what's a good place to start? and can someone upload something in the gmail plz? the live in melbourne thing sounded real nice

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

I guess Map in Hand because it's the easiest to get. I haven't heard the 12k reissue but I gather it's the same bar maybe a bonus track and different production. It's my favourite anyway.

Kiola and Distant Hills... are very good shorter releases, I guess in a similar vein to Map in Hand. I think you can still get the later at Paint it Black. Serrata is nice straightforward glitchy drone but probably not available anymore.

The first record It's Humbling When Two Saints Meet is really beautiful, more melodic and 'structured'. Heaps different from the later stuff IMO

adamdmills  said about 3 years ago:

shaun's really covered all the bases there. there's not much i can add. except maybe to check out codes adrift when it's released in a month or so.

filterfeed  said about 3 years ago:

you know, i only have the first album and i don't know why, considering runoutgroove keeps this site well up to date with happenings. maybe i should just wait for the greatest hits collection instead of trying to gather them all up.

feralmedia  said about 3 years ago:

What shaun said. Map in Hand is my favourite because I think it's the most deeply evocative Seaworthy record.

celluloid hero  said about 3 years ago:

cool guys thanks for the reccs

runoutgroove  said about 3 years ago:

such nice kids you all are.

it would be amiss of me not to put a link up to the 12k shop

you can pick up a copy of Map in Hand for less than AUS$20 inc. postage.

map in hand

lots of other great stuff on 12k too. check out the Autistici, Giuseppe Ielasi & Willits/Sakamoto releases

celluloid hero  said about 3 years ago:

ordered map in hand

i really like the live in melbourne thing on the myspace though. is that available anywhere? i'd really rather not pay for mp3s.

whale  said about 3 years ago:

its out of print. you'd be hard pressed to find a shop or distro that still has it i think.

celluloid hero  said about 3 years ago:

someone should upload it then

whale  said about 3 years ago:

ohhhhh i thought you meant you wanted a physical copy rather than mp3s. no matter.

kazpatafta  said about 3 years ago:

12k should do another run of the Melbourne disc. It's probably in my top 3 or 5 releases for the year. All 3 pieces are brilliant.

is anything still in print other than Map in Hand, Runout?

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

The Melbourne 12k disc is very good. Celluloid, I think you can still get it from Boomkat

gunshot_glitter  said about 3 years ago:

Thanks to this thread, I fell asleep to Map in Hand and had lovely lovely dreams.

Unfortunately a lot of stuff, especially the CDRs are sold out including the CPSIP disc. There are copies of 'Its humbling when two saints meet' still available. As shaun pointed out, this release is pretty old now and a lot more structured than the recent stuff. I checked last night and do actually have a couple of copies of the Live in Melbourne CD so if anyone is after a copy, send me a PM. Copies of the Seaworthy/M.Rosner split 3'' are still available from hellosquare.

a new album is due on 12k sometime towards the end of the year/early next.

feralmedia  said about 3 years ago:

You should make some t-shirts and badges that say: Seaworthy is me-worthy.

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

Haha, I would wear that for sure!

whale  said about 3 years ago:

brilliant!

runoutgroove  said about 3 years ago:

all those copies of live in melbourne have gone now. if you're after a copy try forced exposure or get in contact with Solo Andata who may have a few left for sale as well

adamdmills  said about 3 years ago:

codes adrift out now on sound&fury. two tracks of liminal drone and fractured guitar. it's been about two years in the coming, but more than worth the wait. limited to 100 hand-numbered, hand-packaged copies.

shaun  said about 3 years ago:

wow, one of the most anticipated albums of the year, nay, decade! :)

Agree with Hellza on this. More keen on Seaworthy than Grouper. What's the venue like?

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

Yep, what everyone else said. I'll be out of town though. Damn!

buttonselgringo  said about 1 year ago:

I/we are re-issuing the ''Distant Hills Burn Bright'' 3'' CDR (that we originally released in 2006) as a proper CD type thing with around 30 minutes of extra un-released goodness and all the trappings that come along with it. I, personally (not that I'm biased or anything)cannot wait, as it all sounds so fantastic. It's gonna be called ''Distant Hills Burn Brighter Still'' and will be out (fingers crossed), sooner rather than later.
GET ALONG TO THIS SHOW.

untold/animals  said about 1 year ago:

Aw, my eBay stock just dropped by 80%!

whale  said about 1 year ago:

ah, i liked distant hills burn bright.

runoutgroove  said about 1 year ago:

if anyone was still after the Solo Andata/Seaworthy/Taylor Deupree ''Live in Melbourne'' CD, some copies have just reappeared at the 12k store.

Arthurly  said about 1 year ago:

Been falling asleep at night listening to the Matt Rösner/Seaworthy release. Gorgeous.

Bought Map In Hand yesterday from a stall at Fitzroy Market. Fantastic music. I may have to keep an eye out for the other albums.

goldbuttons  said about 8 months ago:

Here is the poster....

seaworthy

While I really wanted Mark Challinor to play the show, he was unavailable. Fortunately, his twin brother Dave can play a set of experimentally droney guitar stuff. Quite a treat.

runoutgroove  said about 8 months ago:

The Townhouses don't visit Sydney too often. Check them out at bandcamp or at New Weird Australia or Polaroid of Androids

trafficsounds  said about 8 months ago:

oh i was wondering about the interesting addition of dave c (ie thought he'd be very loud!)

runoutgroove  said about 8 months ago:

nothing wrong with being very loud trafficsounds!
