whereas the Corner was 2/3 full......they sounded rad....

jhf92  said about 2 months ago:

Why's it weird? Phoenix is tiny compared to Corner, and $20 vs $50

klaximopark  said about 2 months ago:

Killer show, New shit is rad.

mistletone  said about 1 month ago:
