Also, I don't buy the increased TV audience line. Anyone who isn't watching it now is not going to watch it because it's on at night time. Chaddy and pubs etc will still be open to accommodate the non believers.
It would be 10 or 11pm before the players come out to post match functions. Too late for the kiddies to be up at Fed Square!

if the afl can get higher ratings for the gf, it will have more bargaining power when it starts to renegotiate the next broadcast deal. simple as that. i thought the afl would never change the sat arvo gf the same as it has not dabbled in good friday games. but now they are wanting to expand into the gold coast & west syd and take on the nrl in those areas they are wanting to build up as big a war chest as possible.

The highest quality football is played during the day in dry conditions. Twilight and night games always seem to have a little bit of dew around which causes handling errors.
PLUS you can not have a grand final with a yellow football!

The interstate push has been very badly managed to date. To potentially lose out on a day grannie because of these new shtinkin teams in places where no one is ever going to give a toss about AFL (in my lifetime at least) seems a shame.
