and dont say taco bill plz.
That one down in St Kilda, Blue Corn I think, it pretty decent. Lots of beans and bits and pieces in everything.
blue corn is awesome, but a bit on the pricey side.
los amates came highly recommended, but i wasn't a fan.
montezumas is ok for cheap foods and loads of it, plus theirsangria is quite awesome.
There's a new mex restaurant opening soon on Lygon St where Cafe Banter is/was. I'm hoping it'll be good, cos it's so close to my house!
blue corn is good.
bit of a quick search here
Coyote Cafe on Nicholson street (Nth Fitz) is apparently ok... and Los Amates and Blue Corn ae good... but yeah, its hard to find sensational mexican... Mexicali Rose in Richmond is semi-decent.
I don't mind Amigos in Chapel Street - isn't there a good mexican restaurant in Toorak road too?
Mexicali rose is good. I know the owner, he used to have a Mexican food store on Bridge Road, and had lots of Mexican friends. I miss that shop.
blue corn
what about that one in clifton hill?any good?they iave free tequila nights
Is Amigo's in South Yarra any good?

but thanks! ill check these out!
Modi: you know Zac / family?
Can't beat the nachos pizza from Umago on B'St...
Zac doesn't ring a bell. I'm trying to remember the dude's name...
Not like we're best buddies. I only know him from when he worked in the shop, and I'd go in and talk chillies with him.
there's also a yum mexican restaurant in fairfield just near the train station
finally Perth has a food advantage over Melbourne. http://www.thatlittlemexicanplace.com.au/
yeah yeah I am sure the coffee is shit....
i found that place a bit crappy actually - something about the choice of vegetables perhaps? not too bad, but y'know, not great in my mind!
Modi: Ahh, okay. Zac is the son of the owner.. . I used to talk to him on IRC when I was just a teen...
los amates looks awes!
"Anyway we really hope you’ll enjoy our food and tell all your friends; we have to pay the rent soon and have to get some relatives out of jail in Colombia.
We hope you enjoy our food and service.
Arturo & Staff"
hahah awesome.

Sorry, I'll let you be the judge!
hmmm looks interesting!
What should the corn be?
awesome corn?
hard corn
Ha ha, well done basil seal.
I like Los Amates so much I went two nights in a row last month. AND they play great latin music.
I quite liked Coyote as well, it's a shame they closed down. More of a Tex-mex place, but good quality.
So we went to Mamasita on Saturday night. I thought it was good, but I'm not sure if it lives up to all the hype. The taco tortillas were a bit dry, but the corn was very tasty, and the margaritas were strong. The best thing we ate was probably the quesadilla de queso, which was just a quesadilla of two cheeses with a jalapeno salsa. The crab tostaditas were good too.

variations on my night at mamasita
Had a lovely feast at Mamasita last week. Probably the best corn I've ever had. Also gorgeous were the duck and orange tacos, roast goat which went nicely with the fried plaintains and the little tostaditas.
We got seated straight away (arriving at the nanna time of 6pm). But the restaurant was completely full about 5 mins later. Nearly everyone after us was lined up down the stairwell. As we left, we heard the waiter tell someone the wait was up to an hour and a half. Sorry, no way I'd wait in a cramped stairway for that long, even for delicious foods. Loathe the increasing prevalence of no-bookings policies at hip places.
Walked pass Mi Corazon Tequila Bar and Cantina on Lygon st, East Brunswick.
Totally empty on a Friday night (7pm).
Have anyone been there?
Yep, good watering hole. Due to my veganism, they always give me stuff that's not on the menu (and is fucking wonderful) but I've heard mixed reviews about their regular selection of comestibles.
Hey Dickslap, I called up before and they do soy beef taco.
Bike ride distance but Mrs Tugboat loves Trippy too much we never go there.
That's a new addition, tugz. I'd give it a go, I reckon. Even though I'm not keen on fake meat. I reckon a smoked tofu taco would go down (hurrhurr) a treat.
Finally went to Mamasita....and talk about overhyped, we thought the food was terrible!
Best thing was the corn on the cob, and we tried quite a few dishes. So dissapointed.
went to Los Amates on johnston st on saturday night - had tacos de conchinita pibil....genius.
but everyone was pretty damn happy with whatever they ordered, so if you haven't yet, check it out! cheap too.
Dudes I heard (from the guy working in the King St Newtown outlet) that Guzman Y Gomez is opening at some point in Melbourne!
