yep. lovely sounds.
yes flume is a great song
great album!
this album is GREAT. has been on high rotation here.
it's a grower on me.
I've heard him back-announced as 'Bon Eye-ver' a few times, but I have it on good authority that it's 'Bon Ee-ver', as in 'bon hiver', meaning 'good winter' in French.
And yes, I likey too.
yep russian, it's supposed to be pronounced as ee-ver, french-stylee. lazy radio announcers otherwise!
tuts in the general direction of Triple R
I have hardly listened to anything but this album for the past week. Beautiful stuff.
Haven't heard it on the radio, but 'Skinny Love' would be the radio song, no? Flume is great also.
There certainly sounds to be some kind of R&B/soul kind of aesthetic to his vocals.
This is rather lovely. My hairdresser dude was raving today that this is already his album of the year.
wouldnt say album of the year but Lump Sum has to be up there with one of the hottest tracks so far. Have spun it heaps myself
i am enjoying it.
i love Skinny Love of the newbie

I think For Emma was an amazing album, and his gig at angel place for the Sydney fest was one of the best of that genre I've seen, but I can't get into the new album and probably won't bother this time for the price. Justin must be fuckin sick of talking about that bloody cabin though.
As great as Bon is, I really think that he's going to massively increase the dickhead factor at Golden Plains. It's a strange move getting someone as mainstream as him to headline GP.
mainstream? really?
Yeah. For sure, especially by Meredith/Golden Plains standards. His album debuted at 2 and he's all over the radio, plus there were ads on prime time TV for For Emma. Is he the most mainstream artist to ever play at either festival?
PLus he's featured on Kanye's last two albums and his single Monster.
for real? wow.
yeah, it was strange. At least there were in Tasmania. ''I told you to be patient, and I told you to be fine'' ''Bon Iver...For Emma, Forever Ago'' ''I told you to be balanced and I told you to be... ''Out now on someshit Records''.
I don't know if you've noticed, but GP dickhead factor has increased considerably since it started. Regardless of the line up, it was inevitable. The organizers have chosen to play to the dickhead card, and get more mainstream dickheadier bands each year.
You guys realize MGMT played Meredith right?
I went to The Music Bowl last night. It would be easy to come in here and state about overblown hype, dickhead factor, and suggest dinner options whilst they are playing at Golden Plains. What I will say is that that was one of the truly most special performances seen in Melbourne. The band was astonishingly good, the sound was phenomenal. Sitting up the front you could tell Justin was emotionally appreciative of the turnout. I went out of interest sake more than anything as I liked the first record, and generally ignored the second. But I will revisit as my interest has peaked again after last night. WOW!
Just out of interest sake for those going to GP, watch the band and answer this next week to something that was a topic for discussion last night.
In 20 years, how will Bon Iver be compared to similar contemporaries of today?
Will they be held in the same legendary regard as a Dylan, Waits or Young? Or as a Chicago/America type nostalgic daggy act? A critically acclaimed Steely Dan type who will cater for their age bracket but not be embraced by new future audiences? Or will it just be like Billy Joel?
Also for GP audience, watch out for Joan Armatrading special appearance.
I'm really looking forward to their set at GP.
Yeah, me too
I really like For Emma, and three of the four Blood Bank tracks. The one with Cher on vocals had me worried... I haven't listened to the newer album much.
And that is my courageous story.
Bon Iver erotic stories.
Fan erotica is something I dont quite understand.
this is blowing my mind.
After a shitty couple of weeks, that website got me laughing again.
