blake3030  said about 3 years ago:

Although there's nothing on it which excites me too much, props to them for putting together a solid line-up which is not off the back of another festival (as they have been in the past).

of fuck, please no sideshow cancellations... So many awesome bands touring...

Actionralf  said about 3 years ago:

the pogues!! anyone know about sideshow for this...I cant be fucked reading the entire thread

email  said about 3 years ago:

Wow. This makes me really sad. I really wanted to go to this. One of the few good festivals left... :-(

annehelena  said about 3 years ago:

They cancelled shortly after the first announcement, Actionralf.

tinyman  said about 3 years ago:

take it bake to cockatoo island next year?

tinyman  said about 3 years ago:

back, bake, hmmm.

shineslikerubies  said about 3 years ago:

would be great if they could. cockatoo was the best festival i have ever been to. but i would not count on it. hard to get funding together if you have had to cancel.

anonymous  said about 3 years ago:

just call it a art show.

email  said about 3 years ago:

fuck it'd be good if they did that. even if they decreased the lineup and put more local stuff in to bulk it up. it'd be awesome.

Melody  said about 3 years ago:

Yeah, I wonder how many was 'not enough'?

I will be out of the country, but was recommending it to my friends. How sad.

MickeyPratt  said about 3 years ago:

wow, i wonder if they'll reimburse flights....

Wonsly  said about 3 years ago:

Im blaming Galvatrons being in the line up, tuned a lot of people off going.

runoutgroove  said about 3 years ago:

what is going on here, its hard to believe that any festival could cancel just on lack of ticket sales so far out from the festival. was a pretty reasonable collection of smaller Australian acts

shineslikerubies  said about 3 years ago:

i don't know. if 2 months out you have only sold a small collection of tickets (a few thousand) and you need to get say 20,000 to draw even, then i can understand why you would be looking at contingencies this far out. if numbers were such that you stood to lose tens of thousands of dollars if they didn't change radically, then it makes sense to pull out sooner not later, so you don't have to honour all contracts etc potentially.

anonymous  said about 3 years ago:

but they said themselves the early birds sold well?

maybe the pricing was too much?

maybe people were waiting for the second announcement?

maybe no one wants to camp next to ikea?

shineslikerubies  said about 3 years ago:

the second announcement happened a while back. the early birds sold out quickly because it was all people who had been in previous years and were on the mailing list. but the first true round of tickets had not sold yet, and had been onsale for a month...

email  said about 3 years ago:

They were pretty cheap too, weren't they?

Also... There may be clauses in contracts that do cause them to be liable this far out from the date. Cheap tickets + poor sales = lots of money to be shelling out of your own pocket if it doesn't make right.

Really really really fucking sucks though.

poprocks96  said about 3 years ago:

Festivals sell out pretty quickly these days, don't they? Maybe if there were poor ticket sales they started to freak out that they wouldn't make any money/couldn't afford to pay anyone.

Do they owe more of an explanation to people than has been provided?

slothman  said about 3 years ago:

that sucks

dannulla  said about 3 years ago:

so why did supergrass and the futurehead shows have to be on the same night, damn it.
