I'd like to hear them do an album completely on analog synths & that monster on drums. That would be like a dream of magic.
I love Deerhoof, never listened to Friend Opportunity though cause the single was a bit shit. Love everything up to Milkman though. Runners Four is alright but it's not heavy enough. I love Deerhoof cause they fucking rock. They're one of my favourite live acts.
I believe so. I read a while back that the new guy was in the studio with them.
You needed to finish that with ''The End, by Shaun''
I think it's really great. I have an equal opinion of their last five albums though, all amazing. Give it a go!
Revised:
I love Deerhoof, never listened to Friend Opportunity though cause the single was a bit shit. Love everything up to Milkman though. Runners Four is alright but it's not heavy enough. I love Deerhoof cause they fucking rock. They're one of my favourite live acts. Will check out Friend Opportunity. The end, by Shaun.
Milkman is gold.
Um, how did this website go so long without a deerhoof thread? I love them, but they seem like the ultimate coolsie band of my time..
Have you heard the Green Cosmos EP? They come fairly close on that.
perfect!
I get DH fatigue quite easily, but love it when I listen to it. A whooole lot. Was having a discussion about 'guitar music' with a buddy the other day and used deerhoof as the answer to guitar music being too limited proving it's not instrumentation, but people who are too limited. The common musical world lacks the imagination & interpretation that deerhoof seem to have in droves of easatude..
fuckdang!! can you get that shit on vinyl?
google party is go.
There has been heaps of Deerhoof discussion, but mainly in tour threads or threads about specific albums.
Yep, for me it's either no Deerhoof or a week of non-stop Deerhoof. Non-stop Deerhoof weeks are always among the best weeks to be had.
Blake, i've been tempted to start this fred so many times! This is my favorite band, but inexplicably all my friends are ''meh''. I was beginning to think they were more of a drummer's band, but the song writing is just too, too good.
I think Friend Opp is awesome!! Can't wait til they tour. Who supported them last time, BTW?
This is my fave of their youtoobs, btw:

My Disco was support last time.
For me, they're a guitarists band. I'm in total awe of John and what he does.
I think there's something for everyone in Deerhoof.
i'd prob like them more if not for the vox. which are fun, but fatiguing.
CHOO CHOO CHOO CHOO beep beep
is that what yr talking about?
I bought Apple O when it came out having never heard them and it took me a good 4-5 months to get into it. It was vocals that stopped me from loving it immediately, I think. But I got over that and love the vocals now. Wouldn't have them any other way.
How fucking good is Milking!
And Half Bird is probs my favourite album. Cause it's the heaviest!

ya, real 'progressive'.
I'm so excited that i'll be seeing them again in a few days. Best band ever.
I heard a guy on the way out complaining that they played their songs too fast live, that the setlist contained too many of their 'abstract' songs and not enough melodic stuff and that, most flabbergasting of all, Greg drums too much!!! Why did he even bother!?
Setlist was similar to the one Nishiki posted above. Perfect.
Ladyboner for greg.
What a FUCKING AWESOME show.
they are the FUCKING BEST.
As inspiring as ever. To think I almost wasn't going to go! Damn.
Bonus points for Ed's matador pants/shirt combo and the songs where Greg and John were kinda trading twitches.
Apart from anok, I didn't see anyone I knew at hifi tonight though - were were you all? Going to sugar mountain instead, I s'pose...?
I was trying to play spot the chat. I failed, which us unsurprising because I wouldn't recognise anyone in this thread 'cept nish, and there was no nish (for obvious reasons-the gig being in melbourne and all)
And new war were awesome too, which was not unexpected.
My girlfriend is currently laughing at me because she hasn't seen me this excited after a gig in years :)
new war are always awesome woolfat.
that was the best deerhoof set since Chris left the band.
Agreed, anok.
Still reeling from deerhoof! so glad I went.
That was really fucking good.
This was totally the case.
i bought a t. i've done that every deerhoof tour. fanboy alert:/
amazing mix of medium-old to new tonight. and it was rad to enjoy it all with mswahili, the gentleman who introduced me to deerhoof. hooray.
can't wait for saturday.
still excited after this and a bit sad now that i won't be going to sugar mountain.
dramatically reducing my own chance of winning by posting this here, but what the hell. double pass to sugar mountain still up for grabs here.
I made the wrong choice.
you get another chance saturday.
Seriously, I walked past the door but I was feeling too poo to descend.
oh man, i wish you had've!
In Adelaide tonight!
That was a really amazing night - can't wait for it again at the Forum. Get to it Adelaide!
