Now I think the US one is better. They did the office romance better, Dwight > Gareth and Steve Carrell created his own lame boss character which is equally as good as Brent.

i disagree, aside from the pilot there were great moments in all season 1 episodes but season 2 really hit the nonstop gold

Well that was pointless. Change the accent, the script, the costumes etc and you basically have a generic third-rate American sitcom. Also, Selma Blair is scrawny. What's Kath and Kim without the jabs at Kim's weight? Why did they even need the K&K 'formula' to make this? Basically everything that makes up the formula has been taken out. Do not understand.

How much worse can it be? K&K was beating the dead horse back to life by the second season, although I loved the first. Definitely watching the American version though.

Ok I watched it and yeah it is pretty good and I think it will get better. It isn't the same humour exactly but it works in it's own American way.

It was utterly pointless- I'm not sure I have any idea of what they were actually aiming for. The jokes (I use the term looser than Jenna Jameson) about Kim being a hornbag don't make sense as Selma Blair is a hornbag. And the Brett equivalent is a stoner/surfy deeeeewd type.

I didn't think it was too far off the mark. However the original is all about Aussie humor and characters, I wonder if it translates into american culture. Without Glenn Robbins it's not worth watching though.

My God they made a terrible mess trying to translate this for an American audience. I will avoid this like the plague in future. Though I suspect 7 will pull it soon enough.

Not true. I appreciate the Australian one, and was very open minded about the American version, even after hearing it had received awful reviews. I was more than ready to like it and defend it. However, I have since confirmed that the reviews were indeed correct. It was truly awful.

Exactly. Selma Blair is hot compared to Gina Riley. Kim being a tubby bogan is integral to the show. The wedgie-thong jokes are a case in point.
