Boredoms/V∞redoms Thread

astralwerkor  said about 3 years ago  or at  2:03PM on Sunday, May 25 2008 in music

So, I'm just now delving into the catalogue of this band/bands. And I must say I'm somewhat daunted by the immensity of material on offer. So, I'm asking for suggestions here, primarily as to what is essential listening. The free-for-all is now open!

'Chocolate Synthesizer' should be rather easy to find and is a good start out point.

Also find as much Hanatarash(i) as you can physically endure.

Is that Eye's previous band? I'll look into that. Thanks for the input fc.

Yah, Eye and Tabata from Zeni Geva.

I'm not entirely sure of the chronology for either band, I think there are mass debates somewhere in the japnoise forums regarding Boredoms starting points and screaming 46yr old supermen yelling at each other from binary balconies with bootlegs stating 'first gig ever' etched in them.

Heh, that sounds like a fantastic spectacle. I'm getting the Hantarashi LP right now. Looking forward to giving it a whirl.

Try and find the story regarding them, a bulldozer and a gig, for reading pleasure.

I vote for Super Roots 7 & 8, and Rebore Vol 0 (Vision Recreation).
Super Roots 9, which just came out, is even more trancey, with massed choir and drums and turntables... I love the abovementioned ones for the beats and krautrockiness and what have you. Super Roots 6 is very slightly closer to their rocky/punky earlier sound, which I'm not so much into but you might be!

I just read one about a dead cat, a machete, and two halves; and another about a lit molotov cocktail and an enclosed perfomance space. Sounds insane.

Thanks raven, I think I'm going to slowly work my way through the Super Roots stuff.

fastcanoe  said about 3 years ago:

Super Roots 9 is still the winner for me, has that cathedral on collapse feel to it. 40mins of glory. I might listen to it now actually.

mass debates

Snicker.

I love Vision Creation New Sun, but I haven't heard a lot of their stuff. If you can find a more epic, sprawling, intense psych album I'd like to hear it.

astralwerkor  said about 3 years ago:

I've just got that and started listening to it. Its intense, to say the least.

i'm an early fan - soul discharge is where it's at

soul discharge...sigh...blows my mind! Oo Na Poona Jup-Na-Keeeeeeel!

unvisible  said about 3 years ago:

So apparently Super Roots 10 is out. Only available in Japan at the moment, though. Anyone heard it yet?

en la noche  said about 3 years ago:

yeah it's awesome. best thing on it's the lindstrom remix. sweet laser synths.

astralwerkor  said about 2 years ago:

So, I just got all the Super Roots (I'd only heard the new one previously), and there is some fucking awesome shit there.

unvisible  said about 2 years ago:

I just got a shiny new Boredoms t-shirt in the mail and I am giddy as a schoolgirl. Finally a garment fit to be married in.

perhaps playing the entire album *Super Are *or Vision Creation I would happily make the trip

that wouldn't be wholly inconceivable, but rewind further back to osorezan no stooges kyo
or pop tatari. anal by anal, please!

the krautrock pretensions and loopy electronic sleights of hand on super ae and vision were the ominous and implied tip to the future-neo-hippie-drum-circle love-in iceberg. y'all know it's true.

unvisible  said about 3 months ago:

Does anyone know any more details about this yet? Daytime or nighttime? Indoors or outdoors? I've already taken the day off work to be on the safe side.

Ben  said about 3 months ago:

outdoors I hear...

probably starting at 11 o'clock... dunno if AM or PM

Ron  said about 3 months ago:

I just realised their MySpace says it's at Byron Bay, Austria. Might have to take two days off, unvisible.

volunteer page

or as a some sort of summary:

It will be 111BOADRUM on 11/11/11, and they’re looking for 100 cymbal players to help. They also need set-up volunteer staff (with “warm heart with great strength”) and volunteer drivers (able to attend meeting on Nov 6, picking up members from the Gold Coast Airport on Nov 7, drive between the members’ accomodation to the rehearsal venue on Nov 8-10, then take members back to Gold Coast Airport on Nov 12). “Let’s join the team to make the miracle moment of 111BOADRUM to happen.”
